Does anyone care to share their site and numbers?

I will go first...

I started my first membership site (http://www.SuperQuickVideos.com) with another Warrior mid May 2008. We popped the site up within 2 weeks of coming up with the idea.

The first few months we didn't get as many members as we hoped but now 3-4 months on we have around 120 members each paying around $27-$37 per month!!

It's pretty exciting for us and even those we don't have hundreds of members, it's just the begining right..oh and we don't even have an affiliate program either! (in the processing of setting one up...that should boost numbers.)

..and after I got the taste of SWEET recurring income I'm just finishing off setting up ANOTHER membership site (http://www.KillerPresellTemplates.com)!

Hope that's a good intro to get people started.

What is the benefit of starting a membership site?

The biggest benefit is having monthly recurring income! You can do the work once and get paid repeatedly for it. There's nothing quite as beautiful. However, most membership sites ARE a fair amount of work, so this isn't a set it and forget it model in most cases.

Hi everybody. I created my first membership site quite a while ago, and don't even remember any stats on it. But, the best one I've had was created some time last year and made just under $3000 in its first month.

- Members: About 1700 members (most are free), and practically all came from viral marketing

It's a great system, and I'm going to be updating it with more features soon after I launch my newest project.

I'd say that there are two tricks to having a successful membership site:
1) Making it viral--absolutely essential, and

2) Continuing to add value, because no matter how great it is, people have a tendency to get bored over time

3) Continue to market it yourself in addition to the viral aspect, because no matter how viral it is, it's always good for you to start more branches of viral members yourself.

I've always been pretty good at #1, but I've made mistakes on 2&3 in the past.

Thanks, jkowaljr....you're right about outsourcing being a time saver. The current manager has some PLR , and we'll use some of that.

But we're also thinking about the "value" and "prevent boredom" aspects as Romell mentioned....and for that, I'm going to try and line up some good interviews on "in-demand" topics that will be available to members only, on the site. Audio and video will be the things that can set this site apart in our category, we think.

I got the Bob Canyon/David Preston WSO on Interviewing, so that should help me a lot.

Gotta learn then DO. I'll keep you posted.

Anyone else have thoughts to share about the value of adding audio and video, or what they've done specifically to make yourselves stand out or plan to do?
