Hey everyone, I've got an idea for a challenge for any new people out there who are looking for some motivation. This idea just came to me after reading some of Pat Flynn's post on his niche site duel. Basically, I want to get 10 newbies together (including myself) and see who can be the first to get a brand new web site making $1 a day for a week straight. The reason why I chose $1 is because the contest won't be about money, it will be about gaining information, getting experience and pushing each other. As far as rules, anything goes. You can get someone to coach you, do it for you, whatever. However, you have to detail EVERYTHING you do and post it each day or week, or whatever is determined best. As for the selection process, let's say the first 9 people to respond who have under 200 posts will be entered into the contest. Please only respond if you're absolutely serious. If there are any vets out there who want to oversee this, or have some suggestions to make the contest better, feel free to post. Once the field of ten is set, we can discuss rules and create a more detailed plan. |

I think its a great idea that will help beginners take action and put what they have learned on this forum and elsewhere into good use. It will be also a very motivational thing for lots of newbies who never do anything. They just reading and reading and reading, always looking for a the magic button. Since there are other people in the same situation doing it, it will encourage them to do it as well. I look forward to reading what people come up with and their progress and success. |

Oops, my newbieness got the better of me and I posted this in the wrong forum. Luckily they moved it into the correct one. Alright so, vapsjee and seoelk are in. Awesome. vapsjee, you would have to create an entirely new website, that way everyone would start on an even playing field. |

This seems very interesting. I'm in. Now we need to get others interested. We'll need some guidelines on this. Obviously having an older site isn't acceptable. I'm going for it and will be getting my domain name shortly. What about a prize? |

I agree, once we get everyone set, we need to create strict guidelines. That's why I was hoping that a veteran could oversee the whole thing. As for a prize, well I guess we could figure that out.

I was also thinking that if we did it right, we could pitch it to some SEO software services who will, in turn, give each participant a free subscription to their product. Through the competition we will advertise their product. That's just an idea, and I'm not sure if we could get anyone to go for it, but it seems like it would be a good idea for any new software trying to break into the market.

The idea for such a contest is brilliant, it will inspire beginners to TAKE ACTION, and as far as we all know. Results are obtained only after Taking Actions. Will keep an eye on this! Good Idea. But make sure that you set the contest guidelines perfectly. e.g. method of earning etc. Should it be Fee for Service, or Long term income? e.g. 1] providing service for $1 per day for a week. (can work out quick) its fee for service, which will be stopped as soon as you dont get any project. 2] monetizing blog with contextual advertising. (need traffic) it will keep going on if you achieve it once, with slight alteration. |

I'm not sure if it would be based on advertising or providing a service. Contextual advertising seems like a better choice, since the main purpose would be to show new IM'ers how to get traffic. If it were based on service, maybe it could just end up being a race to $100 instead.

I would love to be one of the lucky 9. They call the final 9 people at the last table of the world series of poker the November 9. We could call ourselves the March 9. Can we participate if we already have a website or does it have to be from scratch totally? Regardless, I am in. |

I was waiting to get 10 people and then we can discuss all of the guidelines and all of the rules. However, starting a new website is a must, because selecting a domain would be a good process to document. So as of right now, we have five people: ratracegrad vapsjee seoelk jcepeda and, me If anyone in that list changes their mind and doesn't want to be in it, let me know. We need people who will be dedicated to make this work.

Do you mean have multiple contests? I totally agree. Especially if it's done correctly. I'm thinking each person should have their own page with a bio, photo and, like ratracegrad said, a place to put put down everything they have done to try and make money.

I love this idea... It's always best to have something to aim for, even if it's small. Motivation is the key. Too bad there was nothing like this a few months ago, otherwise I would have totally joined. I look forward to seeing how you all do once you get started. |

I was thinking (always a dangerous way to start a reply) that I would create a blog post on one of my sites providing a run down of the processes that I went through for that specific day. Then create a message here on WF to alert everyone to the new post. That way we could get some link juice as well as a way for members to provide feedback and encouragement or advice on the process. My two cents worth. |

This seems like such a simple challenge that I'm very surprised it hasn't been filled yet. I think that so many are interested but not sure if they are up to it. Or maybe they don't think they are ready. Well, I'm not up to it or ready. I have too much going on but this will force me to concentrate, focus on just one process and that will help me in the long run. I know I'm not ready! I've been floundering along for the last 3 years and in spite of having spent over $5,000. all I have been able to make in return is less than $500. There's a lot that I don't know and this seems like the perfect opportunity for me to learn some of those things that are simply beyond my knowledge or that I am doing that are of no use. What I'm trying to say is that sometimes the only way you can get beyond yourself is just use will power and take a step. One step is all that's need. Do it! |

Here's a suggestion on a prize. When one participant reaches the goal that's been set, then all other participants agree to donate 80% of their revenue, up to that point, to the earthquake aid in Japan. The winner gets to donate 20%. This will be an incentive to be creative and competitive and to help these very unfortunate souls who are going through so much pain and suffering. The knowledge we will gain from this challenge will be worth far more than any money we could pay, at least I think it will. So, making a donation such as this should be a very small price to pay for the training we all will gain from this experience. |

You have bought into the overnight millionaire scheme it sounds like. Quit reading and start implementing some of the 5k you invested. Get off your ass and do something it takes work!!!!! Here you go and it's free- Try to do something for a week stay off this forum , off youtube, and everything and just doing something for a whole entire week. Then when your done with that do it again next week and keep repeating it, testing what works and doesn't. Everything I have every bought works it may not work that great but it does work if you keep doing it and change it to what works best FOR YOU!!!! Sorry but that is something that needs to be said directly towards you!!! Off my soapbox now.. This is a great way for the newbie to get started most people try to make $1000 a day and when it doesn't happen they quit. Starting with a $1 a day is something that is very easily obtainable and is the foundation for making money. Starting and believing that it works without seeing immediate results is the hardest part of making money online. I'm really looking forward to seeing newbie success stories from this thread.

According to what I've read so far, Your contest seems to be a good idea, but it's lacking of prizes for the winner. So only a few people joined in. You need to get sponsors... Guess What, I'll try to get some senior warriors to help with the prizes here. But I cannot guarantee that I'm able to get them join. Perhaps you can offer them a page linking to their sites, even though it most likely won't have any difference to their page rank, since the contest participants are starting on a brand new site, without a Page rank, that is. The time is just not right for me to join, since I won't have plenty of time on my side. So good luck guys... |

Timothy, thanks for the good words. Great advice and I just wish it was the right advice. Just because I'm paying out good money doesn't mean that I am not doing anything and am simply buying crap. That's not it at all. Here's my challenge to you and anyone else that keeps giving excuses as to why they can't join this challenge. Put your name up for the challenge. Once the challenge is up and running, record every step you take on this process. One thing though. You can NOT use your existing list to influence your results. You also must start from the beginning. That means that you write down what steps you take to find a domain name. Then what steps you take to register the domain. Then what steps you take to get your domain hosted. Next you show what steps you take to get content, and to get that content indexed. Next you show what you are doing to get traffic. Then, you show us exactly what you do to generate cash. If you are willing to take this challenge on and prove that you are that capable, I will donate a warrior membership to someone here. That is, you will need to make $1 a day for the duration of the challenge which I believe is being planned to be 30 days. Let me know if you are willing to take this challenge. Joe Cepeda |

I'm interested. I have a fairly good grasp of the basics, but I've been unable to put it together in a way that I can actually make money. Having little spare time in my life and even less money to put into this, probably hinders me a bit. I would be thrilled to get to a dollar a day, because I believe at that point it becomes a matter of tweaking and scale. Have you thought about making this a co-operative effort at all? Where the participants assist each other, maybe brainstorm, etc... |

Dang. I JUST bought a domain yesterday...I wish I would have seen this before! lol. Oh well, very cool idea! A couple suggestions: #1: Warrior Forums should have these regularly #2: There should be one contest for a new blog type site and one for new Forums since they have very different strategy and take different amounts of time to profit. Plus any other type of site people have, those are just the two I thought of. #3: An idea for a prize. Each of the 9 "losers" must put a link on their web site to the winner's page of choice. Nice quick 9 back links for a new site is always good right? I'll be watching this thread as I'm very interested. Thanks! |

i guess we are missing one more fact. Earning $1 with contextual advertising need to get them accepted in top contextual ads system (you guessed it right, adsense) Can we add some factor like, getting xx amount of traffic per day along with earning $1. |

Alright, I have decided to try and turn this contest into a fully functioning website. Everyone who has expressed interest in joining is still going to be offered a place in the contest. However, I cannot say exactly when that will begin, so you'll have to bare with me and my partner as we work out all the details. I will continue to post updates in this thread as to the progress being made on the site. So, stay tuned!

You will need to PM me your email address. Right now the contest is currently in the development stage, so it's going to take some time to actually get the contest up and running. However, if you send me your email address, I will be able to keep you updated and keep you on the list for being a contestant.
