Any Investors Here?

No, I do not mean that. You're right that those are investors...but that's not the context of this sub-forum or thread. Make sense?

Semantics. If someone is buying an online business (established website with profit and metrics), then they are an investor. Or you could call them a buyer. Either or. Doesn't matter.

However, I draw a major disticntion between people buying or selling domain names, and people buying or selling websites...there's a huge difference.

My question was spurned out of noticing that almost everyone in this sub-forum is trying to sell domains or cheap websites. I haven't seen any buyers/investors...only sellers.

I would have thought that this sub-forum would have a decent combination of discussion between buyers and sellers of complete websites/online businesses. However, it seems to be full of cheap sellers trying to dump their junk domain names, or poor websites, as Joseph C mentioned.

Do you consider yourself a buyer/investor?

I'll share. I'll never consider buying a domain name, nor would I consult with a client and advocate that they buy a premium domain name. There are a few exceptions of course...but a domain name is like an idea - it has little value. So the general rule is to minimize that cost. An exception would be a startup company with considerable funding $1,000,000+ which is not something you'll see with basement warriors.

My clients only invest in complete websites/online businesses. A complete website/online business must have verifiable financials and metrics. These include tax returns and ledgers detailing expenses, income, profit, losses. They also need to include detailed reports on metrics such as traffic, traffic sources, media channels, marketing strategy, existing content.

Then, there should also be assets included with the purchase such as email service provider (the lists), domain, graphics, content, products, channels, social media accounts, corporate entity if applicable, and every other part of the online business. It's a whole package deal...not just a silly domain name.
