Do you guys use Windows VPS for internet marketing?

Hello,

I know many people from other forums using Windows VPS for their internet marketing tasks. They usually use it to run (legal) SEO Softwares, such as to check the competition, backlinks, etc.

Also, many of them use the VPS as a personal PC for work, to keep all their files there and access it from anywhere.

Do you guys usually use a Windows VPS? Or do you think is not necessary?

I use Windows VPS for various tasks.

Such as to run automated software, moving large files between servers etc. I mainly use it for the speed, since my home connection is slow.

I use windows vps for forex, it's KVM windows vps, I 've been using it for a while and nothing went wrong, so it's a good tool if you need their options

All my servers are Linux and FreeBSD.

I never once used a server with windows on it.

I haven't used my own WIN server, but a friend had one and gave me access. The thing I didn't like about is was that using Remote Desktop with it seemed to make it "lag" with things like moving my mouse and seeing the cursor move a few seconds later.

My friend told me later that he updated something and the lag was much better.

If the lag isn't bad and you travel a lot, have a slow connection or limited bandwidth, and/or do a lot of automation, using a WIN server is something to check into, especially with rates as low as they are now.

I've thought about using a WIN VPS, but after weighing the issues, I think just getting another PC is a better option for me.

If you travel or have bandwidth issues, then a remote WIN server is probably a better option. But considering how cheap PCs and laptops are now on ebay, it makes sense in many cases to just get another WIN PC to run automated tasks.

Absolutely not for hosting WordPress. Getting WordPress permalinks to work on Windows IIS is a pain in the butt. It simply wasn't made for Windows and it's very easy to break with odd Windows patches.

That said, I know plenty of people running SEO-based programs on a Windows VPS. This frees up their workstation and allows VA's to perform remote work for them.
