Is Email Marketing still King ?

I was doing some reading earlier this morning and came upon an article that made me reflect how interesting and somewhat humorous when various people come in and say that Email Marketing is archaic or will soon be archaic and obsolete.
.

I was reading that 85% of people who use the Internet will engage with Email. And around 63% will do the same with Social Media.

The thing is Social media started out as a premise for having Fun and logging into your FB page and seeing pictures and videos and who is dating who and who is talking about who......of course there are other things going on now (business communities, Sites, commerce, fan pages etc...).

From my experience, when you get down to it Email Marketing on a large level seems better suited as a Marketing tool than Social Media.. Just a better place to do business. A lot less noise. People , for the most part, hold their Email accounts in high regard. More so than a FB account which many after a certain time just Delete !

I definitely think Social Media and the different outlets have their place in business and building relationships with people and achieving great profitability, but the bottom line is I do not think it somehow lessens the value of Email Marketing. (Of course, synergistically the two can be a deadly combo in biz )

And I do not see Email Marketing losing much Value in this aspect in the foreseeable future.

Probably not in our lifetime, imo

Email is still king. Look at the best marketers in the world such as Frank Kern, Anik Singal, Jeff Walker, Jeff Jonhson, Ryan Deiss, Mike Filsaime (Just to name a few) all say email is still king.

Many people believe it;s dying. No way!

Email marketing is useful but it is a little difficult for us to write well organized, attractive and useful emails and it is a time-consuming job for us to do it well. Everytime when I doing Email marketing, I feel very worries coze I have a lot of questions to be solved: How often do I send emails? what should I send? Will my emails be rejected or put into junk boxes....etc? However, everytime I do facebook, I feel much better and it brings my website stable daily traffic rather than email marketing.

I just cannot go along with this. If you are just doing FB and not doing email marketing you are NOT building a long term business, imo !!

I am not trying to be obnoxious but it really should NOT be difficult to write these emails.

If you write to family and friends via Email , then you should be comfortable writing to your Subs on your List.

Do not make it harder than it really is.

Prospecting avenues (Social Media, Direct Mail, Email Marketing etc) all have their own place in the marketing world. Where certain things begin to die out, others rise up.

Is email marketing dying? Absolutely not. However, gone are the days with crappy marketers can just scrap up a list and bulk send emails and profit from it. There are more standards, there are more thing you have to do to follow the rules now.

I still land offline clients using electronic messages apart from Social Media. It's not that hard to do, but you have to think outside of the traditional marketing box: Buy this here! mentality.

Also, the internet marketers mentioned above should not be used as an example in any discussion in my opinion. They've started from the beginning, and have hundreds of thousands of emails. The shear bulk of their list sizes make them money. They also excel very highly in copywriting, which I believe contributes to their success much more than just 'emailing'.

I agree but don't you also think their Copywriting within their emails ( i.e. email copy ) has helped them to become Superstars as well ?

        Absolutely.

Anyone can send an email. It takes a high level of skill in your craft to write email copy to persuade the reader to perform the desired outcome.

Remember, 'the money is in the list'. You can have a huge list that you can't monetize yourself, but you can sell solo ads (as long as your list does engage).

It's about how you use what you have in front of you.

Email marketing is by far the best way to make a Huge income online For years to come. Nothing compares to what you can do with email, as almost everyone today has a email. Plus they are always checking email, as they have it connected to there phone with apps so they can receive marketing emails from you anytime anywhere. Anyone who doesn't believe email marketing is number one probably gave up on it because they didn't have the work ethic

I see it this way. Every channel has it's purpose. Social media is great to reach out to cold market and get them warm up to you. Just like going to a carnival and chatting up a couple of people.

However, deals don't get done on social media. You don't just go to a carnival and chat up a guy and expect him to buy your stuff there and there.

You want to be his friend. you want to meet up with him a few more times to find out what he want before asking for the sale.

That is where email marketing comes in.

Its a channel to move lukewarm leads to hot prospects.

In a nutshell, they work hand in hand. But i guess email marketing still hold a very strong presence in online marketing.

Totally agree. If you want to get the best feedback you should know how to use different marketing tools for particular targeted audience. Social media helps to find partners and clients, but nothing comes near email marketing when you want to make a serious business offer

      Completely agree with you.

We have seen many Social Networks die in recent years. ORKUT, MySpace and Friendster are just a few to name. It means Social Networking is more likely to die than Email marketing since it has survived 20 years already and will survive another 80 years may be.

I see it like Telephone. it was invented more than 100 years ago, but it is still a necessity and has not died yet. Although it changed shapes, came into new forms but never died. Even internet communication has not brought an end to importance of Telephone.

Doing email marketing is like your building a store and the more you build the bigger your store gets. Sort of like building a chain of Walmarts. Sending traffic directly to a page without building a list is like you are selling products out of the trunk of you car with no intention ever of growing any bigger. If that car catches a flat or you run out of gas then what?

    1. Volume
There are far more email accounts than social media profiles out there. To be exact, there were 3.6 billion email accounts in 2013 and it is expected that by 2016, this number will reach 4.3 billion.

    2. ROI
According to Econsultancy, two-thirds of marketers (66%) state that email delivers an ‘excellent’ or ‘good’ ROI, with 8% of businesses achieving more than half of their sales through this channel.

Email marketing is king but most people don't even know how to do it right. When you mention "the heavy hitters" I always tell anyone that worships them that they are not them. These big shots have been doing this for years and although I think email marketing is awesome, it is not as easy as it was a couple of years ago to build huge lists without people getting irritated by email. People are a lot more educated about online marketing and if you don't know what you're doing, you should get the proper training on email marketing first.

Totally worth it as long as you do so by creating QUALITY, CONTENT-DRIVEN messages that are well-written, offer something of value, and are written in a way that coverts. A few years ago, if you could send out emails, you could make money. But more people have wised up, flooded the market with junk, and made it harder for us all. But if you're still one of the good guys that does things the right way, then yes, email marketing ROCKS.

Email is great for reconnecting with your audience and convince them to buy your product, so excellent if you get a commission per sale and build a list to further monetize it.

But my old time favourite traffic sources have always been PPC such as Adwords and EMAIL traffic. I have however lately come to realize social media is becoming stronger and stronger and the conversion rates are starting to rise.

In the CPA space however all 3 sources are equally as strong in terms of getting a conversion and monetizing your traffic.

Concentrate on producing Email Copy that will engage and resonate with your Readers.

      Focus on this at first.

As time goes by and you gain some credibility, you can add a casual "P.S. link" that should be a Product that can truly help solve a problem your readers may have.

I've stayed away from email marketing because i myself would never buy anything from an email link unless it was from a domestic email and email marketing over here (iceland) is almost non existant.

My question is let's say i build a list, collect some email addresses. I have a product, let's say a Hypnosis course i want to sell.

        What do i do next?

Send the persons on the list some more information, maybe something free even.

Then later in another mail sneak in the affiliate link right?

Should i use the list i gathered just for this product? How can i use the same list for multiple products?

Do i need to build a separate list for every affiliate product i want to promote?

No, you do not have to build a separate list for multiple products if those products are in the same niche.

With regards to what to send your list, it varies from marketer to marketer. Some prefer to send free content followed by emails with affiliate links, yet others prefer to 'spam' their list with offers as it increases their chance of making a sale.

I prefer the former as it allows me to build a long term relationship with my subscriber.

You can start a product launch sequence if you already have some subscribers - offer some free content as pre sell content, making it clear that better and similar stuff can be found in the hypnosis course that you are promoting.

    Hope this helps!

Email marketing is not 'King' but it is a very powerful key to success online!

A lot of the money is definitely in the TARGETED List!

But you don't really need an email list to make money online. I've met a lot of people making money online WITHOUT a list.

Of course, it is HIGHLY recommended that you build one!

Some people say their list in on Facebook and other Social Networks. I can see how that is true and powerful!

In my opinion, you should use BOTH. Email Marketing and Social Media Marketing.

I wish you the best of the best!

      Absolutely, emailing still works.

      - It gives you the chance to 'speak' in the supportive way to establish the rapport and
      relationship with your lists.

      - You can entertain and make it fun to your readers via emailing.

      - To give something more informative, you can do via emailing for this purpose easier than
      social media.

      - The lively content would allow the reader to enjoy reading it.

      - When you do emailing frequently enough, your readers could recognize you. The best
you can expect is that they would be looking forward to your mail.

      - This experience of being friendly and trustworthy are invaluable. They have the tendency
to take any product that you will be offering.

      - It takes time to reach that level. However, it is worth doing so with patience and
      consistency.

I would say that success lies on the amount of emails that you can submit if having a wide target or audience in mind. Also let's consider a very targeted mailing list that is starving for your services. Email marketing is still there and yes it is certainly profitable yet

Email Marketing is here to stay.

Generally, people stick to their email addresses and seldom change them. You can find loads of users still using their originally created hotmail.com address and check them on very frequent basis.

What exactly does doing it right actually mean?
I get tons of unwanted emails in my inbox, and I mark them as spam myself. I know for sure I didn't subscribe to so many pages, so getting these emails is pretty annoying for me.

Of course its still king. Social media is just a way to get people onto your email list. That is what most business in the world eventually do with the traffic they get from social media sites. Social media is great, but at the end of the day its just a way to get people onto a list.

I would say email marketing is best approach to have a direct contact with individuals, it's more effective. Besides, there's a lot company is using email marketing to build relationship while promoting their products and services.

In my opinion, social media is not so personal as you are sending the message in a group.

EMAIL is indeed the king if you know how to monetize sales funnels correctly. Why? Because you don't just hit your visitors once, you hit them 5x 6x 7x with the same offer (I'm not saying spam them), more times to touch base and email is more personal. If you aren't collecting emails you are leaving a lot of money on the table. Why? Because that visitor you had on your website that you didn't collect his email from left your page, and chances are he/she isn't going to come back. So collect emails, build a relationship with your prospects, and from there you are able to make money. All with of course good intentions on helping your prospects achieve their goals. Another reason why email marketing works great is because if you compare it to post cards, and old fashioned snail mail the cost to mail prospects is a lot cheaper, and a lot faster and it's easier to filter out prospects.

Facebook is finding a way to cut off page owners from their readers by limiting organic reach, so that now fans don't see a third of what you pubish. However, when you have a subscriber, it's almost guaranteed your reader will always get what you are trying to say to them (assuming you don't hit the spam filter). Facebook can't guarantee that kind of exposure anymore.

Yes, Facebook definitely has its time and place in a overall marketing strategy for an online business.

But I do not think it some how or some way is taking away the effectiveness of Email Marketing.

      Probably if anything enhancing it

The money is not in the list as you can often hear, but in the relationship with your list.

This is the main problem why lot of people out there struggle.

    How to build relationship?

You need to provide value and again provide value...

    How do you provide value?

it seems complicated... but in fact it is very easy. By helping them.
Give your subscribers a piece of the solution. Give them advices. Give them free training...

    They will trust you…
They will want more of it…
They will buy stuff from you.

You need to genuinely HELP them. When you do that, it builds trust. It creates a relationship. Money will flow to you through that relationship.
The RELATIONSHIP is the key to long term sustainability of your business.

Two essential components for building a relationship while making money through your autoresponder:

    1) Provide help/education/teaching (that’s the value)
    2) Sell your product(s).

    Thats it...

      Some really good points.

I like the part about Training.

It seems a better proposition for your overall business health to offer training or free course to really 'qualify' your Prospects...........i.e. not just ones who sign up on your Optin page to get just a free Report or video.

Dear Discrat, Email Marketing is still king in Internet Marketing because by email marketing you target your potential buyers whether by social media you are not sure who much sales you get. for email marketing you are sending email to those who are already interested with your products as well as they all know you and your products too.
