AWeber or Get Response?

Hey Fellow W.F Members!

Just out of curiosity...

AWeber or Get Response?

I know there's others, but just using these as examples. The reason is because, in my little time in this Forum, I have noticed a lot of people asking about which company to use & prices etc.

So why not make a thread to hopefully answer a few of these questions that are commonly asked.

As for myself...

I use AWeber & have no negative feedback about their products/services. There's been a few times where I've wanted some more information regarding specific areas of AWeber so I emailed their support team.

Within 24 hours, I have always had a response to any queries I've had.

I also find AWeber very user friendly & to easy to navigate. Prices are also failry priced in my opinion.

They also offer a few very cool features which are very beneficial.

As for Get Response... I have never used them before, but I have never heard any negative feedback about their services either.

All comments & replies are most welcome.

I've tried Aweber and it's decent enterprise level email marketing software. That said, if you're a SMB, there's still no better service than Mailchimp IMO.

I had accounts with both Aweber and Getresponse, but decided to cancel my Getresponse account because the only reason I had it was to use their Getsubscribers service which they have now discontinued. They wouldn't refund the money I had paid upfront for the service, so I lost out on that one

I asked this question a few short months ago. Both are very good platforms I have had a trial with both. They both have customizable email templates and opt in forms and both have very helpful live support. They also have good deliverability.
Choosing between them is not important, they're both good. I'll tell you what someone told me. Stop focusing on the little things and focus on what matters like building your list and the content of your emails. Oh and FYI this topic will most probably be closed (mine was) as there are many, many posts with this question.

I'm in the process of switching to Getresponse. Aweber uses a double-optin system on API calls, and don't seem very willing to change that. I lost over 30 subs in my WSO who didn't click the confirmation link.

    I can't have that.

Getresponse will change their API call on request.

    Differences so far noted:

Getresponse requires you to click an additional button to check spam scores, Aweber shows it automatically.

Getresponse's little box for options occasionally covers my text - it's awkward moving it.

Can't put a graphic in the middle of text, you have to put a graphic down, then add another text box (confusing)

Getresponse's email editing seems quicker and easier overall than Aweber.

Getresponse is confusing when first starting - Aweber isn't. (but Getresponse had a chat feature, and the guy quickly set me straight)

Getresponse has a number of options that Aweber simply doesn't have... I like the 'time machine' function where you can specify the same delivery time no matter where the subscriber lives. The ability to switch people to a different list based on clicking a link is intriguing, and I'll certainly find a great use for that ability.

And, of course, Getresponse is cheaper.

Aweber responded by email within hours on a Saturday, that's certainly a plus.

I will still recommend Aweber - but I'm moving to Getresponse.

    Hope this helps...

I heard on a video blog somewhere that Aweber has SLIGHTLY better open rates. Can anyone comment to this or was that simply one marketers opinion?

I heard the same thing, but the other way around.

I've been using Aweber since 2005 and only recently started using GetResponse and I like GR much better.

I am mostly concerned about the flexibility in setting up your opt-in forms, do you get a lot of options? Are you able to embed the code into a custom opt-in form? I have heard that you can do SOI and also export your lists with GR, is that true?

You can export your lists with both GR and Aweber.

I've found GR easier to compose emails than Awebers' recently updated format.

Never really had an issue with forms. But I'm using mostly 3rd party pages where I can just paste in the GR code where I'm told to and the application automatically takes care of the rest.

I've had fun making cool forms in Aweber as well, but don't really mess with it anymore.

Also many of my landing pages are prebuilt and all i do is just plug in the form id.

They're both good. I just like GR better now after using Aweber for almost 10 years.

How exactly do you use your own custom designed opt-in form but still send people to your Aweber list when they submit their e-mail address? I am assuming you need to attach a specific section of code to the button but I am not sure which part.

He's probably, like me, simply using a squeeze page plugin. I use several of them, but my fallback plugin that I use time and time again is Epic Squeeze.

All you do is copy & paste the HTML code that Aweber gives you into the box requested by the squeeze page plugin - the plugin figures it all out.

But if you past in all the code it will just give you the template you designed in Aweber won't it? I don't want to put their opt-in box over top of mine.

No... plugin authors are a tad smarter than that.

I've never used *any* form that Aweber or Getresponse provide... my website uses different WP plugins to subscribe people - and they all take the HTML code for a form to do it.

The plugin simply goes in and pulls the needed information out of the HTML code provided by Aweber or Getresponse (or wherever)

Ok now we are getting somewhere

Might you suggest such a plugin that you prefer to use Ben?

I prefer Getresponse. I haven't used Aweber in years but there wasn't anything wrong with them at the time.

Getresponse also has a lot of templates to create really nice opt-in pages.

Getresponse offers a 30 free trial so you can try them out...if you don't like it, you can cancel.

Personally I use both for two different niches.

I find them both user friendly and the deliverability seems to be equal. Some argue Aweber is best while Getresponse is more user friendly.

My personal opinion is honestly just go with the one you like most, they are both very good!

I've had both. I like aweber better. Taking advantage of the first free month of get response wasn't bad though! LOL.

which ever service is going to give its users the best user experience along with the engaging customer support is best.

Apart from that there is another issue that most of the people who send an email marketing campaigns are the people who are on budget in such case a bit research is extreamly important so that users get what they are looking for at affordable pricing.

However there is another problem with these kind of services that they do not allow you import your own list, which makes it very difficult for some email marketer to switch existing lists from one provider to another

      Hi,.

I have personally used and tried both services, and i have to say they both are good in their own way. Some features in Aweber that is not available in GetResponse, and vice versa.

Although I finally use GetResponse, it doesn't mean its the best option for me.

It come down to how comfortable you are using their services and options.
So I would say, use the Trial Period for both, and get familiar with the features that that have. Very cheap trial for Aweber and Free trial for Get Response.

And the paid scheme is almost the same for both. So again it will come down to personal preferences.

Too many inputs from people will confuse you more. Just experience it your self.

Getresponse interface seems to be little confusing. They Use term "Campaigns" in parallel to term "Lists". So Lists are campaigns. While in industry, a campaign really is a Email message or a broadcast. I am speaking of a popular belief specific to Email industry, but Campaign can have different meanings for different people. That could be confusing for a new comer, but if you are using system for a while you will get used to it.

My experience with Get Response had not been appealing.
I have had some 13000 emails imported succesfully, after a glitich in their system the emails from my autoresponder didnot go on time.

I cancelled my campaign and uploaded the same list and then my trials have been endless, they didnt accept it saying it was all spam.

I had to cancel and switch to Aweber.
