My Local Directory Challenge

Hey warriors. After being inspired by the success of this thread

This is no Longer Amazon!

I was doing an amazon challenge, but recently lost my job so im going to go down the HARD WORK FAST REWARD line, rather then the Slow pace, Slow reward but passive line.

My goal is to start a LOCAL directory, for businesses and restaurants/takeaways/clubs etc and cold call/ visit businesses to try to get them to sign up for a monthly listing fee. I will let people post there events for free, to bring in traffic and content, and market with facebook/SEO. The value for customers will be Traffic, not SEO purposes, as i believe that with directory's, you are better targeting offline businesses, who will care more about traffic and eyeballs on their sites.

I will also try to work out deals along the way, where they can give me some coupons for their store in exchange for a months free premium listing, and i can use those coupons to get people to sign up to a newsletter (which i will sell banner ads on)

Once/if i make the first £300, im going to buy 5k flyers to promote the site with via local direct mail.

So fr i have around 20 products on the site with descriptions. Because of the theme i have to edit every individual picture down to size so it takes a little longer than i expected it to do.

I did also get a few of my Facebook friends to like the Facebook page so i could get the 30 fans to access the analytic.

Im going to start promoting the site at the weekend, when i have a little more time. Work has been tiring all week lol.

Good luck on the challenge. How are you preselling the products? Are you reviewing them or just having a description?

Good luck. I wish you meet your goals and success.

Amazon pays very little commission. Well the volume can make it big. But's its worth a challenge. It will be interesting to your your progress and how well it perform in search engines.

Today was my Pinterest Day.

Although i am still going to use Facebook ads shortly down the road, i decided that i should probably start a following on pinterest as well.

Reasons
The images of onesies will fit right into that social network. The majority of the pinterest users are female 18-26 (student age) so i think it is likely to attract a FREE interested following in this niche there.

So today i checked the sites stats to see if anything had come in (as have been sorting out my other site for a few days) and saw some hits from Facebook. Also resulted in a sale as well so thats pretty good. Im thinking it was just a fluke though!
