Hi,

With all of these articles, applications etc. we all have stored on our computers, which online backup system do you recommend?

I need something that also will backup the applications I have stored JUST IN CASE. How do you handle this?

THANKS AGAIN!!!!

I did a little research and found a great site where they go over the top 25 online backup services just in case anyone was interested. Top 25 Online Backup Leaders in Computer & Data Storage Industry. They are not promoting any specific service and you can check it out whether you are a one man show OR have a company.

Just thought I would share. I am going to check some of these out. With viruses etc. going around, good to be on the safe side if my HD decides to act funky. I heard good things about Mozy and Carbonite but I will check out some of the others.

What I will suggest is that as well as using an online backup service you invest in (like I have) a portable harddrive.

I have a harddrive on my computer of course but feel safer that I have another offline backup method.

I also use dropbox but I don't think it can store applications. But what's good with it is that you can restore previous versions of a deleted file.

I did a lot of research for the most reliable and easy software luckily I came into Timeline Cloud. After I had a lot of disappointments with online solutions like in Carbonite their software was very complicated and it took me forever just to backup few GB's, now with Timeline Cloud things are much easier the set up took just 5 minutes. They backup to Amazon S3 which safer plus they have Cloud Disaster Recovery. Also I am using iPhone to access my data anytime anywhere which been really handy for me. Definitely recommend checking it out. You can check them here: timelinecloud.com

I use carbonite now. It is so easy - it automatically backs up everything and it shows me icons so i know if something is backed up or not. I can access the files from anywhere. Love it - the most i love about it is that i don't have to do a darn thing like I used to with my manual external drive.

I'm a big fan of online backup services such as Mozy, and I recommend Handy Backup (handybackup.net). It provides both backup software and online backup services. It's the best backup solution I ever used.

If you use Apple laptop then all you need is a Time Capsule (to do the wireless backup) and a big hard drive. The Time Machines kicks in automatically and you simply set it and forget it. With the new Mac App Store restoring all your apps is as easy as ABC...I dont have to worry about backups again..

Backing up to the internet is too slow for me

Dropbox - share your link on Facebook and get tons of extra free storage. Well worth paying for the pro version too. Great for collaborating, easy mobile access and very tight security. You can even set up your smartphone to automatically upload any photos you take to a specific folder - very handy. That plus undelete and edit reviews makes it a no brainer. Since I started using dropbox 3 of my drives have gone down and I've lost two phones but thankfully all of my data is secure.

Re storing applications, I simply setup a folder for software purchases and upload the executable files along with a note of the license info and receipt etc. The software remains backed up but not the settings or files you've created - unless you can save them directly to dropbox.
