There is plenty of free content out there about it.

To my understanding it is more based around the rapid growth of a new product of company getting a large user base rather than traditional marketing where its more geared towards letting people who already know about you know about your new product.

Growth hacking is a process of rapid experimentation across marketing channels and product development to identify the most effective, efficient ways to grow a business. Growth hacking refers to a set of both conventional and unconventional marketing experiments that lead to growth of a business. Growth hackers are marketers, engineers and product managers that specifically focus on building and engaging the user base of a business. Growth hackers often focus on low-cost alternatives to traditional marketing, e.g. using social media, viral marketing or targeted advertising instead of buying advertising through more traditional media such as radio, newspaper, and television.

Growth hacking is particularly prevalent with startups, when the goal is rapid growth at an early-stage launch phase. Growth hacking may focus on lowering cost per customer acquisition, but growth hacking is a focus on long-term sustainability as Mason Pelt points out in a 2015 article on SiliconANGLE.com "The goal of any marketing should be long-term sustainable growth, not just a short-term gain. Growth hacking is about optimization as well as lead generation. Imagine your business is a bucket and your leads are water. You don't want to pour water into a leaky bucket; it's a waste of money. That's why a true growth hacker would care about customer retention.

Growth hacking is a word that is used mostly by marketers these days. Most companies and marketers think growth hacking is limited to search engine optimization, social media marketing strategy, email marketing, etc but they fail to understand how to best use these channels in a cost effective way to boost growth.

Growth hacking is using a set of marketing channels to drive significant traction. Some major aspects of growth hacking involve -

    1. Understanding growth hacking funnel which consists of Acquisition , Activation , Retention ,Revenue and Referral.

    2. Targeting social media platforms where your audience is most active.

    3. Defining processes of your marketing channels.

    4.Constantly optimizing your marketing strategies.

    5. Measuring progress through online analytics tools.

Growth hacking is a bit of a bullshit term thats become trendy.

In simple terms its rapid/cheap/innovative ways of getting more users for a service or product.

I wouldn't pay to learn it. Just google it and start there.

“Growth hacker” is a new word for most but a long held practice among the best internet marketers and product managers in Silicon Valley.Growth hacking appeared as the modern way in the age of Web 2.0 to reach a market and distribute an idea. Instead of classic marketing which typically interrupts your day, a growth hacker uses “pull”; he or she understands user behavior provides value immediately to persuade.

A growth hacker is a hacker whose objective is to grow the number of users for a specific product. While lots of people consider user growth to be a marketing function, this assumes that there's only one way to get users.
