Do I need a cert of my domain name from an independent auth?

I have been contacted by a company that wants to buy my domain name. They claim that I need to get it "a certificate of the appraised value from an independent authority (not your broker or auction site)"

Says she can suggest some good sources - I'm assuming I would need to pay for these sources - not there yet. Apparently this "certificate" will increase the value of my site.

Does this sound like a scam?

Yes it's a well known scam that has been around a long time. The resource they will recommend is one owned by them or perhaps a friend. After you pay the fee for the certification, they will call the sale off. They get their money and you get the shaft.

    ok, that makes sense.

I didn't even know that you COULD get a cert of domain. I thought it was just based on longevity and so on.
