Best software in 2015 to create VSL's?

Hey Warriors, I'm looking for a good program that will help me make great VSL's. I'm not worried about the script, or voiceover...I just want something that'll put all the elements together easily.

Any suggestions?

    Just found EasyVSL.com, but in the past I read it had a lot of bugs.

    Has it gotten better or are there other programs that are better now?

      Hi Dayne,
      Yeah - EasyVSL is bug free (or at least 100% of all known bugs have been fixed. The original bugs that were mentioned way back in January '15 were fixed within a couple weeks of launch, but for whatever reason, the original people who posted about the bugs or blogged about them did not update their comments. That's the crux about reading old reviews and posts. haha.

      If any new issues come in to our support desk (usually user-specific at this point) , we usually get them fixed within a day or two. Thus far, we have had nearly 40 software updates and new versions coming out with either completely NEW features or add-ons with the software based on the feedback from our customers.

      The full version log can be found at Version History so you can see that this software is continually being updated for our 30,000+ customers.

    Why complicate things? Powerpoint (or its openoffice equivalent) plus a screen capture tool does the trick perfectly well, and for a lot less $$.

      PowerPoint 2010 and 2013 both export as video, so there's no need for a screen capture program to create videos using PPT, although they can come in handy too. Also, OpenOffice Impress doesn't export as video so you will need a screen capture program if you use OO.


      PowerPoint has a free 30 day trial, then it's only $6.95 a month to "rent" from the cloud. I think it's a great value and is my favorite program for creating marketing videos.

But for only $6.95 a month PowerPoint will save a lot of time. There's also tons of free and cheap media made for PowerPoint that will make video making even easier.

        ActivePresenter is money. (Slang terminology for awesome).

        PS:

        I've never bothered using the export video feature in PowerPoint.

        Is it easier than just using ActivePresenter to record? (Can you edit video with PowerPoint?).

          I don't see any reason not to just use PPT and export directly as video.


          Note that PPT 2010 only exports as WMV, while PPT 2013 exports as WMV and MP4.

      I need something that can easily sync up a voice over as well.

    I bought EasyVSL in the early days and it did have some bugs but
    they have worked out the kinks. I think it is the best /easiest /cheapest
    solution to using PowerPoint and a screen recorder. You can see a

      You don't need a screen capture program to make videos using Powerpoint. As I've posted dozens of times, PowerPoint 2010 and 2013 export directly as video.

      File => Export => Export as Video

      That's not hard.

      Also, I'd bet I can make VSLs using Powerpoint using text files faster and easier than EasyVSL can, including recording the voice over (which can be done directly in PPT) and syncing with each slide (which is done automatically when recording audio using PPT).


      PowerPoint can also use video (or videos) as backgrounds and is good with animated transparent GIFs, something many video programs can't handle. A good collection of animated GIFs make video making very easy.

        There is no option File => Export => Export as Video in PP 2010. It must be only 2013.

        And I can't see any way of recording the voice-over in 2010 PP

          I found a number of videos in about 60 seconds on Youtube that show how to record audio in PowerPoint 2010.


          I've also seen videos on YT that show how to export as video in PPT 2010.

      Thanks Ray, I appreciate the update on this. This was the one program that seemed like it fit exactly what I wanted...but the reviews in the past were not good.

      This seems like a much, much better option than putting all the elements together on PP, that's for sure.

        No, it's not really..For starters, if you want to "put all the elements together", you need an additional recording software such as Audacity for Easy VSL, then import your MP3(s) into EasyVSL.


        PPT lets you record directly into your presentation/video.

    Let me also add, I haven't used EasyVSL and just watched the videos, so...


    If you already have a video voice over recorded, it's probably faster and easier to use EVSL. However, if you need to record the voice over, then PPT will be easier.


    EVSL is probably a little easier to learn at first, while PPT is more powerful and has many more features. However, once you learn how to create VSLs the right way using PPT, PPT will be faster and easier.

    I'll already have the voice overs done for me.

    I also like in EASYVSL how you can import your entire script, simply add markups to the end of each line, and it automatically creates all the main slides at once.

    Does PP do this?

      I' haven't used the new PPT so I didn't know about the video export feature,
      but this was my biggest hurdle as well--chopping up the text for each slide.

        PPT will import txt files, .doc, .docx and lots more and "chop up" the text into individual slides automatically when importing. You can then use the "master slide" feature and modify all of the slides at once with images, colors, fonts, backgrounds, animations, etc, and/or customize each slide individually.


        Plus when you get PPT for $6.95 a month, you also get Word, Excel, etc.
