Anyone up for introductions? I'll go first...

I've been writing off and on just within the WSO forum for about a year now. I am much more interested in creating and marketing my own products, but I find that writing creates a nice cushion for me to invest towards my other IM activities.

I've done some ghostwriting, but now tend to write PLR more often. I find there's more value for my time by selling PLR.

I find one of the biggest challenges is deciding what to write about. At least with ghostwriting, you don't have to make that decision.

I'm 34, and a proud mother of my wonderful little 2 year old girl Sarah Beth. I work full time (luckily from home) as a software programmer, so my time towards IM is typically limited to when Sarah gets to bed.

Hi,

After a long career as a secretary and then as a reporter, I'm not retired. Because writing has always been a natural talent, I'm trying to write my long overdue mystery novel. (I've wanted to write an Agatha Christie story since I was 10 and my best effort to date that I started several years ago is sitting on my hard drive waiting for attention. )

In the meantime, I'm using my professional writing skills to produce articles to promote my sites and provide advice for people (dog training, mental health and travel mostly).

At the end of last year, I joined Elance and produced articles for several clients before I realized that payment vs effort for that type of work isn't going to get me where I want to be. I decided to move into PLR and produce materials that other people can market.

As far as my personal life: I live in Canada and enjoy travelling and photographing what I see (scenery, nature, historic sites, reenactments, agricultural events involving horses, etc.). My last trip 12 years ago took me from eastern Canada to New Orleans through San Antonio, Tombstone and along the California to Washington coastline. I loved it!

This group sounds like it would be beneficial to members and I'm looking forward to sharing ideas and issues related to producing and selling PLR.

One of the first things that comes to mind is the difference between PLR and MRR. I know it's all in the rights being sold, but at what point does it change from PLR to MRR since many products I've seen offer very similar licenses.

I have lots of other questions, too, so I'm looking forward to seeing this group grow.

I delved into being a writer, for others, after I started writing articles for myself to add to article directories. I write to generate extra income until I get my IM business up and running. I am active in article and affiliate marketing, social networking, blogging and flipping sites. I am in the process of creating my first plr package to sell as a WSO. It should be complete by this weekend. Yes, plr makes much more since than writing articles with tight deadlines for very little money.

Other than that… I live in beautiful, sunny Southern California. Sylvia, I have lived in all those places you mentioned. What a coincidence.

This forum should be a great way to connect with other writers.

My intro:

Well let me start by saying that in June I knew what I had coming. I knew that once summer started my parents would make me go out and get a JOB. I was not going to settle for crap working conditions, terrible pay, whacky hours, a uniform etc.

Not to mention that I really couldn't be employed over summer because ever other week I'd be away on vacation.

That being said, I knew there had to be a better way....

I owned a WSO about writing articles and threw some together for a site I was working on. Realizing that it wasn't hard at all I decided that if there was enough demand I'd like to offer my own service. I figured that the money would work out to be much better then the minimum wage I'd get anywhere, and I could do it from the comfort of my room. It was my ideal job.

A couple weeks later I had plenty of customers coming back on a repeat basis - and had managed to snag a JV with one. This JV now brings me the vast majority of my customers. I soon realized that I wanted to put more of my business on autopilot.

In the beginning I had a friend working with me to get the articles done on time. I now have a staff of 4 writers - each working 2 + hours a day to pump out the orders. My JV customer keeps sending great new leads that are bringing me money day after day.

It's a blast to own my own business! Looking back I went from working a few hours per day in my spare time to make some spending money, to now running a small freelancing firm with big-name customers. Plus, now money's no longer an object to me and I really don't do much work anymore other then delegate the work and review it - but I'll eventually source that out too.

Hopefully I can keep growing my business (and income ) over the next four years so when I'm done with college I can just run an online company and never have to report to a JOB.

Your story is very impressive. So much success in so little time. You have the art of manifestation down to the T. Keep it up and you will be a thriving entrepreneur in no time.

About to start pumping out some QUALITY plr products / memberships. Watch this space. We will certainly be turning some heads

Wow glad to see people coming on board and posting. Sylvia, btw from my perspective, the difference between PLR and MRR is, PLR "typically" means you can fully own the content, modify it, author it etc. While MRR means you cannot change the actual content, but you can assume the author, ie put your name on it. But there are no set "standards" for all these rights, so it's always important to review each product's rights on it's own.

What's your best/favorite way to come up with niche ideas for creating PLR?



I like to follow what's hot at EZA, and choose competitive markets to drill down to a niche. Although sometimes I drift... discarding niche selection and going wtih a topic I enjoy writing about (like my last one, on Pregnancy). That niche didn't do too bad for sales, but moved slower than more competitive niches.

I've always been good at writing. Just a natural knack. I love language and stories in general so copywriting is a natural fit! I get to try new perspectives and put people in a certain frame of mind.

I'm very fortunate to be able to work from home with my husband Timo (tj on the forum here). I've never wanted to settle down in a JOB (and all the ones I've had were horrible)...so I've decided that running my business is my "baby" and I'd rather devote 12 hours to it than 8 to making someone else rich

I am new to writing PLR, so I am eager to know clever ways to find a good niche.
