How should I use my list to make money? 40k opt-in 98% from the USA

I own a small business where we offer a service in personal finance. There is only one service we provide, and can really only be done once or twice so we don't have a lot of repeat business. This ends up meaning that our list doesn't convert well for us after a while since they either signed up and we cannot service them again, or they aren't interested in our one product. Most people make that decision in the first month of signing up, and then stay in our list for the news and content.

I am trying to figure out whats the best way to monetize our list outside of our own services? We get about 15-20% opening the emails and about 5-6% click through rate.

Whats the best way to make money with this list? I think they will convert well for other services in personal finance.

Below is a short list of affiliate products I found on Clickbank in the finance niche. You can send one a week to your list. Do about a 3 day warm up to the product, and then on day 3 or 4 send them a email that promote the selected product. I'm sure you can find more or others on other affiliate networks. Check them out to see if they are a good fit since you know more about your list and your business than us.

By the way, you can always survey your list to see what they want. That would actually be the best place to start.

You are DEAD ON about surveying. In mailing, info about your customers is literally money in the bank. Survey, survey, survey and don't be afraid that people won't answer surveys. Most people aren't marketers and aren't as jaded as we are. They answer surveys, it's almost to easy.

Try Surveymonkey if you want a free and easy survey platform to start with. When you start making enough money to let your money make money for you, you might want to move to something different.

I think my list will be receptive to this as long as it stays really closely related to my site, but offering something we don't currently offer. I know usually around 1,000 to 1,500 people click on the links I send via email, I wonder what percent of those will translate to sales. Half a percent? I really dont know never sold a product via email before.

At the very least, put all the news and content on a blog and monetize it with Adsense.

    Finance niche pays good money.

Properly placed Google Ads can produce CPMs of $50 or more.

Not much, but rather than keeping the news and content in the email message (if that's what you do), train them to click over to your blog where you can generate publisher revenue.

And obviously as others mentioned, find relevant products and tell ur people about them.

This is what we are doing now, using the email to send them back over to our blog. In the email we only post a snippet of information from the blog, so they come to read the full post. Are you talking about Adsense? I thought they had a very low payout and it was for each click/impression?

I'd say, rather than shoving affiliate offers down their throats, why not look at your business model and create a service than can be utilized as a monthly retainer?

A small fee for advice or 1-on-1 call support etc. If you don't eventually branch out, your pool of clients will dry up rather quickly. Get something or look at the costs of starting a different program that will fill a need for your clients/list.
