That's a whole lot of month but I'm sure their are many people out there whose first adsense $100 comes even after six months.

What's your income like right now on that same website ?

I don't do adsense anymore. I think stopped that a few years ago now. That site now sells ads and I have not touched it been honest for a while. Not a big earner but pays for some bills while I do my own job as a web designer.

Geez, that's a great question. My first EVER check was a $7 from Adsense as well. Back then I had no clue about duplication and scale. My second ever commission was from AWeber for just over $35. But to answer your question it probably didn't happen till after 2 1/2 years in when I created a 3 page funnel and some training videos on a plugin I purchased on JVZoo. The worst and best part of it was, I was working out of coffee shops EVERYDAY because I was living out of my car. Those days were really hard to just trust that I would one day start to figure this thing out!

I wish I had gotten around some people who were WILLING to HELP ME at first and not just out to make a few bucks. As you have probably figured... this whole industry can be shady.

DannyBags - I'm in PHX too - would love to chat sometime.

To answer the question - I made my first $120 from an unsolicited blog advertisement back when I was blogging anonymously about getting out of debt.

I made my 2nd $100 years later though (this year actually) from an ebook. Looking back I really wish I had investigated the reason why the guy approached me about advertising on my blog and reached out to other advertisers.

      Great question guys.

It took me about 4 years ;-) I had this really small forum about Britpop music... I basically knew every member (thats how small the community was)... hence it took for ever to make some money with adsense.

Shortly after I started blogging and things changed quickly. Especially because of paid articles.

@TheDevloper: This sounds interesting. Are you still doing this?

I've made my "first $100" so many times that I can't even remember half of them.

        Here's a few:

My very first nonemployee check hundred dollars came from writing for the content mills (text broker/iwriter/constant content) back when that was a big thing to do.

I think I made my first hundred dollars within two or three days at five dollars a pop per article. You can imagine how many articles it took, and why it took two or three days.

I'm very grateful for that experience because it made me a better writer (volume is an excellent way to practice a skill), but I wouldn't recommend that course today.

My second first hundred dollars came from client work writing sales copy. That took about 24 hours, and it was much more than $100. I simply ran Facebook ads to a sales page and had someone pay me through PayPal for a project.

If you're first starting out online and in business, I can't think of a better learning process than freelancing. However, it is a nightmare of a business and in my opinion WAY WORSE than working for a corporation. Instead of one boss you have 50 (or however many clients you have).

I got out of that business really quick.

My third first hundred dollars came from Kindle sales. That took about 30 days from idea to actually earning the money from launching the book.

        I still do this today.

My fourth first hundred dollars came from information marketing/product sales online. I'm in multiple niches, but the first hundred dollars that I earn from that took me about a week from idea to money and PayPal.

That being said, information marketing is the one that scaled the fastest. I went from $100 to $50,000 in a single month really, really quickly. I haven't found a business that scaled
        that quickly.

The thing to remember is that you won't make a dime until you find one thing and focus on it UNTIL it makes you money. Every hour you spend doing something else simply forces the money earning process to take longer.

Focus is more important than you can even imagine.

My first $100 (net profit) was back in 2004ish selling used books when it was ultra profitable on Amazon and Half.com. Now it's not even worth the effort unless you have a good source for books and know what to buy and when. Used to be a brainless and easy way to make money buying almost any book for $0.10 and turning it into $25+.

I made that first $100 net profit in 2 or 3 days.

Tried most of the things over the years.

Right now I have 800 videos on Youtube about half of them rank in Google Organic searches.

Not a cracker in money so far.

800 videos on Youtube should make some decent money. Are they in niches where there are ads? you can apply for youtube ads and make some revenue that way too. Also make sure you have your information part with links to offers.

          Hey Linzzz
          Thought for you.
Videos that rank are valuable. I'd ask yourself are they rentable?
People really want exposure in SERPS so go through your videos and see if they could be relevant to a local business.
Let's say you have a video about playing guitar -- ask a guitar shop if they want it for $100 a month and add an annotation, custom thumbnail etc with their details...Sell it by letting them try for free ...but add your own tracking phone # for $5 a month.

          Hello
With 800 videos what are you doing? Surely you have tried to send traffic to affiliate offers, use adsense...or some method to make money. It hardly seems possible.

          Well Linzz

I have to say to you that you are really stubborn and determined, so you will eventually make money on the Internet.

I guess your videos are not targetting long tails, If so, you already will have generated some money from then.

Try wide markets, not niches. Try making a lot of post within one website.

Now making money on the Internet is much harder than it used to be.

hehe this kind of topic brings old memories back to the present.

In the dail-up period i started several websites with the "geobuilder" of geocities. Some year later and 100's of crappy sites further i received my first 250$ cheque thru some kind of high CPC program called clickfusion ( this was around the year 2000 ).

You can imagine i told all the world about it at that time hehe.

I made my 1st ($425.00) online in just few days (after much trial and error I finally devised a repeatable business model).

At the time I had NO product, NO website, NO list, and ZERO money to invest...Then on the advice of another marketer, I created my 1st WSO revealing how I did it. It made WSOTD.

Meanwhile another big name marketer took notice and offered to JV with me to co create products which also went on to great success (along with 2 more of my own WSO's).

Now I'm NOT going to list that 1st WSO here (nor any of my products) as I do not wish to spam. My only purpose here is to illustrate how suddenly things can change to the positive for you if you keep learning and keep making effort!

I made my first $100 actually in one day, creating a game which consisted in sharing a custom link to your friends using yahoo messeger, broadcasting to all members in your yahoo list. My website crashed because I was using a shared hosting which costed me around $1. I was a begginer back then. The site was online 3 days and I made $300. After that I was suspended because I was generating more a more traffic so they had to put an end to my money making machine. It was fun

I'm with Linzzz, Haven't earned a profit in 15 years. Although I did waste about 8 years with MLM (my fault). I spend about 1K per year trying everything that makes others income (too many to list here). What bothers me the most is....when so many people are selling their money making systems that claim to earn 10K per month. If they can earn 10K per month, why do they need to sell any system? It's because that's how they are earning 10K per month, selling us their fantasy income garbage. I could never sell an info product in the money making niche unless it actually work and was proven to work by at least 100 reviewers.

For the last 3 years I have been practicing seo. A few sites showing up on page 2, still trying for the #1 spot.

You need to find a point where you change your game plan. I think building your own niche product or website would be fun and in return bring you more money. I think affiliate marketing these days are not as easy as it was. There are a lot of people out there promoting the same stuff. And even if you have build a list, there is a chance that your list would have received the same offer several times from other marketers. Slow build niche sites can be the way forward.

I've been trying a variety of things for fifteen years as well and nothing has been extremely successful because I get scattered. I'm working on a solid plan to get to money. I've made decent money blogging for a few clients and managing adwords campaigns. My own adsense sites make about 5-10c a day which isn't great.
We will get there if we focus and persist.
And I agree with DannyBags that there are lot of people out there wanting to take money without really helping. And I'm inspired by your tenacity and focus.
I think you get successful when you stop looking for the next big shortcut and just do something learning what you need when you need it but not stopping and changing horses midtrip, etc. etc.

Exactly. The scatterbrained approach gets one nowhere. 2015 was a totally unfocused year for me. I was all over the place with different ecommerce ventures (which was once very lucrative for me years ago), and finally it just hit me that I am tired of ecommerce....For 2016 my goal is to focus. Don't be all over the place. You will get NOwhere.

Several years ago, I made my first $100 ($4k) within a couple of days of launching an ecommerce website in the home improvement industry. Went on that year to make an insane amount of $$$, but I quickly developed a penchant for living the lux life and blew everything. Rebuilt, but kept spending and finally shut down..now trying to find a new way to make my next mil. Poo.

        Hi everyone.

I firstly apologize for posting unrelated to the topic.

If there's a forum member who has experience with stiforP, i have a question that i hope to find the answer here.

I just checked my pre-enrollee stiforP account today after long time idling, in my Genealogy there have been 21.049 Paid Members under me in the Powerline. Seeing this number of paid members, i'm now planning to join stiforP membership under the Option 3 (Yearly Membership Plus which costs $149.95 per year + $50 sign up fee).

The question i need the answer is, if i join stiforP today, will those 21.049 Paid Members still be placed under me in the matrix and powerline?

If those 21.049 paid members are placed under me once i join the membership, then this will earn me around $5,000 next month. But i don't know how their system works, either placing me above all those paid members once i'm joining or even dropping me under them for joining late than everyone.

I've been searching the answer over the internet for a long time, and still never find even a single answer. I really hope you guys would share your experience regarding my question.

thank you everyone, and forgive me for my bad English.

Believing in not having all you eggs in one basket, I started out with multiple income streams online.

I started building websites for my fandoms (various cartoons and comic book characters) in 1997, but never monetized any of them. Around that same year, I joined FanFic.net and started posting a lot of sex filled fanfiction, which also did not bring in money. However, as a result of these 2 things, I gained quite a large following, and so when I did start monetizing in 2004 - it only took a few weeks to see my first $100.

In 2004 I started out with Zazzle (beta tester), CafePress, Amazon Affiliates (beta tester), Lulu (beta tester), TagFoot (no longer pays for content), AnswerBag (no longer pays for content), Associated Content (now called Yahoo Answers and no longer paid for content - used to pay the most in the early days - was my top income stream for years), Commission Junction, LinkShare, and Helium (turned out to be a scam, never paid any author a penny AND stole their work - required a lawsuit for authors to get the rights to their work back). There were others but most only pad pennies and were out of existence by 2010.

I had links to all those things from my author home page web site which has been online since 1997 (and is still online today - it's the link in my sig - I changed the url in 2013)

I'm not sure how long it took to reach $100, but I started monetizing in August and had made at least $100 by December.

However, NONE of these places paid me a SINGE PAYMENT of $100 (the $100 was a total of all income streams together)

I did not make my first $100 payment from a single place until 2007. I joined Squidoo in April 2007, and got my first payday of .37c in June 2007. In October 2007 I wrote the fist "Big Lens" on Squidoo (an article 20,000 words long, called "Publishing Methods", that compared Big House publishing, Indie Press publishing, POD publishing, and Vanity Press publishing, based on my personal experiences in having published books in each method). In November 2007 got my first pay of $100+ from a single place: $200 from Squidoo, all of it from the Google Adsence traffic for that one lens. From November 2007 until Squidoo went offline in September 2013, that one lens continued to bring in NO LESS then $90 each and every single month.

Today my best income comes from Amazon Kindle, followed by Zazzle, then LinkShare. And I still use ONLY my author website to promote any of them, relying on traffic from readers of my fan fiction.

I do absolutely 100% zero marketing. ALL of the traffic to my site is organic via people just randomly searching and somehow finding it. I have no "lists" (not even sure what that is, but I'm always seeing WF posts saying you can't make money online without "lists"), don't do any email (don't even know how to use email) mailings or newsletters, do not have a 'squeeze page" (also seems to be commonly recommend), have never bought ANYTHING (ads, traffic, links, followers, etc), or done any of those other "recommended things" you MUST do to make money online.

Also, you don't find the whole "buy me" hype on my website. What you do find is me writing lots of pages, each page detailing events from my every day life. My site is like a blog on a really large scale (6,000+ pages), and it's mostly just me having hissy fit rants and complaining about various events in my every day life.

People who visit my site and then later buy my books, often contact me to say, the reason they bought my books, was because they had been following the drama of my life via reading my site, and decided they just "had" to buy my books, because they wanted to see if my fiction writing was as dramatic, angry, and temperamental as my raging and ranting "blog" posts. - they liked something I wrote and wanted to read more = BOOM income with ZERO marketing. Will it work for others? No clue.

If you were to try to repeat my "method" to online income, you need to be able to write A LOT every day AD have enough stuff going on in your life to be able to write A LOT about it. While every one says "content is king", all of my online income comes down to one thing:

A LOT OF CONTENT IS KING!

I've been posting new articles on my site EVERY DAY since 1997, and most of them are minimum 5,000 words. (Keeping in mind that I am a full time author, type 91 words a minute - that's 5k+ an hr - write in 8 hour sessions 7 days a week, and write up to 37,000 words a day, averaging 11,000 words a day most of the year. 'm also publishing a 5,000 word short story each week and a 50,000 word novel every month or so, in addition to the daily articles on my site. So, when I say a lot of content is required to make a 100% marketless method work, I do mean A LOT of writing.

The first time I got banned from AdSense, you probably weren't born yet. I never made a dime on AdSense. Bah! Humbug! Never liked that anyway.

The first month I did Squiddo sites, I made $400. Then Squidoo sold out. Bummer.

In my first ventures in 1992, I sold purebred cats through websites. Probably made about $600 a month for a year a so. The internet changes (if no one has told you that before.) I ranked not more than 7th on over 100 search engines for "siamese cats" for a long time. That's not true anymore. Well, after 1996, I quit selling registered kittens so that had something to do with my results.

Today, I make $20 - $30 a month on my Kindle sales, $60 a month on eBay sales, $20 or so on my Amazon sales and a few bucks here and there on affiliate sales.

If my 20 or so years of marketing on the internet has taught me anything is stuff that you are going to hear over and over and over and ... yeah. Over. Choose a thing and stick with it. This doesn't happen overnight. It takes a while.

I am (finally) learning that stability has value. I have a Christmas-themed site that I have had for several years. This year, it really took off. I am making a few hundred on that site this year. I have another site that represents our brick-and-mortar business. I frankly did not realize that so many of our customers rely on that website for follow-up information. Did I monetize that site well? Of course not. But I am now. And I will continue to do so in the future. It is paying off quite well. It's stuff like "I can't believe how well this works in the garden" (with affiliate links). And I am up front about the affiliate links. I tell them "There are affiliate links here and when you buy, we get a very small commission. But it helps to support the web site and the [business name] so we really appreciate your support. Thank you! If you need to know more, just give us a call at xxx-xxx-xxxx".

And we DO get calls. Which I LOVE! It means that people are going to the website and they are participating.

So here's the bottom line. Dude, if you are not making any $$ in whatever time you have invested into the endeavor, you need to either change your ways or get out of the internet business.

I think what most people do not understand is that the internet is just another marketing medium. If you could send out a postcard or have a TV commercial or do a print advertisement in a newspaper, how would that convert? The internet is no different. It is just another place to advertise and a marketing platform. I think people feel that the internet is a magical place that will bring them huge returns for advertising crap. That is simply not true.

A lot of IM marketing is HOW to market on the internet -- "How to do Profitable Video" -- "Make your sales page work" -- "Increase conversion rates" -- That kind of stuff. But the bottom line (yes! net profit) is whether or not your method works and whether or not what you are selling has value.

Example: My husband raises chickens. We advertise them on the internet. People come to our business and they order a specific hatch. (My husband keeps 5 different strains of chickens and 4 different strains of turkeys. People order what they want and he takes a deposit, puts the eggs into the incubator and a month later, his customers come pick up their chicks or poults.)

I think what most people don't get is that the internet is just an electronic newspaper. But that electronic newspaper has billions of classified ads.

How does one business stand out? How does one product stand out?

That, my friend, is the challenge of internet marketing. And that is the question that needs an answer in respect to what you are selling and how it will impact your customer. I think that is what a shi ** dot the I ** t load of peole don't get.

If you are one of them, you need to pack your bags and go away because you cheapen this marketing medium. Internet marketing is a fantastic medium. It can put your business or product in front of so many people so fast that it will literally make your head spin. But (contrary to popular opinion), people are not that stupid that they don't see a pile of crap from a mile away. Okay. The horrible smell may give them a clue.

So if your product is crap, then you are not going to make it. If you are a really good salesperson, you may make some $$ but it won't last (Ref: Rich Jerk and he will tell you that upfront. And his product was not crap but his sales tactics were).

So I have gone off on a tangent here but what I am trying to convey is that for most of us, results not only take effort but time. Crazy crap makes money, too, though. I sell manuals for equipment that I never thougt would sell at all. I make a post on my farm site about something that works for dormant spraying fruit trees and I make $100 or more that month.

Get out of your head. Do what you need to do. I'm just sayin'.

Depends on how you measure it. It took me about six months from the time that I first had the idea for what I wanted to do (sell a $19.97 ebook giving a way to fix a common medical condition) and the time that I had the ebook written, the website up and all the PP, eJunkie and other technical stuff done and ready to go. Once that was done, though, I made my first sale about two weeks after I put the site up, and had made $100 after about seven weeks. I was selling about five ebook a month for the first year or so, so averaged about $100/month during that year. Did around triple that the second year, and tripled it again the third.

My feeling is that if you don't make at least $50 in your first month online, you're probably doing something wrong. Maybe you've chosen the wrong niche, maybe you're not getting the word out about your website, maybe your content sucks. But some piece of the puzzle is not what it should be.

Fixes for the above, in order:

Is anyone else making money in that niche? If the answer's no, don't waste any more of your time. You're not going to either.

Do you have a plan for publicizing your website, and if so, are you following it? If this question is making you go "Huh?", start asking questions here until you get a response that makes sense to you.

Get someone you trust to give you an honest answer to look at your content and critique what you're doing. Does your writing suck? Do you not come across well on camera, or in MP3 format? Is your offer limp? Is your website boring? A fresh pair of eyes can make all the difference.

It was nice to read your replies. Based on the replies someone new or someone who haven't tried a specific type on income can figure out how much time each one require. A quick conclusion is that income from Adsense usually takes several months to years, while arbitrage or selling services can make money instantly.

    To respond to the question:

My first $100 ever was made by investing $50 in a CD-writer in 2002 and burning CDs for friends who dind't have one. It took few months to reach it.

My first $100 online was made in the first month from freelancing on Rentacoder in 2005.

My first $100 from adsense was made in 2007 after several months after launching my website and figuring out how to promote it.

My first $100 from affiliate marketing was made in 2010, 2-3 months after starting my wordpress related blog.

My first $100 from selling my own products was also made in 2010, by removing adsense ads from a tool website and making it freemium. Made that in the first month.

My first $100 from sponsored posts was made in 2011, when people started to contact me privately to write about their products.

Right now I am not using adsense or any kind of display ads anymore. I do not offer my services to others in exchange of money anymore. I do not copy CDs anymore, but I am still making money from selling my own products, affiliate marketing and sponsored posts.

I did my first $100 in 2007 doing paid reviews.

I created a myblog.wordpress.com blog, wrote some random posts
then applied for sponsored reviews and PayPerPost, then took some
assignments and made $145 in a month.

Fun Fact: I thought product makes really wanted me to review their products, but it was all about getting backlinks. While I made a lot of money by creating a bunch of websites with the money I received from free blogs, the Google penalized my websites and now I think I would have made much more if I didn't do those paid reviews.

Then in 2010, I deleted some blogs, sold a few and started over. 5 years now and I am doing good.
Its a slow money from blogging but its steady and there is a peace of mind.

*Really amazing to read all these posts. Thanks everyone for sharing.

By 3 months I was making $1 a day, and then roughly 3 months later I was at $10/day, then $20-30 a day. Then I moved into ppc/facebok/ppv... then was doing 100+/day. To this day I'am still collecting adsense checks

i was excited that day.. i still remember the days i used to get excited seeing 0.04 cents earned today in adsense long time ago.. when i was just passionate about running my first blog and then discovered adsense.

Recently i had a $400 day from different sources ,which was a milestone.. hopefully that will get more regular.

My first $100 was made on day 1 of a website launch of a subscription based service. I had 20 folks sign up on first day at $6.99 each x each month. Within 7-8 months recurring revenue was over $5k/month. To be honest it took me about 6-7 months to go from idea to initial website launch. The site ran making $5-6k/month for about 3 years strong then revenues dwindled due to my niche not being as popular any more. Current the site still makes about $1k/month and there is some room to grow but it is tough.

      Interesting question.

For me, first online income of > $100 is more than 15 years ago, so I had to dig back through the archives a bit to find out where it came from:

Turns out the first $100 was a mix of advertising revenue from a banner ad network called Burst Media, and affiliate commissions from TravelNow. We were also doing direct-sold advertising and sponsorship deals around that time, but I think they came a few months later.

First $100 took about 15 months from when we started working on the site - and about 10 months from when it went live.

From memory we hadn't been in a huge hurry to bring revenue in - we were more focused on building a great website and building traffic.

In fact I'm not sure we were really clear about how we'd make money - we just saw an opportunity to build something great, and figured that if lots of people used it, we'd find a way to make money. And that's more or less how it worked out.

I kept notes of my daily work activities that I've just unearthed to answer this - online business was certainly very different in 1999.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

I made my first $100 dollars in the first six months I started off. When I first started off I saw a sales copy and I was like yea this is easy so I made a product. Then I got mad when no one came and it ended up failing. Now looking back on it I am glad no one ever saw that product. I would have died of embarrassment. I was on alibaba one day and saw some of the pages. You know the ones the ones that you can clearly tell the vendors English skills are weak. I though to myself if I had a translation service I could make a ton of money off of these guys. So I bought a domain name and built a good looking webpage then I just started contacting these vendors. I made more in one hour doing that then I made in six months. I was surprised when they came back and asked me to do more pages. I learned something very important if you see a marketplace that needs something in this case a translation service you just provide a good service for them then tell them about it. I do not miss doing that though it was a lot of hard work but it made a lot of money for me.

Sold a bunch of British toys on ebay when I first moved to NYC in 2000. They would be going for $30 that night and wake up the next day to see bids over $200. I think a lot of people on here probably made their first money selling household items online.

I then created a 2 x dvd info product which I sold via myspace, (before the days of facebook) I used a simple myspace adder to add new friends every day and then post the link with a comment on their pages - made my first $100 within a week, I realized that the info product was very niche orientated so there would definitely be a ceiling in earnings, so after that I got into drop shipping and e-commerce stores, made $0 my first year $17,000 the 2nd year and $25,000 the third year before I sold it on Flippa

At that one the product was not something you could buy from Walmart or Target, however Amazon started selling them, cheaper than i could get from my supplier so it was time to get out

Now I do affiliate marketing selling information combined with my own info products.

Upwork. Took about 2 weeks of bidding.

It's TOUGH when you're just starting out and have no reviews or portfolio. But the Law of Averages is written in stone...if you just keep bidding, eventually you will land something, or you will land one of the invitations you'll recieve.

My first review came from simply installing an app to test it out. I was paid $1, and much more valuable- I recieved a 5 star review.

After that, I was able to land a job writing silly clickbait articles for $15 each and made my first 100 bucks doing that.

If you're just starting out, I know it can be kind of demoralizing, but keep at it and you will inevitably land something.

It took me 2 days. It happened just a couple days ago actually just selling used phones on eBay. I ended up making $280 profit. They sell incredibly fast, like minutes after listing. It sucks that I wont be able to make big money until my limits increase though. 5 items/ $500 per month. :/

It took me three days to make $250.00, and this was all done from networking with people I already know. I made my initial investment back which was $200.00, I have never done network marketing before. I am excited to see where this will take me. Once I signed up 4 more prospects I will have unlocked 9 streams of income, including residuals.
