Is Bluehost better than Host Gator (even though both are EIG)?

I currently use Host Gator.

Lately, my WordPress websites keep going down to do database errors. This rarely happened before they sold out to EIG. I've been using them since forever it seems.

I know Bluehost is also owned by EIG.

But for those of you using Bluehost *shared* hosting, and if you're also using WordPress, do you experience problems?

Is Bluehost's shared hosting somehow 'better' than HG?

I assume they've all migrated to the same datacentre...

And if Bluehost also 'sucks' -- who do you guys recommend as a reliable webhost for shared hosting?

That's the same as asking is an apple better than an orange.

If you're planning on moving your hosting, choose a new company that's not owned by EIG, otherwise you may as well stay where you are. There are many excellent hosting companies out there not owned by EIG, for example Big Scoots (whom I use), Siteground, A2 and Greengeeks (whom I also use).

I have had Hostgator forever myself. The only reason why I have not moved is because nothing bad has happened ( cross my fingers and knock on wood) But Iam seriously looking to moving. Bluehost would not even be considered in the equation thanks to EIG.

        No way.

LOL. I must be crazy to even consider Bluehost even though I outright KNOW it's an EIG company.

Do you use WordPress? Have you been having the database connection lost outages lately, discrat?

I started with BH shared hosting and later moved to business hosting with them. Customer support has always been very good.

Liquid Web is the non-EIG company I've recommended to clients, and their performance has been good as well.

Shared hosting is going to suck for you sooner or later. Hundreds of websites hosted on a single server. If someone started to eat RAM, your site will also get slow. It's something very hard to control. If you're willing to move, move to a VPS. What you're about to do is like switching pillows to get rid of headache.

Get a $10 VPS from DigitalOcean and get this guy to set it up,

I use GoDaddy and I am happy with it. What's even cooler, I got a great domain at $0.99 for 1 year by using a coupon which I found on Google.

I had Bluehost for about 10 years and never had an issue until 3 years ago. Since then, my server was hacked 3 times, support was horrible and when I needed a downloadable copy of cpanel I was told I couldn't get it.

I moved and went to Liquid Web.
