Hi everyone
I am a new boy to the forum and joined with interest on any info and news on WCW

Having purchased the V 2-0-4 software in 2007 it sat on my HD without real use until now, although I did tinker with it over the years with occasional visits to the WCW forum.

I really could not get it to work properly but I realize now there is a bit of a learning curve that needs to be mastered as with a lot of software.

I was surprised when Version 3 was announced as it came just at the time when I was about to blow the dust off the WCW software. Not only was V-3-0-2 being sold but a free upgrade to old customers was offered, which I gratefully took, then almost immediately there was an update to V-3-1-0.

There is a new feature in it which David calls Article Brainstorming which I have tried several times, but alas all I get out is nonsense.

I was wondering if anyone has tried this??
Perhaps it needs an enormous thesaurus like Cordless had

Yes "alodie" I also remember Cordless and still have her video I did'nt know that many synonyms existed

However I now have to get to grips with it as I do think this could be a great piece of software, I haven't got a clue what that function "explodepersonalthesuarus' does or how to import more thesaurus and synonyms and where to get them

I think I may need your book "Tommyp"

Anyway just thought I would introduce myself

I tried to buy Website Submission Wizard on November 7th, 2009 but didn't even get a download page!!!! I've emailed him literally 4 or 5 times and he hasn't responded at all. I've had to go to PayPal but am forced to wait 30 days to get my money back.

Did you get Website Submission Wizard to work? If so, how is it?

I use WCW and it is a great software and he should be applauded for that but his customer service is beyond horrible. He NEVER answers any customer service/tech. support emails -- EVER.

Were you able to get a copy of WSW?

WCW is a great piece of software. The latest version is really good. It's very powerful. To learn it, watch the videos and you will pick it up.

My book could help with some of that.

Not if you want deep help using the thesaurus.

I go over how to use it. But I don't recommend it as the main way to spin articles.

If that's what you want it for then save your money unless you just want to know how to use the feature.

Please let me know how you got it to download and if you get it to install, please let me know.

Thanks much,

Going to PayPal is the first option. They told me I had to wait as there is a grace period given to the seller. I had the EXACT problem. The software download page just won't come up at all. His customer service is beyond terrible. It's totally non-existent. Don't ever expect to get an email back with tech. support. He totally and always ignores them. He did mine. I learned the software by playing with it and watching his videos on the new version. That helped a lot.

Hi everyone

First thanks Tommyp for your work on the book it was a great help and I recommend it to any other struggler with WCW

Quote:

However using any of the Blocks system to re-write articles still comes up with nonsense. I tried the most simple sentences and it churned out complete rubbish, words that were not in any of the sentences used, which makes me think you need a pretty big personal thesaurus for it to use, as it looks like it does draw words from it.
Can anyone advise on this?? help please !!

I was not sure about buying WSW after the support problems began which were some time ago now.

And a then couple of weeks ago I lost my password ( OH NO!! ) the support contact page was not available and the site was being worked on according to web hosts Hostmonster.com.
Then lo and behold a new style contact page appeared which made me think things were looking up, but alas NO !! still no contact, accept the automated password recover which came by email ( which I had already found )

Hi all:

Interesting to learn from you guys about WCW and David Watson. Like to have something like WCW but failed to go through the sales page, prompted this message after clicking on the Order Now - "This recipient is currently unable to receive money" by PayPal.

Lee-Jones can help? Wanted to get the latest version of WCW.

Or anyone any idea about this PayPal issue?

Hi Pearson:

Thank for your reply.

For the past few days, I received at least 5 emails from David about his WCW and WBW newsletters. Followed the given link and landed to the sales page of WCW, clicked on the order button, Paypal showing "This recipient is currently unable to receive money". And the funny part was David's email even came with Coupon Code for purchasing the WCW.

Are David Watson is serious in the business or just a "typical" Internet Marketer??? That the BIG question mark in my mind.

websitewizardsoftware.com even listing all David Watson products but non of given links link through.....

Thank you.

I'm afraid I've made no further progress on getting in touch with David.

David is not a 'typical Internet marketer'. He's really a programmer with a very clever and inventive mind.

Well ... I have received a seasonal email from David: Happy new year etc.

But be prepared guys and gals, it seems that Website Wizard Software has an issue with IX web hosting.

So question is how long our software will still be working!

Hi,

I was afraid this was going to happen with Website Content Wizard. The same exact thing happemed with Website Article Wizard. The validation website disappeared and the program will not validate your license therefore you can't use it after 30 days. I figured out how to get it working again. Looks like the same thing is happening to WCW, because the validation website (websitecontentwizard.com) is down. Let me see if I can get this application working like I did with WAW. I will post it herer if I am successful.

Tresgros,

Here is a fix that will get your program running again. Follow each step closely. If you have any problems please let me know. My program is up and running again, with no help or support from David. If you no longer have access to a Working directory of Website Content Wizard (when your program was working) let me know so that I can email you a file you will need to get you running.

Step 1: Go to the current directory that you installed Website Content Wizard. i.e. C:/Program Files/Website Content Wizard/

Step 2: Copy the current (registered) .DAT files to a different folder. (WCW001.DAT and WCW002.DAT) (Note: we aren’t going to actually use WCW002.DAT, but this file is a part of the validation process)

Step 3: Reinstall your original copy of Website Content Wizard to a different computer. (if you can’t do this, contact me and I will email you the “raw” .DAT Files)

Step 4: Copy the "raw" .DAT files to a different folder. (WCW001.DAT and WCW002.DAT)

Step 5: Copy BOTH RAW .DAT files into the Website Content Wizard directory on your computer: WCW001.DAT and WCW002.DAT

Step 6: At this point, if you Start-up the program it will be in the original state when you first set it up. You will be asked to enter your License Number and Access Code. But, you don’t have it right?

Step 7: Copy the Registered File from Step 2 (WAW001.DAT) from the REGISTERED FILE Folder. (Note: Do Not copy the WAW002.DAT file because this file has been compromised and will limit your 30 days)

Step 8: Now when you execute the program you will receive an additional 30 days to use the program. Unfortunately you have to do this every 30 days, but the entire process takes less than a minute.

This same process works for Website Article Wizard and I would guess it would work for any of David Watson’s products. Too bad we paid for these products and are being forced to have to do this.

I will need you to send me via email the registered files because I did format my drive and reinstalled XP and WCW so when I start my WCW I get the registration screen after I enter my License Number and Access Code it try to connect to the dead site and I get a error.

Please email me what I need a trenorgros @ live dot com.

Thanks for your advise. Great tip...

And as far as David Warson is concerned, let's hope he gets himself and his business back on track.
He still owes me two programs that don't work.

Hi Rudy

Just got back to my desk after holidays and found the problem with WCW validation server.

I am up and running at the moment but will no doubt need your solution to continue using WCW.

As I don't have access to another compatible computer could you send me the data files I need to complete the process bob at tek - marine dot co dot uk.

I think its very commendable of you to take the trouble to help others which is very much appreciated

Anyone has any idea if Dave is coming back? Most interesting is just today, I got a spam mail advertising other products (affiliates marketing) from "him". He is still around I am sure, just hiding.

I have been trying to email him but totally no replies whatsoever. Some of you guys are lucky, you got version 3, I am stuck with version 2.xx (blame myself for not downloading earlier). His download site (the one with the IP address) were down before the websitecontentwizard.com went offline too.

Hate it when such things happen. I should pay someone to hack all software I bought so that I do not need to rely on all these silly validation systems which almost always go down after a year or so.

Sometimes it does not pay to stay legal does it?

Thanks for the tip. It gave me another month to work with. Lucky for me and thanks to you too I had a backup of the original install, the one I made back in November. Here's what I did: I got all the *.dta files from the original directory and copied/overwrite them over to the new install directory. I will run a batch file to do this automatically.

We're allowing this 'support' thread to stay open as help to Warriors who have been let down by Dave Watson's lack of support.

Please do not 'bash' Dave Watson any more. It's against the forum rules, we'll have to close down this useful thread and apparently he's not listening. The whole situation is awful - but it's pointless moaning about it.

Thanks.

I can't say too much on how to bypass this problem because in my day job alter ego I work in the B2B software development sector and I know some of the people who own the companies that produce piracy protection software.

However, this mess reminds me of when Oracle bought AppForge and shutdown the activation servers for the booster runtimes and screwed over a lot of people who had already paid thousands for their licenses.

Anyway, here's a tip that will help those who know what to do with it. Who can then help the others who don't know what to do with it. ;-)

All of David Watson's products (WCW, etc.) that I've seen are written in Softvelocity's Clarion.

And I'm pretty sure the protection scheme he uses is from Lindersoft.

Canuck, it doesnt help when we are not programmers and do not know what to do about it, even if we know the source.

Eddie, I'm sorry I can't be more explicit, but it really would be a conflict of interest for me to say too much because of my day job.

The reason I posted those hints at all was because I saw brw9532's clever workaround post and thought he/she might be able to take my hints, run with them and find a more permanent solution for everybody.

Thanks for posting your solution,

Talk about a nightmare I use WCW as a webiste builder (thinking outside the box) as well as an article spinner. Theres absolutely nothing better than this once you get a handle on how to use it

As everyone else has experienced I kept getting the licsense server error and only had until the 26th to find a solution

Unfortunately............

My computer motherboard fried this afternoon but looks like I might be able to get the data off the hard drive using a usb connection to the new computer. If this is the case will I be able to follow your instructions to get WCW working on the new PC?

Or do I need additional files that wouldn't be on the hard drive???

In any case I would appreciate your help. I can supply an email if need be

Thanks in advance

I never did get website submission wizard installed......and no one else seems to have been able to download a working copy ....not likely be able to get it now....seems like all the programs have disappeared.... If anyone has ever gotten a working download for the website SUBMISSION wizard and knows how to get it working now that would be awesome too....paid for it but never even got to use it once....

Thanks for the 30 day fix....if anyone comes up with a permanent solution...I would be interested hearing about it....I have most of David's programs and really like them....I would be very excited to have them continue working!

Tip Re: anyone used Website Content Wizard?

I have 3 of his products, been looking all over the internet for David, Googling his name for weeks etc,

It just came to my mind that maybe something drastic happened to David, a Stroke, a Heart Attack etc.,

His sites are all shut down or suspended for some reason or another.
Only time will tell, maybe one of his close associates will come upon this tread and shed some light.

Best Regards,
Gabby

MODERATOR COMMENT

Please avoid ALL references to David Watson from now on. If he were in hospital, he wouldn't be mailing his list so frequently.

The only purpose for this thread from now on is to provide what support we can for Warriors who are product owners. Nothing is to be gained from making positive or negative comments about the man himself.

Ok Pearson,
Got it, I agree, just saw so much bashing, that just maybe something else was going on.

If I find some info I will pass it along.

Hi, I've been trying your solution to no avail.

I am able to see my wcw program on my old laptop hard drive as it is connected via usb/ hard drive enclosure conected to new laptop. I can even open it up
However It gives me errors that it can't write to the files. Eventually it goes to the licesene verification server message then that's where I can see my projects in read only mode

I assumed the errors were because I was accessing the program through the old hard drive and because the program was not installed on the new laptop

What I did from there is to copy the 2 files from the old installation to a new folder on my deskstop then installed a fresh install on the new laptop

Looked for the 2 files from the fresh install and then copied them back into the old installation
and opened it up got the enter licesne dialog box. Closed the program and then copied the
WCW001.DAT (actually my files are like this WCW001.dta etc) back into the original install

Basically from there it repeated the previous errors from before and opened in read only mode

I even tried to copy the old files in to the new install on my pc but still got errors.
I'm encouraged that I'm able to open the software as I figure its close to being solved but am stuck at this point.

Thanks again for your help

Just a quick note to say that our company, Lindersoft, does not produce any protection scheme that uses a web server to "activate" an application.

Lindersoft is a global provider of installation authoring and software configuration management solutions for Windows-based applications. We do not develop server-based licensing and activation solutions.

I am looking to the .DAT files for WCW but all I find are the .dta files....are those the same?
brw9532 if you have a file that will help, I would appreciate getting it.

Thanks

Yes brw9532 means .dta files.

The raw WCW001.DTA and WCW002.DTA files are attached in a zip file.

My apologies Friedrich. That's what I get for going by memory.

I was confusing Capesoft's Secwin Online Server with SetupBuilder's web installation ability.

But you guys do make great installation software.

My WCW goes on Feb 5

I lost all my original raw data files so now I can use these.
Do you need a second computer to do this process ?

I think there is a lot of us out there that need help in this situation and guys like yourself and brw9532 are much appreciated

I don't think you need a second computer - the second computer was to get the raw files. The raw files that have been provided here in a previous post.

Here is a little tip though....My WCW was supposed to go down yesterday so I was getting as much done as I could down to the wire. Well it has continued to work and I am guessing it will as long as I keep the program open. I expect once I close it down or my computer reboots that it will not open again. So if you have a project not quite done, keep the WCW open before the deadline and you might get a few extra hours out of it before having to try the fix.
