Why my alexa ranking rolled back from 2million plus to 4million?

I was very happy to monitor my blog that is 7 months old, I saw it in the ranking in alexa from 7million plus then slowly went down to 2million plus. That was from June to November. In the month of November, December and January I posted only a few articles and I advertised one of my article in the traffic exchanges, now when I checked in the alexa ranking it rooled back to 4million plus.

What is the wrong in my blog? Is that because I involved it in the TE or it is because I only have few articles for 3 months? Please let me know if you know what is really the reason.

Thanks,
#2million #4million #alexa #back #ranking #rolled

If you want lower Alexa Rankings then simply increase the daily traffic flow to your blog.

Check your Google Analytic and learn exactly how many visitors your blog is getting every day.

Your blog is probably not getting consistent traffic every single day.

Just work on your traffic flow every single day. That should help!

The amount of content you publish on your blog has nothing to do with the alexa rankings. Alexa Ranking are all about the traffic!!

I wish you the best of the best!

    Keep up the great work!

    Cheers!

Thank you freedom blogger, but my traffic now is higher than in the past... when my ranking in alexa was 2 m 600 my monthly unique visitors was only 1,400 plus and now it is already 2,595 but my alexa ranking has rolled back to 4m plus because I've got more traffic in TE.

Not true. You could have 1 million people on your site a day, and have a terrible Alexa rank. Why?

Alexa tracks visitors who have the Alexa toolbar. If you have visitors with low internet IQ, there is a good chance your score will reflect that...even if you have high traffic.

There are a few reasons why your website Alexa traffic rank not improving. Here are a few of them:
    1. You didn't proactively add new content: New content gives a signal to Alexa that your blog is an active blog.
    2. Not building backlinks: Backlinks still make a huge impact in increasing rankings
    3. Alexa didn't receive user data: Use Alexa toolbar on your web browser and display Alexa rank widget.
    4. Not traffic increase: If your blog don't steadily increase the traffic base, Alexa rank won't improve fast.

Don't waste your time with engaging in traffic exchange to increase Alexa rankings. Instead, try to post unique and quality content that people and search engines like alike.

Hope you found this tips are informative. Happy blogging

  • I have seen the same thing happen. I chalk it up to an increase in traffic to other types of sites.

Back in November my site was hovering around 70-80K, since that time my site has dropped back to 219K (just checked a minute ago). You might think WOW (well I know I do). But my traffic has actually grown over that time according to GA.

Now I do have an authority site and all of my competition has had similar drops in Alexa (yeah, I keep an eye on them almost as much as my own). I figure since the niche is somewhat seasonal, it peaks in July/August that I will see Alexa pick up in the next few months.

Alexa rankings are fairly worthless. Just measure your site's success by Google Analytics.

Yeah, Alexa is essentially worthless - I wouldn't worry about it. The important measuring sticks are your own traffic reports like Google Analytics, AWStats, etc.

  • I wouldn't call it useless. You can use it to monitor some of your traffic and it does give you some of the demographics of your site visitors.

Work a bit with bloggers from your niche, write blog posts, invest time / money in blog marketing you should get the alexa ranking up in no time. In my experience, bloggers and people who are resident in the blogosphere are the most likely ones to have the Alexa toolbar installed

Alexa Rank measures the number of Alexa-toolbar-installed people who have visited your site. So your target audience is computer literate people who are interested in your blog niche. It's entirely possible that a few such viewers abandoned your blog over the past couple of months and because of that, your Alexa rank fell.

Here are two ways you can improve your Alexa rank:

      1) Guest Blogging - Search the net for blogs in your niche that have a lower Alexa rank. Then try to guest blog on those blogs. Hopefully, the Alexa-toolbar-installed people who read your guest-post will also visit your blog, hence giving you a lower Alexa ranking.

      2) Forum Postings - Check for forums related to your blog niche that have a lower Alexa ranking. Open-up interesting threads on those forums. This will allow you to build a strong relationship with the forum members. Then you can woo the Alexa-toolbar-installed readers to visit your blog for "more information".

Alexa is just a useless metric anyone would want to worry about.

There are better things you can focus your attention and effort on such as the actual number of REAL targeted visitors landing on your site.

Don't let that tool sidetrack you.
