What do you think of using AI to automate twitter marketing?

Hey guys,

I would like to know what the growth hackers here think of the idea of using artificial intelligence to automate your business' social media marketing. More specifically, Twitter marketing. To hunt down and engage with people from your target audience.. get them to interact with you, and visit your website.

The reason I would like to know, is because we are currently working on our startup to automate the twitter marketing for small businesses through AI. If you want to help beta test, take a look at this topic: Automate your Twitter Marketing.

We've had some amazing results with this so far, but what do you think? Would use this? Would this be beneficial to your business?

I'm curious what exactly are Twitter's automation rules?

    Regarding your idea:
    1. I haven't been a fan of most Social media automation. For starters, I hate how my inbox is flooded with spam messages, making it practically useless for me.
    2. Most auto-reply messages I see are canned. If you can somehow encourage people who are using TweetFavy to seem genuine, then it might be of use.
    3. I'd be interested to know what data you have to show that this will help drive more engagement/sales for the business.

    On a more positive note:
    1. One automation tactic I'd be interested (if allowed by Twitter) is auto-sending simple replies that include no mention of the program I'm using with a simple: "Hey, thanks for following me. Tell me a little about yourself?" type of tweet.
    2. Another tactic I saw someone else use was to target those in my city (Spokane) and ask how was business on the other side of the mountains (he was in Seattle). Seems genuine, but could be a quick way to connect to be within your industry.

Personally I think AI is a good idea - if you get the AI down correct - helpful bots have been about for some time and turning twitter into just that could work.

    OR

You could use an assistant, train them on how to use your twitter and get them to do the posting and replying for you - if they get stuck then they can message you.

Just my 2 cents from an English fella

A lot of great pointers here to get you started Egyptik. I would like to add some more...

Experience wise, these tools are designed solely for the purpose of making your life easier. They are not, and should not be, your metrics to measure your variables. It boils down to how you use these tools and make it work to your advantage. Of course, devicing a twitter marketing strategy should be on top of your list before you cling on to the so-called "secret weapons".

What value your brand is promoting?
What is your ultimate marketing goal?
Do you think your target market will react to you positively? Will they even react at all?
How do you know you've won? What are your metrics to measure?

I think these are the questions you should be asking rather than focusing on the tools to use!

I wish you all the best and good luck with this!

    Cheers,

    Anthony

      Anythony,

Thanks for your reply, but this is completely unrelated to the topic. I'm not asking for tips to get started with Twitter.. The example questions you posted (although they are valuable) are not at all the questions I should be asking here. Instead, the question I should be asking is the exact question I posted here: 'What do you think of the idea of using artificial intelligence to hunt down and engage with people from your target audience on Twitter?'

        egyptik,

I think you totally missed the mark on the advice given here.

YES the questions asked by Anthony are the questions you should be asking, and maybe to some point ANSWERING

YOU are NOT asking advice.. you are PRESELLING. lets not kid anyone here. you are NOT saying hey... I've been thinking about doing this AI thing that would like go out to twitter and hunt down and engage with people from your target audience what do you think?

        YOU HAVE IT... you are final tweeking it.. you are PRESELLING. so the questions at this point is no longer "what do you think of the idea" it should be;

"What would you think of a product that could increase your Brand Value across Twitter?"

That 1 simple line takes you from a $29 product to a $79 product! Why? because it no longer is a teenage toy to get more followers, but a Business Tool that will provide targeted results and increase revenue.

We all know that is his hidden agenda, and I totally agree with you.

But for the sake of those who are viewing this thread, I decided to say the things I said.

Thank you for backing me up!

        Yes, I understand.

My point is that it doesn't matter which software/service you use as long as your strategy benefits from using it.

I've been testing this over the course of a year on both Facebook and Twitter. My results were great with twitter, and terrible with Facebook, posting the same content to both.

Twitter following has grown to over 14,000 (from 9,000 when I started) and engagement is decent. Facebook following is stagnant at the $4k mark.

The reason for this is fairly obvious ... twitter is like a radio. You broadcast something and the people who happen to be "tuned in" at that time will see it. If you're tweeting about popular topics, and use hash tags properly, people will see those and start following you. Facebook is more about engagement - hash tags haven't really taken off there, so you're just broadcasting your message to the same audience over and over - and if you do it too much, without them taking action, eventually your messages are suppressed.

I say go for it with twitter, just don't link your twitter and Facebook accounts because the constant communication strategy that WORKS on twitter works AGAINST YOU on Facebook.

      Ron,

Absolutely agree 2 totally different animals.

As a side note, I for a while was using the feedbuner to twitter to facebook sharing tweek for my blog content. As you commented sharing the twitter commenting across to facebook becomes detrimental. but in the every wanting desire to make less work... I found IFTTT ( ifttt.com ) that always me to share content from my blog to twitter and facebook separately.

I would only use software that would let me schedule muy posts so that I can have, say 30 tweets prepared for the whole month and tweet only once a day. But I like to know what is being tweeted

      Hi egyptik,

While the idea is intriguing, it will likely have a limited shelf life. Taking real people out of the loop has a cost at the macro level that will always limit the potential success of this and similar ideas.

Have you ever wondered just how many of your followers are real? At what point does it become mostly your bot talking to other people's bots? Will we see a day when bots design, build, deploy, and employ their own bots to manage their tweets so the original bot no longer needs to be involved in the tweeting activity?

As bot activity on Twitter grows the value of the platform shrinks at the same rate. Eventually there will be ways to detect and eliminate accounts used by bots, at least until bots are empowered to use your credit card to make purchases on your (or their own) behalf.

If we ever see the day that banks start issuing credit cards to bots, then that will be a paradigm shift, making humans obsolete from the perspective of the bot.

I signed up in impulse a few days ago and it is really clean and simple. I am promoting a gambling site with it and all the followers I get are real. Some might have an automated script that follows when favourited but I don't mind that as it is still some kind of exposure.

It all comes down to how well you target as bots usually use the same very popular tags while normal people and potential customers tend to write different things.

It is too early for me to say how successfull this is going to be for my operation but I would like if this thread stopped being about theory and what will automated scripts and bots be like by 2035. and that we focus on how to search for better targets to optimize conversion.

It is unknown for me what the conversion should be as some of my targets are at something like, 2.38%. Which is not that bad if you compare it to conversions on webpage.

Anyway you have my vote for this and hopefully you will continue to develop it.

      Hi Vedran,

The average conversion rate is between 1,9% and 6.8%, but I've seen people do as high as 15%.

Thanks! What would be the best tool to compliment tweetfavy for target reserach?

  • Here's the thing

Automation would be great, and make it simply to target a bigger market, but by building the relationship organically, surely it would convert much higher?

Now the ideal goal is SKYNET level ai to do the job for you then it would be much easier

    Interesting idea tho either way

I don't use AI but twitter has become a critical part of my marketing. If you want something to get indexed quickly send a tweet and Google will find it quickly provided you have enough followers. It's a good way to find active people in any niche and build an audience for your marketing. If you understand influence and the power of persuasion it can be pretty powerful. I'd suggest building supporting accounts as well because much of it works off of social influence and what your peers approve. Pay attention to the search to see whats trending and dig in!
