What Video Animation Software Can Mix Real Video?

Hi!

I'm looking for a software, aside from Powerpoint, where I can combine video animation and real video clips. The closest that I could get is Powtoon but the problem is I can only insert the video clip during the presentation mode. If it's in the video mode, the video clip doesn't work.

Another software is Prezi but then again the problem is it's limited to settings of 4 sec. (or 20 sec) for the video presentation. I'm also into Videoscribe but I can't import a video clip in it. I don't like Easy Sketch Pro 2.0 either.

I've also bumped into Moovly but I haven't tried it yet. According to its FAQs, it can.

Anything else out there?

I'm looking for the same thing too. Apparently Explaindio can add video as well as EasySketchPro 2.

There are quite a few now (Sparkol, EasySketchPro 2, Powtoon, Explaindio, VideoMaker FX). I'd like to see a comparison of all of them in one place. I tried VideoMaker FX last year and couldn't get it to work on my Mac. What was it about EasySketchPro 2 that you didn't like?

I find it not very user-friendly unlike Videoscribe and Powtoon. That's why I'm not using it more often.

      Do you find it easy?

I bought Videomaker FX last year but it was a train wreck on a Mac then so I put off buying any other whiteboard program. I'm just now starting to look at them again so I haven't bought anything yet. It seems to me that EasySketch Pro 2 will do what I want and is by far the cheapest. It would be nice if the developers of these programs didn't include such cheesy looking graphics!

I'm surprised to hear that. I have used it extensively on my Macs, without incident since it's original launch. FYI - a new release is available for download.

I use ESP 2.0, also. It's far from perfect and most of the bugs from V1 have not been fixed in V2.

They're both fun and I get a lot of use out of them. Throw Camtasia into the mix and there's not much you can't do with that trio of apps.

          Cheers. - Frank

            Thanks Big Frank and Magentawave.

Would you know what software was used in the video of this site (sorry I don't have the video link alone).

Could be any number of programs, or most likely a combination, including Flash, AfterEffects and even Powerpoint could do much of the video.

It definitely doesn't look like any "template" styled program. I'm guessing After Effects and possibly Adobe Flash for the animations. It could have been perhaps made in Powerpoint, but some of the transitions and effects would be much easier to achieve in After Effects.

Since it's all pretty much custom, it can be hard to make these videos unless you have a sound knowledge of After Effects and access to pre-created animations for the characters and objects.

That video is more than likely created with After Effects. Maybe Apple Motion.

All the other options like to make you THINK you can create videos like that with their software...but you can't. GoAnimate and Powtoon are solid options for explainer videos though. GoAnimate's licenses are funky if you're making videos for clients you will need to purchase a $79 transfer license - so you have to figure that into what you charge your clients.

Personally, I'm not much of a fan of any of the video creation softwares that have popped up in the 'IM' marketplace. Most just don't look very professional to me. And I've seen people with an 'eye' for design create better videos in Powerpoint or Keynote.

Software is sold as the 'answer', but the truth is you need to have an understanding of both the software and concepts of video to create a video that looks professional.

Suggest you check-out the latest version of Explaindio 2.0 which was released on Wednesday, I believe. Not sure if it has been released to the general public, yet, or only current users. It is extremely feature rich and allows combining various, generally stand-alone techniques into one video. Quite impressive.

Yes. It is new and powerful, but not very intuitive so I had to pay $17 to buy a series of tutorial videos to figure out how to use it.

Camtasia gets my vote. I just purchased it two weeks ago and have been tinkering around with it, but wow, what a great little program. It's going to take quite awhile to REALLY find out what this program is capable of.

Just a note to tell you I use Explaindio and have had some good success with it so far. There are some things that I would like to see different but overall it works good for what I am doing.

I'm a little confused by what you mean by "video animation"?

IMO, Powerpoint is usually the best at combining different elements. Explaindio also has some animation features and will import video. One difference between the two is PPT works great with animated GIFs and has a number of internal features, while Explaindio works with animated SWFs.

Another option may be to create animations with a green background then use a video editor that allows for green screen.

I'm inclined to say the video you shared is a combination of Flash and PowerPoint, although you can never really tell with these videos..

Did you check with the Camtasia? today most of the people are using the Camtasia. I think it may support your videos. Thanks.

Camtasia, in my book is the Gold Standard. I use it on my Mac and I'm recording a webinar that I don't want to pay attention to, right now, for review later. I also have VideoMaker FX and use it for quick projects. These are arrows for your quiver. They have yet to create the application that does everything I need, the way I need it.
I just find Expandio a bit buggy and won't play any files unless you upgrade to it's converter. Also it's a bug bear of mine when you are always half an inch from an upsell link after purchasing the product.
The upsells on that launch were unconscionable. I believe there were 9 upgrade offers.

      Cheers. - Frank

You must not be familiar with ScreenFlow...if you're on a Mac, I'd recommend it over Camtasia. But there aren't any huge differences...I just feel ScreenFlow is slightly better.

Thanks - but I'm old. Not looking to learn a new program after investing so much time in Camtasia. I haven't found anything that I require that it won't do, so I believe it will last me until I keel over. :-) Shouldn't be long, now.

UPDATE: Just discovered that I had purchased a copy of ScreenFlow in a MacHeist bundle in April of 2014. Version 4.5, but I can upgrade to 5.? for $34.

It runs without the update, so I will take it for a spin. If you could point out any advantages over Camtasia for Mac, that would be most helpful. :-)

I would suggest (for windows) Sparkol Videoscribe for animation and then Camtasia to edit in the video. If you're on a budget, look for Camtasia V7, which in some ways is better than V8 for product creators.
