AWeber or Get Response?

I've tried Aweber and it's decent enterprise level email marketing software. That said, if you're a SMB, there's still no better service than Mailchimp IMO.

I had accounts with both Aweber and Getresponse, but decided to cancel my Getresponse account because the only reason I had it was to use their Getsubscribers service which they have now discontinued. They wouldn't refund the money I had paid upfront for the service, so I lost out on that one

I asked this question a few short months ago. Both are very good platforms I have had a trial with both. They both have customizable email templates and opt in forms and both have very helpful live support. They also have good deliverability.
Choosing between them is not important, they're both good. I'll tell you what someone told me. Stop focusing on the little things and focus on what matters like building your list and the content of your emails. Oh and FYI this topic will most probably be closed (mine was) as there are many, many posts with this question.

I'm in the process of switching to Getresponse. Aweber uses a double-optin system on API calls, and don't seem very willing to change that. I lost over 30 subs in my WSO who didn't click the confirmation link.

I can't have that.

Getresponse will change their API call on request.

Differences so far noted:

Getresponse requires you to click an additional button to check spam scores, Aweber shows it automatically.

Getresponse's little box for options occasionally covers my text - it's awkward moving it.

Can't put a graphic in the middle of text, you have to put a graphic down, then add another text box (confusing)

Getresponse's email editing seems quicker and easier overall than Aweber.

Getresponse is confusing when first starting - Aweber isn't. (but Getresponse had a chat feature, and the guy quickly set me straight)

Getresponse has a number of options that Aweber simply doesn't have... I like the 'time machine' function where you can specify the same delivery time no matter where the subscriber lives. The ability to switch people to a different list based on clicking a link is intriguing, and I'll certainly find a great use for that ability.

And, of course, Getresponse is cheaper.

Aweber responded by email within hours on a Saturday, that's certainly a plus.

I will still recommend Aweber - but I'm moving to Getresponse.

I heard on a video blog somewhere that Aweber has SLIGHTLY better open rates. Can anyone comment to this or was that simply one marketers opinion?

Aweber is newbie friendly. I never used GetResponse.

I prefer Getresponse. I haven't used Aweber in years but there wasn't anything wrong with them at the time.

Getresponse also has a lot of templates to create really nice opt-in pages.

Getresponse offers a 30 free trial so you can try them out...if you don't like it, you can cancel.

Personally I use both for two different niches.

I find them both user friendly and the deliverability seems to be equal. Some argue Aweber is best while Getresponse is more user friendly.

My personal opinion is honestly just go with the one you like most, they are both very good!

I've had both. I like aweber better. Taking advantage of the first free month of get response wasn't bad though! LOL.

They are both pretty much same.

No matter which one you will chose, you will be happy with it.

Both is well but i depend on yourself how to like

which ever service is going to give its users the best user experience along with the engaging customer support is best.

Apart from that there is another issue that most of the people who send an email marketing campaigns are the people who are on budget in such case a bit research is extreamly important so that users get what they are looking for at affordable pricing.

However there is another problem with these kind of services that they do not allow you import your own list, which makes it very difficult for some email marketer to switch existing lists from one provider to another

I use Aweber but I promote both as an affiliate.

I find aweber a lot more user friendly user interface compared to getresponse!

Just pick one and stick with it. Forget everything else just get started with an autoresponder, get use to using it, and start kicking some tail online.

Getresponse interface seems to be little confusing. They Use term "Campaigns" in parallel to term "Lists". So Lists are campaigns. While in industry, a campaign really is a Email message or a broadcast. I am speaking of a popular belief specific to Email industry, but Campaign can have different meanings for different people. That could be confusing for a new comer, but if you are using system for a while you will get used to it.

My experience with Get Response had not been appealing.
I have had some 13000 emails imported succesfully, after a glitich in their system the emails from my autoresponder didnot go on time.

I cancelled my campaign and uploaded the same list and then my trials have been endless, they didnt accept it saying it was all spam.

I had to cancel and switch to Aweber.
