Good Sales Letter Template or Software?

So you put software products out there and see what happens?

There is a better way to plan your revenue.

$500 for a sales letter is low budget. The beginner writers I see charge $297 minimum and they don't have much experience at all.

A decent course will often be $500-$2000.

I can suggest only one course I *know* is good at the price point you're looking at: Colin Theriot's in cultofcopy.com. It's $200 including the $50 discount.

I'd check out the copywriting section on this forum. There is a sticky for copywriting books pick one and buy it.

The money you'd spend on a course could be invested heavily at Amazon and give you a strong foundation.

I would recommend that you get this book, "The Ultimate Sales Letter" by Dan Kennedy.
If you are just starting out a template would not have enough meat for you
to go by. Once you read through that book then a template will make more
sense.

Surprisingly, Microsoft offers some pretty nice but standard sales letter templates from inside Word. (Click File > New > Search)

I don't know what kind of software you develop, but there's a line you shouldn't cross when advertising to non-IMers. Normal folks don't like the hype while IMers love it. So with those templates, you'll see some that have toned down the rhetoric to an audience-appropriate level.

You should try Yanik Silver's Instant Sales Letter product. It's really good. If you want to learn, pick up a John Carlton course, or head over to Gary Halbert's site and read and study EVERYTHING on there (especially the "water ad".)

Please don't underestimate just how difficult it is to develop a sales letter that works.

What you can do to get started is write a first version yourself using some of the resources the guys have recommended. (Cashvertising is a sales letter writing book recommended to me by a ClickBank Product Manager).

Then hire one of the top copywriters to do a critique. I did this for $97 with a top copywriter and he gave me a completely different direction and angle for my sales letter.

I rewrote it myself as I have some experience in this and it has now gotten me to a consistent level similar to my previously professionally written sales letter. However if I was just starting out it would be a lot harder.

Secondly, you need to do constant testing. Test everything one bit at a time e.g. the headline and then the offer and pricing, then sub-headings or bonuses. This way you can gradually improve the conversion rate bit by bit as well as it helping you to learn.

And at least you are starting which is great.

I totally disagree, there are good copywriters who will write a great sales page for far less than what has been said in this thread.

I don't charge that much and I'm pretty darn good, and none of the guys on my site do either.

What kind of conversion rates are you getting Jazbo? What rates do you charge?
