Thanks for your reply guys. Based on your notes that domain seems like a good buy.

If I will buy this domain, or buy a new one, will it make a difference in SEO terms? SERP terms? I guess what I'm trying to ask is if in Google's eyes a new registered domain or an expired domain has the same "weight" ?

There are existing domain sellers that already do this. www.swaydomains.com for instance if it's all a bit much work.

Sway Domains....where you dont get to see the name of what your buying until after you pay for it...hmmm..

You can also use expireddomains.net - ive personally been using these guys since their inception

nice little diamond in the rough if you guys learn how to tune the filters just right - you can get some gold mines to pop up every once in awhile - stay vigilant!

I thought that under the new Google update that domain names do not mean anything to Google anymore and EMD will be penalized?

The site name will have more to do with Google ranking than domain name.

I wouldn't do that anymore. As some people said, it is a past thing, now I would focus on other systems to earn money online. Create a page, post quality contents, promote it on social networks, use Ads and build mailing lists. This is the least you can do even if you decide to buy an expired domain, you should put something in it to increase traffic and reach people who may want to buy it.

While I agree with the others in that EMD do not bring traffic anymore, it is incorrect that you will be penalized for EMD domains. These days, all domains are equal in Google's eyes.

BUT, while that is true in Google's eyes, it isn't true to a human's eyes. BlackFriday.com is ALWAYS going to seem more authoritative to a human than BestBlackFridaySales.net.

The best advice is what Maxweb gave: "Create a page, post quality contents, promote it on social networks, use Ads and build mailing lists."

And if you have an EMD, then that's the icing on the cake.

The key is both knowing what domains to buy, and how they're going to sell.

The best way to make money with domains isn't just buying them, but also where you offer them, and making sure they go to the most targeted customer.

For example, if you can offer the perfect architecture name to someone interested in architecture, just owning the domain vs. focusing your marketing is going to make a world of difference, and mean the difference between many sales and no sales.

Buy domains and resell them a few dollars to a few hundred dollars and up, is a good business, as long as you know how to choose the "perfect.domain" name and where to sell it.

directi - very good question man... history is everything! At least for buying expired domains. To be confident & not risk getting the ol' Google slap down the line, you really have to look into every aspect of that domain's past. Be sure to check: Moz stats, Majestic stats, Wayback snapshots, SPAM, geo location history & keyword history.

That can take a while, but if you want to be sure, it's the only way to go. You could save time & make sure you do it well if you use a domain crawler that finds expired domains for you, grabs you all their info & even lets you rebuild the archives. That what I do - doing it manually just takes too damn long.

I recently visited a site Jobs in Pakistan - Post Free Jobs Online Apply Jobs in Lahore Karachi Islamabad Pakistan there is also a list of expired domains whose keywords are very strong for job sites.

Before buying an expired domain, you should try and know more about the history of the domain while it was still existing in order not jeopardize your future business. some domains or sites involve themselves in fraud and when their aims are reached, they get closed.

Old expiring domains are much better in compare to new registered. At first have some traffic, backlinks and some of them also PR (Page rank). Usually are indexed in major search engines, sometimes also listed in DMOZ, Yahoo directory and Google directory.
Expired domains are also much better for search engine optimalization, make this process much easier, because have trust and age history. Who thinking seriusly about make a SEO, buying expired domain name with traffic and inbound links.
