Hi Warriors,
Techsmith, the guys who make Camtasia Studio and other cool stuff are currently running a promotion of their latest version of Camtasia Studio (Version 5).
They are running a couple of promotions in PC magazines such as PC Plus (December edition) where they are giving away Camtasia Studio 3 completely for free.
Why?
They hope that you will upgrade from version 3 to version 5 for the special offer price of $149.
So, how do you get your free Camtasia Studio 3?
Just follow these steps...
1. Download the free trial version of Camtasia Studio 3 at:
[url>http://download.techsmith.com/camtasiastudio/enu/312/camtasiaf.exe (no affil.)
2. Go to this promotion page, complete your name, country and e-mail address and Techsmith will send you the software key to unlock the program.
[url>http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia/pcpls.asp (no affil.)
3. Just install the program you downloaded from step 1 above and then enter the software key you receive from Techsmith and you'll have a fully working version of Camtasia Studio 3 on your PC.
4. (Optional) You can upgrade to Camtasia Studio 5 if you want to for just $149. That's a savings of $150 over the full price of $299.
Don't worry though, if you don't upgrade to version 5, your Camtasia Studio 3 will still continue to work.
I have both versions and Camtasia Studio 3 is still a very solid piece of software to produce cool screen recordings. It'll do most of the things you need to do as an Internet Marketer.
Version 5 has been updated to provide some more features including a wider range of options for distributing your content, e.g. via iPod, Mp3 files, etc.
I hope you find this tip useful.
Best wishes,
Shaun |

Hi Shaun,
I was searching high and low for this. It seemed like Cam Studio had been offered a long time ago like this but after weeks of searching I gave up. Your Information came just in time. Thanks Again.
One question for anyone who knows. Is Camtasia studio 3 better than Wink?
Thanks, George Wright |

Shaun you are a star. Take a huge bow!
There should be no excuse for any warrior without Camtasia downloading it now. It does have an edge over Camstudio in it's features and usability - especially editing which is inside Camtasia (but non-existant in Camstudio). However for certain things, I'd still use some external processing..
George, Wink is good for interactive tutorials that are at a slow pace. However it's audio can be a pain sometimes.. Although the file sizes for wink can be a lot smaller, overall Camtasia wins out. (Also Wink is notoriously difficult to convert from flash swf to anything else!)
Kind regards, Spencer |

Shaun,
Thanks for this.
I had gone a couple of local bookstores to get the December issue of PC Plus, and when I had finally found one that carried it...they didn't have the December issue yet!
So now I don't even need to buy the magazine!

Worked like a charm and I'm in the states (I thought it was UK only). Thanks!
Note for US based warriors - if you upgrade don't do it from the first welcome screen because it will be in British pounds...£88... with the bad exchange rate for us in the U.S. that's like $180. Instead when you run Camtasia 3 it will ask to check for the latest version. Click yes then it will send you to the version 5 upgrade and there it's in USD for $149. |

Shaun,
You are a gentleman and a scholar.
I've been phoning bookstores (stateside) and magazine distributors trying to find out, (1)who is the US distributor of PCPLus magazine and, (2) where, in the states, I could purchase Issue 262. I located a copy of an earlier issue at B&N but they were unable to tell me when the December issue would arrive.
Thank you very much for saving my fingers, ears and fuel.

Shaun,
Many thanks for that.
Not quite sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but at least I haven't missed the offer. I have some offline clients, training consultants, where I think I may be able to provide a service they hadn't thought of.

Hey Shaun,
already heard about this from Michael Humphrey, but still thanks. Just downloaded and installed Camtasia. If it's that simple that I can work with it, I'll get myself a license for version 5.

Mike Humphries just emailed me this.
I was looking at the upgrade for 5 yesterday it's good to get it at half price.
I bought 3 almost 2 years ago but haven't used it because my pro mic didn't work with it... wish I could have gotten it free then ;-).
Thanks for this post Shaun

Hi Shaun,
You know when I saw the "threadline" I was almost thinking that it would just be the trial version.
But, then I read and see you're giving away the keys! I'll have to read more of your posts.
Happy Thanksgiving, Doug |

I purchased 3 and had been considering getting 5.
I'm jealous as all get out, cuz you guyz are now on an equal footing to me.
Anyone know if 3 runs on Vista (doubtful.)
Incidentally, if you want to know how good Camtasia is -- Check out TechSmith's program Morae -- they sell software to do interactive user testing -- and sell a version of it to the US Government!
If you haven't used Camtasia before, you'll quickly learn what an elegant user-oriented solution looks like, and why people have been willing to cough up the bux for Camtasia over CamStudio.
