List Of Things To Help Improve FreeMarket

First of all, Congratulation to Freelancer.com on this inititative. I am really excited to see a competition! I truly believe that Freelancer has the Power , Audience and Funding to take this to the next level.

I know a lot of you guys are criticizing the new system but not sure if ya'll remember how flippa was when it started. So... Give it some time to improve.

I personally felt that Freelancer.com launched FreeMarket "too early" without proper inspection and testings... even after learning from launch of Warrior Payments. Was there no research done on the features that YOU MUST HAVE before launching it?

There are MANY things that could be improved but, before that.. Foundation needs to be sorted out a bit.
Here is a list of things that i would like to see changed for me to be able to at least get started:

1. Username database is not correlating with WF's logins.
For somereason, Freemarket.com thinks my username is " zobnswwoez" lol
My username is "aire".

2. Charge at least SOMETHING to list properties.
This will make ecosystem of FM ( FreeMarket ) much better.

3. Separate Websites and Domains.
4. Better verification system
5. User experience.
When i click on the menu icon, the logo disappears on the right.. Simple CSS modification will fix this. Didn't look proper on my iphone 5 either... Needs mobile optimization so i can check on my listings on the move.

6. The description page. For example: https://www.freemarket.com/sites/view.php?id=4380
No need to add all FULL HTML tags but at least add normal bold , italic, colors , Hyperlink tags.

7. " We secure the buyers payment before you transfer ownership. " ... Not a big fan of third party holding my payments when i sell something. I understand that this is done to secure that 5% and security for buyers and sellers but should remove this feature.

I would like to see " Just Sold Sites " " Most Active " etc like the competition but i can live without them for now...

If these changes are made, then i think people would start listing a bit more... while then... Freelancer.com could improve the website by comparing themself with their competion... or even clones of website/domain selling websites.

A lot of work needs to be done but i see the marketplace flourishing within 2-3 years.

What would you like improved on FreeMarket.com ?

    I would add the following:

    - Filter by auctions ending soon
    - Allow "My Listings" to show the number of visits
    - Allow clicking on profile links to see all listings by a user
    - Allow direct messaging or negotiated bid offers
    - Offer brokering for premium domains for an increased fee
    - Allow filtering by TLD
    - Allow listing owners a field to insert a link to their public analytics dashboard for that site. Maybe make the field private unless access is granted to another member by the listing owner. This should have an associated badge to help the more verified listings stand out.

I agree with you man.. I forgot about " - Allow direct messaging or negotiated bid offers" A must have!

Even on flippa, Its not flippa who sells some of my sites, Its me! i have speak with them on skype or phone once they are interested to actually close the deal.

I'll disagree with "charging for listings". I've been buying buying/selling domain names for many years & if you look at the sites producing the most & largest domain sales... they aren't charging people to list their domains (GoDaddy does have a small annual $4.95 fee though). Premium domain holders will list their names here but won't pay for it because they aren't doing it elsewhere. Domain sellers also happen to be domain buyers. (No I haven't sold websites before... only domain names)

    - Make An Offer listings option - I'd also like the domains I listed to remain in the database after the auction is over but then have the listing say "Make An Offer" rather than "Ended" or "Listing Closed". I'd like to be able to negotiate with past auction bidders & accept new offers. Freemarket can't earn any commissions on post-auction sales otherwise either. Make An Offer listings will end up producing the largest sales as timed events aren't always seen by the proper buyer at the time. That's not to say timed auctions won't produce sales. Have an option when someone makes an offer to send it to a 7 day auction (similar to Sedo) with reserve price met.

    - Extended auctions when last minute bidders try to snipe an auction. This helps ensure the seller get's the best potential price as well as allow other bidders sufficient time to place higher bids.

    - I'm only able to see 20 of my names in "My Listings" though more are in auction. Many domain sellers own hundreds to tens of thousands of names. We need to see more then only 20 of our listings.

    - Bulk submitting of domain names. Again - many domain sellers own thousands of names to so one-by-one submitting is not realistic.

    - definitely need to get rid of auctions already done when we sort by the "ENDING" category.

    - more filters - reserve met, TLD, character length of domain, (Make an offer listings, live auctions or buy it now listings)

It's a good platform. However, I haven't been fully able to try it out because I am not receiving the account email. Yes, I did check all my junk and spam folders. Have been having the issue for over a week now.

I'd like text input filters besides sliders, ability to save search / filter set and have search parameters in the URL.

    some more suggestions

    - weekly newsletter

    - editor picks / top picks... maybe even a viewer top picks but that system may be manipulated by people (can be on site and/or in newsletter)

    - affiliate program for refering new sellers/buyers? (I understand this is a toughie with already low fees)

    - larger increments when bids reach higher price points. Currently it looks like everything is set at only a $5 increment for next bid.

    - again it's crucial to extend auctions when last minute bids occur

Now that I have auctions closing today I've discovered other issues.

Apparently we can't lower reserve price once a bid has been placed. I can understand not lowering down to a current bid but let's say you have $10000 reserve & bids are at $2000. you decide to lower the reserve to $6000 but you can't do it.

On one name that has a bid I decided to add a "Buy It Now" price (happens to be equal to the reserve price). However the "buy it now" price isn't showing up in the marketplace nor on the domain listing page.

I'm getting no notifications of bids being placed... that would be nice. Are bidders getting notified that they are outbid?

As I mentioned in another thread - auctions ending soon just can't be properly seen as "make an offer" listings show up first when sorting by the "ENDING".

    - Have an ability to relist or extend auctions that haven't met reserve price (keep prior high bid price showing). With the initial Freemarket launch because of issues in the format - names were literally hidden & people didn't realize they were closing. I suppose we could remove & relist but that is an effort. Until auctions "ending" are easily sorted (without countless "Make An Offer" auctions showing first)... it makes not too much sense to list names/sites for auction.

Thanks for the feedback. The way we sort listings will be changing in the next couple of weeks to positively favor auction which should remedy some of your concerns.

DELETE button. I have a domain pending and can't delete it. Or when i don't sell it anymore, can't delete too.

Hey pho3nix26, can you PM me your domain name? I can get it released so you can relist it again. Sorry for the inconvenience, cheers.

Here is what I could see:

Use a SEM Rush API to see if the person has been hit by any algorithmic or manual penaltys

Be more like Flippa stop trying to reinvent the wheel

Make it mandatory for screenshots of earnings and traffic.

The "close" option doesn't work on any of my listings. I choose to close all of them at this time as I don't see Freemarket taking their business seriously. The site is a ghost town. Those in charge of it haven't been to this forum in months. Most people post about Flippa in the Freemarket forum here rather then what is going on with Freemarket. That's sad.

I really had high hopes initially that Freemarket could become a serious player in the domain aftermarket. Many did. However it appears that the site is broken in a variety of ways. It's a shame as when things initially kicked off I had bids on a few names. I likely would have been able to negotiate a sale with a bidder on at least one of the names where reserve wasn't met. However - there was no way to do that.

Hopefully one day things will change but that seems unlikely based on what has occurred or "not occurred" in the last 1 1/2 years.
