I have been involved with IM since December 16th of 2007. Since January I have made no less than 2 thousand a month and as much as 4 thousand.
Currently, I am marketing to 3 different niches and follow the same plan for each one. I challenge anyone who is not making money to follow any type of organized plan of attack and not make money. It is impossible.
Here is what I do step by step. I will follow this by what I feel that I could have done in the beginning and would probably be making twice the money monthly. I just could not see the big picture.
1. Niche Research - This takes me all of 5 minutes. I go to clickbank and see what everyone else is selling meaning a product with a high gravity and a good sales page.
2. Keyword Research - Again, initially this takes me all of 5 minutes. Because my main traffic generation is article marketing i go to google and see what keywords are ranking high within article directories. Those are the ones I focus on while trying to target long tails.
3. I set up a Squidoo lens as my landing page. I also set up a hub, a blogger at blogger, and a free wordpress blog. I set and forget my squidoo lens but update my blogger blog, hub, and WP blog every other day or so. I link everything back to my Lens.
4. Write a minimum of 3 articles everyday for each niche.
5. Submit my Lens to 10 free directories a day to build my link popularity.
That is the exact process I follow and consistently get sales each and every day. By no means am I making a killing but, I am able to pay my house note and all of my utilities every single month which, is more than I thought I was going to be able to do. With the limited success I have had though, I do see IM as a way to replace my entire income and hopefully, be able to work at it full time.
I could be making so much more though but, admittedly I am a bit of a dumb ass and frequently do not look at the big picture. Here is what I wished I would have done from the beginning.
1. Got my own hosting and domains. The reason for this is pretty simple. In addition to it being "mine" I could easily have had an asset that I could have sold at some point for a nice profit if I decided my time would be better spent in another niche. As it stands now I have nothing to show for all of the link building and SEO I have done.
2. List building - Each of my three niches get at least 3000 visitors a month. By now, I could have had one hell of a list to market to. How sweet would it be to be able to be able to send an item once a week to these people? I lost a lot of money here.
3. Outsourcing - Again, this is a dumb ass moment for me. I wish I would have taken half of my profit and paid to have articles written and submitted for me. In the short haul it would have cut into my play money but, by now I have a feeling it would have paid me major dividends.
I really have to thank Chris Surfrider for bitch slapping me the other day when answering a question i asked in his thread.
He really gave me a lot to think about but, more importantly he gave me a new perspective and direction to take my business in.
ANYONE can make money doing this. As a matter of a fact, a guy I work with asked me what the hell I am always doing on my laptop and I told him. He said he wanted to give it a shot so I gave him the same outline above and showed him where everything was. He has made 4 sales already in a matter of 6 days and is excited as all hell.
Hopefully, someone can read into this post to see how simple it can be to make money. Hell, for some of the people trying to get into this 2 thousand dollars a month would probably give them the ability to all together quit their regular job and spend more time with their families. In some cases, it might even be enough to improve their quality of life, and that is what it is really all about.
So again, i say, I challenge anyone to follow any type of plan of action to the letter and not make money. It simply can not be done. |

Jeremy, I don't see how you make $2,000 per month off 3,000 visitors and no list. That's impressive!

Good job on your success. Might I suggest you add a simple newsletter sign up form or give away something for free with an opt in form, and an autoresponder service?
Otherwise its like this:
Spend time/money building traffic-->Visitors buy-->Visitors disappear-->REPEAT effort you just did
Instead it could be this:
Spend time building traffic-->Visitors buy AND some sign up for list-->Resell to list over and over.
Just a suggestion for enhancement...congrats on where you're at so far. |

Thanks for the great info.
Sounds like you are using as much free stuff as you can. By not spending much or any money to test your niche is a great idea.
I use blogs frequently to test offers. But instead of articles, I use AdWords.

Jeremy quite a few people (including me) have been telling you to get your own sites for a while now. What are you waiting for?
It's not too late, just edit your lenses/hubs to point to your own sites.

Thats really impressive.
How many hours a day would you say this takes you, to write your 9 articles ( 3 niches, 3 articles each) submit etc? It sounds like a really doable plan and 2K more a month would do me wonders.
And do you submit your articles to directories or are they for your sites? |

Rondo, I know. I am hard headed sometimes. I won a contest put on by Chris Surfrider last night and used the prize money to get my own hosting and buy my own domains. So, I am on my way on that front.
Now, If I could just figure out how to get them live lol |

Sylvia, I would say I probably put in a solid 2 hours a day maybe. I have been trying to do a better job of managing my time. Unfortunately, I spend a lot of time on clickbank to see when i make a sale lol

Hi Jeremy, I have 2 questions - Do you write on keywords where people have already written articles for - Do you make your money off the articles or you just use them as backlinks for making money off your squidoo lens - How do you choose your keywords because 5 minutes seems very short compared to the amount of time I spend
Thanks |

I use keywords that are extremely saturated but, proven successful in article directories.
I would assume most of my sales are coming through the articles but, because I submit my lens to 10 directories a day, I am starting to move up in search engine rankings. |

The directories that I have submitted to have taken my Lens. Of course, you have some that reject it but, I have not found that to be the case very often.
Here is the current list of directories that I am working off of

Hey man, how the heck can you write 3 articles a day for all 3 niches... so 9 articles total, and only work 2 hours a day?
It seems like it would take me an insane amount of time to be able to write 9 articles per day. Do you write from scratch or just find high ranking articles and rewrite them as your own? |

The secrets I want to know is: How do you know which keywords to target using Google and article directories. Can you be more specific)and also 9 articles + submissions in 2 hours? Do you write 1 article and spin it and use article submitting software?

Honestly, the way I do it, I just make my articles generic in nature and center them around a topic. I do not really depend a whole lot on SEO so, it's a little easier to bang out content. |

Hey Jeremy! I'm very impressed with what you've done! And your process seems so easy too...easy is a GOOD thing. I do have a question though and Ihope it doesn't sound too stupid. How can you tell by going to Google how high a key word or phrase ranks in article directories? Keep up the good work! STSweet |

Thanks for the post, Jeremy, I know you will help many people. I've been learning IM since November but it took me until a couple months ago to figure out pretty much the plan you just outlined. And it DOES work, and works very well. But I wasn't aware of all the directories so I thank you for that. Also, I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you say, "go to Google and see what keywords are ranking high within article directories." I would really like to understand that better. What I am doing is just targeting long tails, but only as long tail as I HAVE to go in order to feel like I have a chance to rank. And I also do not do a lot of SEO in my articles. I've found it does just as good or better to write for the human reading as it does to try to write for the computer.
Thanks again for posting that. |

I do occasionally mass submit with UAW however, the directory that I submit articles to depends on which article directories rank highly for the keywords I am targeting. |

Well Jeremy,
The Gods are certainly smiling on you!
I've been marketing since October 16th 2004 and I'm still waiting for my first Clickbank sale of an affiliate product.
I realise $2000 a month is unattainable for ordinary people, but one sale a month would be nice.
You obviously have a lot of IT experience.
I go to Clickbank but I have never heard of 'gravity' and have no idea what it is. I don't do keyword research as, although I tried to use Wordtracker and quite a few others, I had no idea what their results were supposed to mean. Gobbledegook, like thew stats page on my website. I may have had 2 visitors or 2,000. There's no way to know.
I don't know what you mean by a Google search. All you can search for on Google is websites, they only have that search engine page.
What has Google got to do with keywords and how would they know (or care) what keywords are ranking where. Do they have a ranking for every word in the English dictionary?
Still can't see what Google has to do with articles.
I, too, set up a page at Squidoo but I don't blog as I don't have the IT qualifications. I have Wordpress installed on two sites (not by me, of course) but it would take a programmer to fiddle with plug-ins, themes etc. A programmer I aint. I spent 2 days trying to set up a blog on blogger and gave it up as a bad job. Anyway, does anyone ever see a blog? I doubt it. What is there to put on a blog? I am not and nothing I do is the slightest bit interesting.
I write hundreds of articles. I have been doing so for three years. The have brought in a total of seven sales, in that time. All from the same article, that I thought was crap. I had a 'mentor' LOL that was going to teach me and I was made to write on a subject I thought was rubbish. Needless to say the mentorship lasted about a week.
I used to submit to directories but I've stopped as they produce no results. I've had one article that's been read 3,000 times on Ezine, taken and put on about 20 websites but has not produced a single sale. Never will, either.
Yes, Jeremy, the Gods are smiling on you.
Enjoy your run of good luck and I hope it lasts.
Well done.
