I've heard through the grapevine that twitter is not allowing automatic posts anymore, please tell me this isnt true! ;-(

How would they know an automatic post from a manually sent one. They would have to kill their whole API system I think

Let's face it, spam is a reality. It's only fitting and proper for Twitter to set up certain guidelines to meet the chanllenge.

This did go through, finally, today (Sept 1)... I hadn't heard of it. Went and manually updated several blog posts that did NOT happen. Thinking something wrong with the WP plugin, Tweet This (it went through several updates over the past few days, which I just did the updates but didn't go look at things... so this is what the updates were about). For at least this particular plugin, they gave an excellent tool to update things with the Twitter Dev people... I had things back up and running very quickly. A pain (mea culpa; I tend to be brain-dead with info overload most of the time ;-) ... but like William said, spam is a reality. I'm glad to see Twitter do this.
