Explaindio 2.0 Update and Upgrade Details for 1.0 Buyers.

Hey there, gang. Thought I would post here a public conversation I found about what Explaindio 1.0 buyers can expect with regard to the Explaindio 2.0 launch, which will be on July 1st, 2015.

This is Andrew Darius' details about whether or not Explaindio 1.0 buyers will need to buy 2.0 or get it free.

Question: "Will the current Explaindio continue to be supported so those of us who paid for it will be able to get the value we already paid for?"

Andrew's answer: "With purchase comes 1 year of free updates (not upgrades) which mean you would normally get updates to 1.0 standard (current version) except because we care about our creators we prepared special free upgrade to 2.0 Standard as the gesture of the good will."

Andrew (continuing): "Current Explaindio 1.0 Standard users will get grandfathered to Standard 2.0.

We will be having a new product Explaindio "Pro" version with advanced functionality.

All grandfathered Standard 2.0 users will be able to upgrade to Pro (optional) for half off or a 50% discount over retail during 2.0 launch early bird period.

Since Explaindio switches to yearly subscription after we re-open, current Explaindio 1.0 Standard users can save 50% every year on Pro upgrade during 3 early bird hours before actually launch. After that 3 early bird hours the discount for upgrade to Pro 2.0 will be about 30% discount until the end of launch period.

Standard 2.0 will be yearly for NEW customers after it launches.
Grandfathered users will pay nothing to enjoy the Standard version.

For those who have explaindio before we close will also be FREE upgrades to Standard 2.0 for promised 1 year period from purchase date so no yearly for free upgrades period. (you can use forever without yearly too just free upgrades ends in year from purchase as was on sales letter)

We will not be disclosing all features (just some) info about version Pro before 2.0 launch. I can just say that 1 of new features in Pro is REVOLUTIONARY and not done by any other video creator - when you see it you will want really to have it."

Question: "if a current grandfathered 2.0 member gets the Pro version (during the early bird/launch), will the yearly subscription apply or is it the one-time payment for life like we currently have with Explaindio 1.0?"

Andrew's answer: "2.0 Pro is yearly membership. 50% during 3 hours early bird will apply to every year so every year you stay member you save more. Standard 2.0 has 47 bugs fixed and just a few new features like new login system, bold writing of text on sketch, custom transition. Please note that we only promised free updates to version 1.x standard (not upgrades), so free upgrade to 2.0 Standard is gesture of good will to show how much we care about our creators. But Standard does not have main new features like 'sketch to animation', fully animated moving motion objects, 'sketch to video', and green screen support, and ton of smaller. So you really would want to get that upgrade to Pro."

That's it, guys. Just thought you'd like to know.

2.0 Pro is yearly membership. 50% during 3 hours early bird will apply to every year so every year you stay member you save more.
    Joan,

I purchased the beta last night for $23.50 for the first year and from your post it appeared to me as if it would be $23.50 for following year(s) but the recurring bill set up at $47 annually.

This seemed to be confirmed by Andrew here:

    2015-06-05_1338 - ForumGuru's library

Which seems to contradict what he said here when he told Robert the beta upgrades automatically, and it seems to contradict the quotes that you posted.

Can you link (or PM me) where you read the info you posted?

Please let me know what you have on this...

    Thanks,

I also purchased explaindio 2.X beta yesterday for $23.50 and the recurring billing is $47 per year. I was also of the opinion that it would be £23.50 per year. I asked this question in the explaindio facebook group
but it seems to have disappeared, seems something has been lost in translation.

Hey, Don - just logged back in here...

I found it on the Explaindio Google+ community site in the "Discussion" section.

      https://plus.google.com/communities/...a-1f10519dd0a1

When you arrive on the page, you'll need to scroll down a bit and look for the post titled "Explaindio 2.0 teaser 3 – green screen | Videofects". It's on the right side about midway down, currently.

And then click the comment arrow to reveal all of the comments for the post. That's where the conversation took place.

I also purchased the Beta with the $47 annual fee after the first year.

Has anyone got any clarification, as it looks like we are paying 50% more for the privilege of helping Andrew fix all the bugs in his software - which can't be right?

Thanks for that Don! But what the heck! Is this going to be over $1000 if you take it all? Some of the $$$ will also carry over to a yearly payment.

Got to say,,, I'm confused with this funnel. I just want to update the new one but not sure how all this is going to work out. I was going to get in on the beta but it was quick and confusing!

I think that the other video software creators will get their own thing (Upgrades) to complete with this, will see soon!

Wow, it ends up being over $1200 for the 1st year. Now, that's how you squeeze every last dime out of people. Then after a year come out with the "3.0" "monthly" subscription, or play the other game of changing the name of the product and pretend it's not an update.

Yes, but that's if you purchase all of the upgrades. You don't need any of them really, just the Pro version of the software.

I think Video Maker FX is going to be coming out with a new version sometime this year. That's what the creator of it said.

It's official ---> Andrew is not honoring the 50% off yearly even though he had posted that info to the G+ group a couple weeks ago.

Standard 2.0 is Free, Pro 2.0 discount (only for 1.x owners) is 50% for 1st year (and then $47) for first 3 hours, then for reminder of launch is 30% like it is posted in pinned post. Discount is not for every year like we were considering initially (simply would not cover cost of continuous development) - it was posted on beta checkout. After launch is $57 / year

I bought the Explaindio 2.0 Upgrade But I got to say that - this has to be the most time consuming overly done up-sales funnel Ever!

Too many buy-this-buy-that, wait-how-about this or that?!!

I should be paid for going through the sales process!

IMO- The sales funnel thing is now being done badly by Internet marketers and warrior members alike! What the heck.

What I like is---Give me the price and the features and I will decide if I want to buy it!

P.S. What if you bought a car paid for it and before they give it to you They make you spend a day at sales pitch fest LOL

    Hello,
so if i upgrade to 2 Pro and at end of year 1 i can cancel recurring $47 and not recieve any more updates (wouldnt bother me) the software would still login and work ?

This is not really a comment specifically about Explaindio...

Maybe it's me, but every software product that comes out now seems to be a saas or web based apps.

Some developers charge a one-off change price, others are a monthly pay-to-use.

It can seem your whole business relies on paying some person monthly for some product or service just to keep your business moving along.

I can't really remember the last software product that I downloaded and actually 'owned' (and not rented)

I think it could be you. I own more than a hundred perpetually licensed software products that are mine (not SAAS, and no ongoing fees)...most of those are video, image, and audio products. I think I probably have 3 dozen or more movie, animation, and slideshow tools that I have paid for that run on my local machine, most of them I have purchased in the last couple of years.

IMO to make v1.0 people pay for v2.0 Pro just 8 months after the initial 1.0 launch is greedy, and the funnel is beyond "too-much".

For those that may not know, Explaindio is a desktop software. If you ask me, *most* desktop software that does not require a bunch of continuing (and necessary) 3rd party api support updates that require an ongoing subscription fee is going beyond "too much".

And yeah, I still use a "no fee" desktop version of Photoshop that I paid for long ago, but I have subscribed to an Adobe CC license when needed, as I feel you get a very wide range of very powerful tools (thousands and thousands of dollars worth), that are updated and upgraded quite frequently for a fair enough price. Yeah, it can be a bit expensive, but in my opinion the value is there with Adobe for those that need it. And yes, the Adobe Creative Cloud software is desktop software, only the licenses are handled in the cloud.

          Cheers

          -don

P.S. Anyone that read this thread between June 9th and July 1st was forewarned on the crazy deep Explaindio funnel as I posted that info here weeks ago...

Lol. That's so funny...I'm still using Photoshop 7 for all of my IM related graphics editing that I paid for with an educational discount when I was 18 years old.

Thing is it runs super fast now with modern computers - was a bit sluggish back then when all I could afford was half a gig of ram upgrade on a Pentium 4.

I thought I might be the only one still using an old version of Photoshop, but it does everything I need.

If you already own v1, upgrade to v2 Pro, and then cancel the recurring annual payment the software will downgrade to v2 Standard (basically v1 with the bugs fixed) at the end of your paid period.

For those of you that did not purchase v1 and only purchased v2 Pro, what you actually did is purchase a 1 year membership, and the software will stop working at the end of the year if you cancel the recurring payment.

In-other-words...for new buyers the front-end cost is actually a 1 year license to use the software...at the end of that period you have nothing if you cancel other than the works you have already rendered.

If you don't have v1, and you purchase v2 Pro you ARE renting the Explaindio desktop software on a year-to-year basis.

Original lifetime v1 buyers will be upgraded to v2 Standard at no cost.

WHERE did you see that? Any proof Don? I think i will ask for a refund if true. I assumed that after 12 months i will cancel anyway and at least have V2 Pro with any bug fixes found during that year because that's what the sales letter said and what i paid for. I've emailed support and will post here what i find but if true..its pretty immoral (as the invoice SAYS upgrade from V1 to V2 PRO, (no where can i find i'll be downgraded to V2 standard if cancel subscriptions...you might be wrong on that one but ill see after email)

          Don is 100% correct.

Andrew (eventually) confirmed this on the Explaindio Users Facebook group. He also stated that Explaindio 3.0 was pencilled in for release in about 8 months time (which may or may not end up being a monthly subscription model)

          Sure I have proof...

--> Here is Andrew Darius himself (Explaindio Video Creator FB Group):

LICENSE CLARIFICATION: There is many question how license works so I will post here to make it clear:
1)For 1.x owner - if your 2.x license expire after a year (if you do not want to renew) you will still be able to use the software for lifetime but it will be degrade to 2.x standard
          2) For no 1.x owners is works similar to photoshop / video scribe etc which mean that license work for whole paid period even is you cancel recurring the same day after purchase

          2015-07-03_2312 - ForumGuru's library
--> Here is a reply from Explaindio support agent J. Bhatti:

          Hi Don,

Thank you for contacting Explaindio Customer Support.

For users who bought E1.x and E2.X PRO
Please note that if your 2.x PRO license expires after a year (if you do not want to renew) you will still be able to use the software for lifetime but it will be degrade to 2.x standard.

Please feel free to contact us so that we can better assist you.
          Thank you,
          J Bhatti.
          Explaindio Customer Support.
Of course lots of people are upset and/or feeling deceived...an example of that below.

--> Lorraine G. (Explainder Video Creator Tutorials & Resources FB Group):

I clearly remember being told ages ago that if we did not continue to pay the yearly fee then we would still be able to use the prov2 but with no more updates, so now we are getting told we will be downgraded to what is really a version 1 with bugs fixed! I do wish that people would stick to what they say and it not being constantly changed as we go along. If version 1 had its bugs fixed months ago I would have been happy to keep using it, I only stopped due to the bugs. Version 2 seems buggy to me also, and lost some of the features that I loved in version 1. So fed up of IM being more interested in just money grabbing instead of investing in creating and supporting what should have been a great product and taking care of customers in order to have customers invest money in the product. Kinda feeling insulted, like we are at the whim of someone who changes his mind at the drop of a hat and goes back on his word. Ok rant over going to try once more to get version 2 to just play a dam video with a template which it did perfectly in version 1, in version 2 I get 2 seconds of video, either version 2 is buggy or the templates from version 1 dont play well in version 2.
--> A reply on that post by Chris C:

Another thing they just decided to mention is that for people who did not own v1 and are buying v2 for the first time, if they do not continue paying yearly, it will cease to function completely after the first year. This is even though they did not mention at all on the sales page that there was even a yearly fee at all and nowhere did they tell anyone before purchase that the product would not function anymore if they did not continue to pay.

If not told otherwise, as is the case here, people always assume that a product that is installed on your own computer and not browser-based will continue to function but will not receive upgrades/updates anymore. I'm glad I decided not to promote this despite how much money I could have made
          .
That's the way the Explaindio cookie is crumbling (or baking, depending on how you look at it).

          Cheers

I am an Explaindio 1 owner and will not be buying the new version as I like clarity when I purchase.

This is a completely and utterly ridiculous way of conducting business. It seems the IM game is the only one that continually puts up with this practise and as fellow marketers we should all be looking to bring some sense back into what we do.

By all means have a sensible pertinent sales funnel, but not something that numbs the senses like this.

I decided not to upgrade as well, AND I killed our promotion of 2.0 completely before a full day expired into the launch.

IMO - the whole sales process sucked and Yes, it is all about the money! Nothing wrong with making as much money as you can but be truthful and honest!

"Reading that Explaindio 3.0 is penciled in for about 8 months from now"

Could be an update from Pro to Agency or whatever just to make more or to try to keep your subscription going.

I agree with you Joan! I wish others would do a little thinking before promoting!

I also believe that all the affiliates marketers and Gurus selling this should have done some explaining before they start blasting affiliate emails to make a buck! But this is the same old thing!

My strange suspicious mind tells me that some of these video maker products over the last year are connect in some way!

I upgraded to Explaindio 2.0 Update like I said And I'm still not sure what to make of all this and I really don't know if I should just can this!

I do not appreciate FALSE countdown timer on sales page.

Timer IMPLIES the price will increase when timer runs out.

    BOGUS!
    NONSENSE!

Sales page showed timer of 3 days (still does show counting down from THREE DAYS from time of sales page FIRST appearing (as of this moment 2+ days remaining).

But... price HAS GONE UP *before* timer ran out.
So timer was (and IS) BOGUS.

    -- TW

Note: I am an Explaindio #1 owner, so it's the upgrade I'm talking about.
Also, RIGHT ABOVE THE TIMER, it says...
    "Launch Special Limited Time Discount"
Again, implying that the price will go up WHEN THE TIMER RUNS OUT
(and not before). Because of this FALSE + MISLEADING timer, I ended up paying $32+, instead of $23.50.
