Easy Way To Build A Relationship

After getting into email marketing, I quickly understood that you need to build a relationship with your list.

Everyone was saying it. but it seemed that nobody was going to actually divulge the "secret" of how to actually build a relationship. First, I tried the method of just sending my subscribers tonnes of free ebooks and courses, but it didnt help to much. I guess they had seen it all before.

Then, after reading something I found in the War Room, I decided to put huge emphasis on getting my subscribers to email ME. Then, I would spark up a conversation with them, and they could see that I was a real human being.

The best thing about this method, is you get them to ask you a question, with the promise of answering it. This allows you to immediately identify a pain point for them, use your experience to find a solution to there problem, and possibly personally reccomend them a product that they can buy.

The quote that sums this all up goes something like this.

Would you rather have 1000 subscribers who like you, or 40 subscribers who love you?

If you're struggling to build a relationship with your subscribers, try and get some real 1-1 interaction going, and see your profits rise like crazy.

Unfortunately very few email marketers are still building relationships IMO. Most of the lists I sign up to do nothing more than send out promo after promo, many sending out more than 1 a day at that. I remember just 4 or 5 years ago it seems that the email marketing was much more lucrative. While it is still the best way to make a good living from the Internet, it seems it requires more and more subscribers just to achieve the same open rates and sales numbers that I had 5 years ago.

I'm glad to see it being discussed because that means people are still interested in doing it. I'd love to see it get back to the way it was, with most email marketers sending out more pure content than promos, but alas, I think the change is here to stay.

What I always think is that there is an actual person looking at their screens and watching your content.

Many marketers go wrong in this and they think that people will not reflect about the information they are watching.

When I send my emails I always think as if I'm talking to the person in a real situation. Just like if we were in a coffee shop talking like friends.

The better bonds you create the more trust and sales you will get!

    Hope this helps

You're exactly right, but remember, as much as you need a relationship, email marketing is equally a numbers game.

I concur, its all about trust and sales. Like I've said in another post,
I don't mind getting promotional deals from veteran marketers I TRUST.

Here's the relationship I built with some of my lists:

    - Expect to get 1-2 emails from me every day Monday-Friday and maybe 2 over the weekend.

And I didn't tell them to expect it. I just conditioned them to expect it by giving them just that.

Relationship is working out very well

I would think you just need to deliver what they expected when they signed up for your list. You identify their need and recommend solutions or provide real world experience and first hand advice to overcome the issue they are experiencing. If they are on multiple lists and you only mail out a few times a week they will probably overlook your emails and go straight for the ones they are conditioned to seeing.

Of course I have read posts about marketers who swear by the exact opposite!

1-2 emails every day seems like an excessive amount. You're really not getting a high rate of unsubscribes doing that?

It all really depends on what they're on your list for and what you're marketing strategy is.

Varies from niche to niche of course.

Plus I'm adding 3-4K leads per day, so I'm not really concerned with unsubscribers.

It's part of the business. If they unsubscribe, I dont want them on my list anymore than they don't want to be on it. Rather them be unsubbed then not open any emails as unopens effects deliverability more than unsubs.

They're actually doing me a favor.

Some marketers and/or companies email their lists much more than 2x a day.

        It's all relative

Interesting... have you tested telling them what to expect? I'm just curious if it would make any difference on the unsubscribe rate.

I like the idea of mailing at least once a day.. but I'm not sure I could keep it up, much less twice. Do you have mostly automatic or manual?

      Thanks for the bajillion dollars

No, I but I did study how other very successful companies in this particular niche operated and modeled mine after them to some degree... and that was good enough for me.

Not to mention the revenue and net profits that occur on a daily basis is telling me to keep doing what I'm doing.

I do manual, but it literally takes minutes.

When it comes to this topic there is no one concrete way. There are many.

I have a list I mail 3x a day every day. Not nearly as many unsubscribe as people would think. But it must be a certain kind of list and certain kinds of emails to do this.

If you can show your prospects that you are really there to help them, and you learn to be different from everybody else online who are just trying to make a quick buck, your subscribers will start to like and trust you and in turn buy from you. It's not always about how big your list is, it's all about being able to let your prospects know you are really there for them. If you can do that then you will have no reason to not succeed. It's always best to learn your niche in and out first that way you have a clue about what you are talking about and so you are positioned as an expert. Treat your subscribers well, and they will treat you well in return. Learn to build mutual beneficial relationships.

This is great advice and just recently I have started taking a more personal approach to my list building. On my download page for the opt in I have a picture of me along with a quick few sentences about me and why I think the free download is right for them.

Also in my auto responder sequences I am constantly asking them to reply to my email for anything they need and I emphasis that I read every email sent to me (and I do).
