u dont need anything else but your permission to start period. just jump right in and go at it. its ok if you are not perfect at it cos if you are at first then in my opinion, you waited too late to start . so just do it and learn as you grow.

Talk your ideas for a business over with experienced people, if they think your pitch is good enough; go for it. They might give you some valuable feedback along the way, which never hurts!

What you need to learn quickly in business!

1. Have drive and a go get it attitude. Business wont just fall on your lap.
2. Cash flow management
3. Good product to sell or good service offering with processes in place
4. Sales skills
5. Closing skills
6. Don't be complacent
7. Work on your business as if your life depended on it. Don't slow down.
8. Have so much going on, that you don't feel rejection.
9. Build a big pipeline fast
10. You only fail if you give up.

Just do it, as Shia says. If you are good at something start doing it, as freelancer at the beginning. Connect with people, build a team and it will be much easier

you need to start a business? then start the business. If you just stay there and thing about your fears and other worries, you will find yourself with a million fake excuses why not start the business. If you have the capital just start on doing what you love and mostly your passion will convert to money. but dont just do this blindly, have a strategy, well set plan and write down a business plan. with this you will be able to tell where you are going and what you need to do to avoid failing. If you are asking this question, that means you aren't ready yet. You need to know about your whereabouts to start a business.
You must confirm your capital first. The amount is not necessarily big but you must have it in your hand.
You should be brave and confident,
You must have a clear concept what you might loose.
Your business plan needs to be well defined. These includes when you change your plan due to the situations.

I think it really depends of the kind of business you want to start...

If you want to do affiliate marketing and work from home you probably need this:
- to be able to push yourself (because there is no boss doing it for you)
- you need some skills on the computer (not many though)
- you need some money to get things going

If you want to go door to door and sell vacuum cleaner...
- you better be a real good salesman

Why are you scared? If you able to start a business, then you know that in the begging, you never be a Bill Gates, you must work hard, give your full time to your business with dedication. All you really need is a Dream, a Vision, and a Settled Decision!!

The rest is just a matter of self-discipline, will power, the right knowledge, and a lot of massive consistent action!

First, you must be very clear with exactly what you want to accomplish.

What kind of business model do you want to work with and build?

Do you just want to build network marketing, or just affiliate marketing, or maybe sell your own digital products and service and build your own blog online - or maybe you even want combine it all!

There are many option online!

Just keep learning, dream again, set goals, and go for it!!

You will make it happen!!

Unlike a job, you need to develop two things
1. Patience and
2. Motivate yourself to apply constant efforts until you find breakthrough in business.
If you are starting for ground up then I would recommend you to do part time work and put remaining hours for your business unless you have accumulated large funds to meet business expenses. This way you will be able to pay-off business expenses.
In any case you would need to fine tune your sales skills, sales pitch. I would not recommend you to depend 100% on others to do sales and financing. Even though you are starting with partners who are good in sales and financing, you must learn these skills and become all-rounder to understand how things work in the unfamiliar sides (fields) of your business.
If you are joining established family business, then no matter what education (degree) you have, you should start working from lower level or least important function in the business and go up in stages. This approach helps you develop human interaction skill that will be helpful in long run.

Before putting your hands on any business, you must need to know some points in mind:

1. What is your product and how is solving a problem or creating a new market ?
2. Who are the people AKA team who will get it done ?
3. How will you grow your business ?
4. Where will you use the money which you are asking for ?
5. What is your short term and long term objective ?

If you want to be a business owner (it sucks to grow old just being an employee) get started doing business because you can only learn while doing it. Making excuses won’t help you start a business . Keep on taking small steps to improve your business. Expect to make mistakes but don't give up.

The only way to start is to START. If you sit around and procrastinate, then you look back a couple years later and are still in the same place you are now. Take baby steps and just do something everyday to drive your goal of a successful business forward.

A business is really just a personal project, and you don't need permission to start one of them. You just need to recognise fear, doubt and obstacles and find ways to address them.

If you want some kind of structure to explore a business idea/start a business, then I'd highly recommend 'Screw Work Break Free' by John Williams.
