I have been making vblogs that have been getting a good response.

Really give some valuable insight as to how they can further develop their business, or them selves or what ever else that is relative to your niche.

Also tell stories of your life and what you have learned and what they can do.

People will relate and resonate with this.

    Hope this helps.

Everyone has a good point. But your comment is what i like most, Kaan. I agree with you. Sharing your stories and what you have learned and what you can do are the things will gain their trust to you.

First, find out what they're looking for. What's causing them to lose sleep at night?

Second, DELIVER on that and wow them!

Third, all the while, do your best to prove to them you're a real human-being. This can be accomplished in several ways including sharing your geographical location, perhaps some of the problems in your life, vacation pics, etc.

    Hope that helps!

    Offer them value everyday.

Build a relationship with them around stories.

Constantly offer them new value and content that way they can gain familiarity with you and your brand.

Email marketing is the same as consulting with clients. The only difference is that you are on a massive scale with them as opposed to dealing with one on one interactions.

I think the best way to build a good relationship with your email list subscribers is to offer them something valuable every day.

NOt only that you also need to keep under consideration that the content you are promoting everyday must be highly relebent to your potential list of subscriberds so that theey will be able to develop a keen interest in your promotional offers.

Hi always provide your list with valuable information that will actually help them. When sending emails don't always send out promo emails, switch your emails up between content, Relationship building emails also. In some of your emails provide a link to your Facebook page so your subscribers can see a face behind all the emails they are reading. Show them that there is a real person, not just emails on top of emails from the same person they have never seen. They want to feel connected, the more they trust you the more likely they'll buy products your promoting to them.

    Good Luck

Basically there are two Ways to build Rapport and Credibility with your Subscribers

    1. Stay Consistent and Congruent- If you say in your first few emails that you do not believe in Blasting your List with Emails but then you turn around and email them 4 times a day with offers then....Boom Credibility shot !

    2. Simply Over Deliver - Give way more than they would have ever expected. After they Optin on your Download Page have two or three additional Gifts to give them. This builds great Rapport. Also, give away free tips that are REAL Techniques and Methods you use yourself that produce REAL results.

Tell personal stories - Talk to your audience as if they are your friend. Shared with them your encounters, experiences and personal stories (that is relevant to why they sign up in the first place.)

Educate them - give them tips that help them get things done easier or faster.

Give away - every once in awhile, give away a free report that help them solve a problem.

That's how you build trust overtime.

Start telling stories. Literally everything around you is a story.

Look around you right now and find a way to make what you see into a story

For example I have my cat sleeping behind me. I can turn that into a story and relate it back to marketing by saying something like "I bet you are sick and tired of not being able to make money online... almost as tired as my cat who is kindly sleeping behind me" or something like that

it all starts with the very first email. Right from the start you should aim to provide good quality content. After all people don't generally subscribe to newsletters and email lists just so they can receive lots of sales messages. In most cases they want to actually learn something, whether it's useful tips and strategies or the latest news regarding your particular niche, for instance.

I've done a lot of testing, and the best thing you can do (when you give away something free as an incentive for opt ins) is to simply overdeliver immediately.

Sendding people to an offer immediately after they opt in will not do you any good if you want to build a relationship with your list. I found sending them to a complete training site (with some affiliate links too) increases your open rates a lot. Do something unexpected, most people don't expect too much when they opt in to your list. If you offer them a complete training site with 5-7 lessons about a certain topic that actually helps them instantly, your open rates will deifnately increase.

show them how to make their fast dollar online and they leave their spouse before they leave you. lol. seriously, i think internet marketers are very loyal. so, actually show them something that works, not like many other wso's where from the beginning, they have a disclaimer where it says "this worked for me but it does not mean it will work for you" : that is bullshit, it it worked for you 10 times, chances are it will work for me too.

You need to have casual language as if you are talking to a friend.
You need to mail atleast 3 times a day.
Sometimes we look over things and just leave it aside, after a while you go look lets see what is this all about.

ANND there you go BOOOM, quality content that gives information is what makes you have credibility and then its likely they buy from you.

    Just DO IT!!

What works best for me is the following:

    1. Be yourself (as others said in this thread, tell your story, for example, my subscribers know that I'm a former body guard, martial artist, Caribbean self made marketer...)

    2. Quality products. Yes, you want to promote your products first, and over deliver. When you do this, they will want to buy from you again.

    3. Whenever you sell one of your products, make sure you have a series that teaches your buyers how to consume the product they've just purchased, and how to go the next step.

    4. You focus on the relationship 10x more with your buyers (most people do the opposite, once someone bought their product, they only send him unrelated offers).

    5. Give them "baby steps" that actually work. I mean teach them something they can do to get closer to their desired results.

    6. This is the biggie: show that you are the expert, that you know what you are talking about. You can use one of these two or both: A - send them case studies (yours or your students), or B - Show them your internal processes (the daily operation in your area of expertise/business).

    7. THIS is the REAL biggie : get offline with your clients! If you can't: you can do seminars, webinars, etc... and give them more "baby steps".

I agree with Barbie, always give free valuable stuff, you can also ask your list what kind of information they would like to have, or if you yourself have come across something you find valuable or interesting you can share that will your list, just as you would with a friend.

As most of the good points have been stated, there's still one more thing you need to do which a lot of copy and paste marketers won't have.

Inject YOUR 'personality" in your emails. If your subscriber can guess who wrote the email without even looking to whom it is from, you've done a great job!
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[9601538].message }}
  • Here's a few points off the top of my head:

    - Definitely use Video (it works very well and people love video)

    - Follow Frank Kern's CCPC model (This is content, content, pitch and content)
Note: You can still pitch a little in the content, but make it a soft sell

    - Have some training videos where you deliver lots and lots of value (be cool, like Frank says!)

    - Have variety in the styles of email to keep it fresh. Have descriptive emails as well as the occasional "blind" short offer.

    Hope that helps.

My subscribers, overall, hate video, say so without even being asked, and as an affiliate in multiple different niches I'll no longer even send my traffic to video pages because long experience has taught me not only that they don't ever convert nearly as well for me, but even some of the manifold reasons why they don't.

Results and reasons which seem to be echoed by many people who have tested it for themselves rather than by allowing themselves to be influenced by these widely propagated myths.

A good way of building relationship is by being entertaining while informing. Talk to your list as of you were talking to a good friend giving them tips. Also try not to be predictable. Some days can be a short promo, some days can be sharing a little joke or a song that help motivates you, or even a story. Being creative and different helps build relationship.

A key thing to remember : Put yourself in your subscribers shoes, think of YOURSELF as the subscriber. Are you the type of subscriber that would like to get pounded with offer after offer and no substance? I personally don't like that. I like people that help me and send me useful information, a promotion here and there is fine. But remember, we are in the business to not sell but to market. Our job is to market to others by helping them, but sell them? Save that for the rookies and amateurs. Take care of your list, and it will be a long term asset.

First off, let's talk about what you should not do. Don't ever recommend a product based on how much it will earn you, if you get a sale. You need to think first of your subscribers and whether or not that product will help them and in doing so, you will be looking out for your subscribers best interest. This is all part of the trust process you have with your subscribers, doing what's best for them. In time, you will earn money as trust is established, when they see you have their best interest at heart.

Telling your personal story would help gradually create the relationship with your lists. People love to know on others' experience. Your lists also the same. Entertain them with yours.

Be yourself when writing. You might take some time prior to finally finding your own writing style. Keep doing and working on it everyday. Short, sharp and show are what the lists prefer to see.

      Best wishes on your business!

How about sending out the occasional email blast about something that is CURRENTLY going on in the world. Something that you came across in the news perhaps that is relevant to your niche. A lot of people's email series are all prewritten automated emails, and to your subscribers, that can kind of make it feel like they're not really in direct communication with you. By throwing out the occasional non-promotional email (email blast) which is about something CURRENTLY going on, it can make your subscribers feel like you are in in direct communication with them, as well as keeping them up-to-date on things relevant to the niche.

Maybe you are in the "weight loss" niche for example, and you come across a NEW news report which talks about how a new study shows that a certain food may be more helpful in losing weight than we ever realized. That might be something the people on your list would want to read. It's valuable content, relevant to the niche, and it's a news report that just came out. So you could send out an email blast to your list, to tell them about it and link to the article.

A lot of people probably just send out email blasts when promoting product launches, but why not also make use of email blast for the sake of sharing valuable content like this.

Valuable content doesn't just have to be informational/educational, it could also be something that is entertaining. If you were in the "dating tips for men" niche for example, and you came across a video in the news where the reporter in the video is reporting on something, and some guy comes up to her and tries to pick her up. And lets say some how his pick up attempt turns out to be ridiculously funny. You could send an email blast to your list and send them a link to the short video so they can check it out themselves.

I think even videos can be okay in situations like this when they are short and valuable. If they are entertaining, then they are valuable. If they can show you how to do something that would be more difficult to explain with words alone, then they are valuable. If they are filled with filler and fluff, they are not valuable. But, even articles and emails can have filler and fluff in them too, not just videos.

        Hey Carlo !
Awesome question and great answers !

I struggled with this for quite some time and actually began providing case studies to my list ... not only showing them the results but more importantly how I was getting them. The questions began to flow and so I set up a weekly hangout where I began answering questions and offered to share screens. This allowed me opportunities to talk about any product I wished to promote as well as always providing great value! I also began sending out a replay to my list as more content. My thinking here was those on my list would have the same kind of questions as the ones answering and so they would educate themselves and find value in these replays.
Once this process begins, you will wonder how you ever struggled with it to begin with. Its an awesome feeling that jump starts your online biz and quickly raises it to the next level.
I hope you found value with this and I hope it starts you on your road to freedom!

The importance of building a list cannot be overstated. So often I speak with many that have spent 10s of thousands online and never built their list. Do not make this mistake!!
