Hi All,

I own a wordpress site that aggregates 5 interesting posts per day. I have not done any marketing whatsoever but get almost 200 visits per month. My questions are:

1. How to increase traffic to the site.

2. How to monetize from above traffic.

I am very low on cash, but have a lot of free time. I am willing to put 40+ hours a week on this.

Also, this is a niche I quite enjoy therefore would like to monetize on it and provide a quality user experience.

To increase your web traffic, you can use the free marketing channel such as Social Media Channel: Facebook, Youtube, ...
Post your post into the famous forum, this is to make the other know about you and your site.
This is just the first step of increasing your web traffic. For the long term, you should learn about the SEO and other digital marketing channels such as email, push notification...

I agree that social media is huge to increase traffic so I would use that to direct people to your website.

The answer for question 2 would be to ensure you have a way to capture emails on your website so that they can sign up for more. From there you will be able to monetize by doing affiliate marketing.

    All the best,

If you are just starting out your website, you need the help of professional writers, editors and content marketers.

In order to minimize the cost that you need to cover for your website, I suggest that you try hiring Filipino writers, editors or marketers here

I've posted a job there just two days ago (by the way I'm a content manager) and I've hired 5 great Filipino writers for my client's website.

Do you collect email addresses and then drive traffic back to your site when you post new content? Repeat visitors turn into buyers with repeated exposure to your website. When you email previous visitors, they tend to return, whereas if you don't, they probably won't come back.

Here are some ideas for getting you website out there. You can place an ad in Craigslist. You can write an article about your site with a link and put it on an ezine. You can write a press release and submit it through one of the press release sites.

Remember to include you website in all of them and of course include a way to capture emails.

OK, Everyone that is relatively new here wants the fast and dirty tricks to overnight success.

    It ain't gonna happen.

It takes work to get traffic to your site and if you find you are getting loads of traffic quickly, you're probably getting a lot of people that are bouncing in and out, because the traffic isn't specific or targeted.

If you want your blog to really gain traffic that will convert, you must follow a proven formula.

First and foremost, you must have a targeted niche that you are trying to reach. There must be enough interest in your subject that will allow your business to stay alive long term. This means you have to do research on the front end of your business before you even get started,

I would suggest that you get a copy of Guerrilla Marketing in 30 Days and its accompanying workbook. It will take way longer than 30 days to go through all of the steps, but once you get through all of it, you'll have an excellent blueprint for your business.

Next, you need to lay down no less than 500 words a day. That's right, you need to get up early every morning and write.

Writing like this is not easy. You need to research your subject on the front end and gather up a list of resources that you can use as proven data. If you want to know how to really nail a good blog post, read some of Neil Patel's advice. It is some of the best on the planet.

He suggest writing 3000+ word posts. I think that's too much for the average Joe, but if you have a lot of time to put into this, go for it.

You will need to know how to optimize pictures for your blog and how to configure alt tags for SEO.

Speaking of SEO, You'll need to find a plugin for your blog that will help you with optimization. There's quite a few of them on WordPress but you need to find one that works well for you and that you are comfortable using.

Finally, you will need to promote your blog every way you can. I use all sorts of methods like social media but you must develop a strategy that will be the most effective. I personally like to find people that are up and coming stars. These are what are known as "influencers" and commenting on their blogs and social media sites can help you gain traffic considerably.

Anyway, as copywriter Robert Ringer likes to say, "Slow and Steady Wins the Race". You have to put your back into it and post fresh content as frequently as you can.

I hope this helps you in your quest to get traffic that converts.

    God Bless!

    Elmo
