Help me evaluate my website idea

Hi Warriors,

I have created a website for a school project called Advertenties -.
It is a website where people put giftcards for sale and other people can buy them for a discount. I get a small fee on every transaction.

The problem:
When a seller put an add online I check the value of the giftcard. When it is sold and the buyer confirms the delivery took place I remit the money to the seller's account. This is an easy way to fraud. Because a buyer can say he/she did not receive the giftcard.
Giftcards that are made for online use are not allowed on Advertenties -

Do you have ideas to overcome this? Or a different businessmodel for this idea?
The website is online but not finished. Other feedback regarding the website is welcome!

Involving Paypal would solve everything. You have proof and invoice. Or am I missing something

Implementing pay-pal probably won't solve the issue of the buyer trying to scam their way into receiving a gift-card for free.

Also, this website is in the Netherlands and who knows how many people use paypal there? (maybe there are ... I wouldn't know).

They don't. We use iDEAL most of the time.

I thing I just put in the terms and conditions you can get in a scam. It is the only solutions I see.

You could put in the terms and conditions something like:

"In order to reduce fraud there are no refunds, unless you have first signed for your gift-card and discover a defect, or our mail tracking service shows that your item has not been delivered after x amount if time. If you discover a defect with your card, please send it back to us before x days of receiving your gift-card mail for inspection and potential refund of purchase amount."

And then ship everything with tracking and signature only, so that way the buyer is forced to sign to receive the package and if they refuse to sign and want to scam, you know it came to them since it shows in the tracking that a mailman attempted to send the package. If they attempt to scam by claiming a defect, they must send it back to you for inspection.

I think adding something like this to your TOS will do a good job of protecting you from potential fraud.

It's a good question, but there is no great answer. Fraud buyers will always find a way to scam the system. These things happen with the biggest of companies like eBay, Amazon. You can only trust in the positive intent of the buyer in such cases. We can keep tracking their transactions to check for any misuse. But, I don't see anything proactive action that can be taken to prevent such a thing.

There will always be scammers, so build the costs associated with that into your fees model.

You must have a co-payment escroe, so you have the control to the buyer and the seller.

The money is in your bank account.
You need a coder for this.

$ 500 may be enough to employ people from Agriya
