Any one have ideas to generate more twitter followers?

Everyone knows the basic strategies to increase Twitter followers including increasing followers, using relevant hashtags and keywords...so 2014.

Recently I have identified some really unique ways which have helped me to increase followers nearly 3X. These include

- I have been including some contact information in my tweets, hopefully building some credibility with followers that I am a real person.

- I also have been adding a photo with tweets. I read in a recent Forbes article suggesting tweets with images receive 18% more engagement. Headshots are good, but not required other cool photos work too.

- I try to include positive or inspirational messages or quotes. It seems to help with others retweeting my original message.

- If my response would be useful to all, I will make it a public response.

- I try to build additional credibility by name dropping other influential users. Not only does is help with my followers, but it may also catch the attention of the influencer.

Has anyone else found other ways (gotta be unique) to help boost their posts and followers? Better yet are there any organic ways to gain local followers?

  • It's great that you focus on building your credibility. I am not sure if you already tried this, very basic, though, build your bio. Make your bio professional and it would build trust to your followers. Plus having a complete bio makes user add you or follow you when they have something to read on Twitter's Suggested Users page.

  • If you have other social media accounts, make sure that you always include your Twitter profile or link to it. Link it everywhere including your email signatures, websites, blogs, LinkedIn profile, Facebook, and more. It is also great if you can have your followers retweet your posts and links that I think generates click backs.

Not sure if it is a good idea, but setting up online contests online usually attracts a lot of readers. Getting freebies has always been a great marketing strategy for me. I am not sure if it is effective on Twitter but if ever you attempt to do so, make sure that you do as you promised and really give out some prices, if ever.

You are already on your way, why not add some videos as well since you already managed to add photos and inspirational messages. Make sure that you actively engage to your feeds - reply to them, add more users that do not have an egg as a default profile photo (newbies or spam accounts), follow the influencers, unfollow the non-followers, and definitely create contents that has substance for you to be followed back.
