Great thanks, brw9532

Will definitely try it with my copy. Did I understand correctly that after the fix it will run just like it was just installed and all the thesaurus will be gone? If so, is there any way to save them?

I made another attempt to get through to David Watson on Friday when I went to a lunch in London. I'm trying to get hold of a guy who is David's 'super-affiliate" and is often at this lunch. Unfortunately, he wasn't there but he did tell a friend of mine that he was in regular contact with David. So I'll keep trying.

No, all your projects and thesaurus will be intact
when you apply this technique, because all you are doing
is replace a registery file, nothing else is touvhed

The only downside is that you will need to
repeat the process each month in order to
use it for that next month.

Do you need a second computer to do this process ?

I think there is a lot of us out there that need help in this situation and guys like yourself and brw9532 are much appreciated

Many thanks

Paulette is quite right Bob - using the 2nd computer
was just a way to install the program in order to
get the .dta files.

Hi Guys,

My WCW expired yesterday (30-1-10) I tried the above solution with no success.

My current WCW is installed on Vista Home platform while my other PC is an XP based, can it be that RAW files created on XP won't work on Vista?

Or maybe this solution won't work on Vista anyway... (Registry issues??)

Can anyone send me a RAW WCW files for a Vista based WCW?

Thanks.

I have done it on both VIsta & XP, so it should be fine.

The RAW files are attached on page 2 of this thread.

I tried the RAW files and it doesn't work...
Whatever I do with whichever RAW files I always get that message:

"Unable to perform license validation"

I never make it to get back to that popup message when I first set the program up and was asked for the License number, Access code etc.

What am I missing?

Please HELP!

Thanks.

Did you have a running copy of WCW on your computer
to start with?
Or are you trying to install WCW fresh?

If you do not have WCW already installed on your computer,
then this will not work.

Yes, I have a fully licensed running copy of WCW for over a year now, it isn't a fresh install...

It seems to me that you have to apply that solution of .dta files PRIOR to the expiration date, otherwise, it might be too late...

Is that the case...?

I found that even after it had expired, it worked fine.

So, you

- created 2 folders in the WCW folder - RAW & REGISTERED.
- copied both registered 001 & 002 .dta files from WCW folder into REGISTERED folder.
- placed the 2 new raw 001 & 002 .dta files into the RAW folder.
- copied both the raw 001 & 002 .dta files into the WCW folder.
- copied the 001 .dta file from REGISTERED to your WCW folder.

Is that right?

BTW, save a few copies of the registered .dta files, in fact your whole WCW folder, and store them for future.

Mine will not work on my Vista system. I have it installed on my XP netbook and was able to use all the projects using the DTA swap method. Unfortunately all my main projects are on my Vista system, and the DTA file switch isn't working. Is there someone who has Vista and has revived an "expired" install of WCW? Something just isn't letting me do it.

**UPDATE**
I actually got it to work on Vista by CHANGING THE DATE to Jan 1st (Before mine expired on 24 Jan). So it is worth giving it a shot if you are in the same boat as me.

1) Change the date in Windows to a date before your copy expired (I used Jan 1st 2010)
2) Load WCW (It should give you the "Will expire on XX day popup")
3) Leave the WCW window open and change your windows date back to present day.

Repeat the process if needed. It's worked for me multiple times. Did it work for you?

Hello all,

After reading all the problems people are going through here, I have a litle suggestion which will work just fine for those still having problems.

TRY THIS TRICK:-

1. Before you open any of David's programs, change your computer's date. (I'm sure you know how to do this.)
Make it earlier than the expiry date which you get on the pop up.

2. Open all the programs (David's) you want to use. - You should be able to open them only getting the warning pop up message.

3. After this you will have to change back your computer back to current date. - This is because of the automated processes e.g. website blog wizard, website submission. Why - because they will be scheduled to run at later dates since you have back-dated your computer.

You can then keep your programs open for as long as you want. OR repeat the same next time.

I hope this helps someone and best of luck.

Kinuthia.

Ok guys,

I have a solution for everybody's problems. There is no need for the raw files if you do it this way. If you are running XP, it works great, but i have not tested it on vista or windows 7. You do not have to change the time on your computer.

All you have to do is go to
HTML Code:
nirsoft.net/utils/run_as_date.html
and download runasdate. It is Free.

1. Download run-as-date software and unzip it with winrar or winzip.
2. Click on RunASDATE.exe
3. Click on Browse Button to find the link software (c:\program files\websitecontentwizard\WCWizard.exe, click it than click open.
4. Go to where the (Date/Time) box and "set the date back like to Jan 1, 2000 or whatever you want".
5. Go to create desktop shortcut and type in WCWizard.
6. Press Run Button and bam. You have working websitecontentwizard with a icon on your desktop for 10 years or more. Do the same with website blog wizard and website article wizard and website header wizard or website submission wizard.

Cheers

Guys,

Now that we all know how to bring WCW back 'alive' does anyone knows how to backup their WCW.

Suppose I want to run my licensed WCW on my other PC including all my accumulated projects, what do I need to do ?

I installed WCW on another computer and licensed it using my exisiting license, I copied all original .DTA files into the new WCW - I can open WCW, but I can't see all my projects...

Is that the way to do it, or the project files are hiding somewhere else...?

Thanks.

Would anyone be willing to share a REGISTERED WCW001.dta and WCW002.dta so I can try to install this software? I'd be happy to provide proof I purchased it, if you're concerned.

Basically, I got suckered into purchasing WCW about 6 months ago when this pre-v3 promo was floating around. I got busy with other work and never got around to installing the software until recently, after the activation server went down. I'm hoping I can get some use out of it and not just be out the money

Thanks for all you have done figuring out this fix.

By the way, I did see the note on your website about not knowing of a way to get the software running if it wasn't already installed. Shouldn't my proposed method of swapping in someone else's registered DTA's files do the trick, considering that other posters have had success moving the Program Files from one computer to another? That's why I'm hoping someone will be willing to share their registered DTA's. As previosuly mentioned--I'm happy to provide proof of purchase. Just hoping to get some value out of this software, rather than it being a complete loss!

Thanks Hitme1, I've been following this post for months and this is the only solution that has worked for me.

By the way, David Watson, or someone using his name and the websitecontentwizard.com website sends me a new promotion, almost daily.

Does that mean tere is still a responsible party lurking somewhere?

This thread is the reason why I joined the Warrior Forum.

Got a virus on my computer and had corrupted backups. Reinstalled WCW. I had an extensive database of synonyms and articles. Now, nothing.

None of the fix methods work. I really liked this program.

I have that one, used it briefly along with a similar one called:
Site Profit Bot which I liked too.

One of them was only $37 for a lifetime license, Maybe it was that one?

Try Site Profit Bot - you just might like it!!

All these similar names are so confusing. I had this WCW mixed up with CWB

Why is it a problem to install on another computer?
Do you not have the installation files?

Why is ist a problem to back up?
Or can you not find the data files :

WCW saves all projects in your Application Data folders, not in C:\Program Files\WebsiteContentWizard

On my computer (using Vista) the path is :
C:\Users\neil\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\WebsiteContentWizard

Default Re: anyone used Website Content Wizard?

I have a variation to the problem of accessing software I purchased from David Watson.

I have Website Development Wizard, not Website Content Wizard. Originally purchased 17th April, 2009.

My problem is that I had the software installed on a PC that had total hard disk crash of two drives in RAID and the external back-up drive. Don't ask me how much pain that caused, I don't want to talk about it.

I still have the original installer archive on another external hard disk, so I have run the installer but I get the Initialization and Registration pop-up

(screenshot at screencast.com/t/ZDBjMDFkZ)

So I don't have any original registered .DAT files to recover with, nor I think will setting my clock back help in this instance.

As the domain for websitedevelopmentwizard.com is expired, there's no way I can login to the system to get a license and activation code.

Can anyone suggest any way I can make use of this software that I paid for?

I have still got my emails from David with access details for the website.

ie. "Hi Bradley,

welcome to WebsiteDevelopmentWizard,

Please keep the following information secure, so that you will be able to refer to it in future.

To login to your account, you need to go to (link won't post) websitedevelopmentwizard.com and click the menu option LOGIN."

etc.

Thank you very much for any assistance with this.

warm regards,

Bradley

Do you not have the installation files?

Why is ist a problem to back up?
Or can you not find the data files :

WCW saves all projects in your Application Data folders, not in C:Program FilesWebsiteContentWizard

On my computer (using Vista) the path is :
C:UsersneilAppDataLocalVirtualStoreProgram FilesWebsiteContentWizard
Thanks for this important tip which is good for Vista, but I can't find these files under my Windows XP....

I'll just answer my own question.....:

To backup your WCW projects on XP (unlike in Vista) WCW keeps all your projects under C:/Program Files/WebsiteContentWizard

Default Happy to be here! -- Finally!

Hi,

Any breakthrough for people trying to install a fresh copy?

I have my Licence Number and Access Code, However nothing happens when the "ok" button is clicked.

WebsiteContentWizard-204Setup.exe is my setup file, so I believe my version is 2.04

My copy had worked fine in past and I have developed more than 2000 articles with this extraordinary software.

Anyone willing to share their .dta files so that I can get it working?

-------------------------------------------------------

PS: Any other software which can do the "excel data" trick wcw supported?

I doubt that anyone would state publically here that
they will give you a copy of their registered files

I'd better put another post into this thread for any passing super-moderators.

Please consult Pearson Brown before taking any action on this thread. Yes, it is unusual but the circumstances are very unusual.

Thank you Pearson, appreciate your understanding

And as you say, it is an unusual situation, and it just
comes down to buyers wanting to be able to use
the program they paid for, not to rip anyone off.

Thanks.

I had the same problem last month when i tried using WCW. However, the problem did not exist the next time I used the program. It seems to be an acute problem that goes away. But it is very worrying, I agree, since you expect service from the vendor.

Both of the links for WAW and WCW fix sites give this message:

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I have at least 4 of the Wizard products and cannot get to the license server
on any of them. Looking forward to a fix for WAW since I did not have it installed.
Just tried to install, put in license and access code and it couldn't find the server so it
won't install.

Thanks for everyone's help on this.
