Hostgator used to have great customer service but not it is horrible. Are you guys finding the same? Are you moving your websites to a new platform? If so, what?

    Hostgator has great customer service.

As always, use the Live Chat.

Just curious, which hosting plan did you buy?

Yukon you have got to be kidding me? Have you used their service lately.

Even "Live Chat" is a joke. I have been up waiting for them to respond on numerous occasions for hours. They initially count down that someone will be with you in so many minutes, then they say "someone will be with you shortly" and that takes forever... Very disappointed with them and looking for alternatives.

In regards to which plan do I have, does it matter? Do you mean if you don't pay enough they will treat you horrible?

No, that's not even remotely what I meant.

Go click the HG Live Support link. They ask you which package you have. My point was it's possible each package is routed to a different support depending on what you select on the Live Support chat.

Shared host doesn't need much support compared to reseller or dedicated hosting.

Ive been with Hostgator for over 10 years and have the best support record from them.
The Chat support sucks only in that it takes sooo long for them to answer-- then to answer each line you type. BUT dont use that one! Phone them free on their phone line!
Usually the guys fix my problem right away -- and usually do "above and beyond the call of duty."
I have been with the two highest priced host servers and their support was just about the same, only difference was the wait time for them to get on the line to talk to you was less.
I had dedicated server with them so that maybe why they were quick :-)
But hostgator is like 1/5th price as the big servers.. so I dont mind a phone wait of half an hour at their peak times.. worth the money to me. hope this helps you guys.. my advice: if your traffic is low enough to have a shared account.. stick with hostgator for the dollar value. If your traffic is over 100K a month.. get a VPS or dedicated line (you need it) and go with a higher priced server :-)

Same complaint - move to a different host to solve the problem.

I've used HG for 15 yrs or more - no problem. However, looking back I've needed to contact "customer service" twice in the past 3-4 years. Had no problem getting answers and service was not that slow.

What sort of problems do you have that requires customer service on "numerous occasions"?

I've been a Host Gator customer for 6 years and I've never had a problem with their customer service.

I'm not surprised to hear this at all. HostGator's customer service has been steadily dropping over the years. I tried to reach out to them and it took forever, exactly the same scenario as you, everyonewins.

After the EIG takes over a company, it's the same story. Happened with Bluehost, happened with Site5, and it has happened with HostGator too.
I've seen too many horror stories from people about the complete lack of help from their tech support and sites just being left to get hacked.

I would recommend almost anywhere else but HostGator. Certainly not any other EIG companies of course! My best advice to you would be to check out WPX Hosting, WordPress, com, or maybe siteground.

You need to find the independent companies, as they're the ones that actually care about their reputation and tech support. Check out customer reviews for whatever site you've got your eye on too!

Everyone and their brother has Google alerts setup looking for competition forum rant threads so they can spam their host/links.

HostGator are such a large company that opinions are going to vary wildly. I can only comment on what I have read, I've seen the gamut of user experiences and I'd recommend anyone to check them out: https://webhostinggeeks.com/user-reviews/hostgator/

I know user reviews can be anecdotal, but they'll clue you in on what persistent issues are dogging a hosting company. Hope that was helpful!

Sounds like the domain was on "auto renew" and you didn't cancel that renewal.

I have also seen a decline in the customer service of Hostgator. It was the hosting that I recommended to all of my clients. I would tell my clients it is inexpensive and the customer service is stellar.

In the past year I have had to call upon customer service a number of times and it is really and miss.

I find the biggest challenge I have with their support tickets is that you do not get the same support agent throughout any posted ticket. You will create a ticket, one agent will reply, then you reply and a different support agent will reply. I find that they do not even read the entire thread. They just post their generic scripted answers. I've found it very time consuming to get answers from support.

My clients have had the same issues.

I also use a smaller hosting company called Hawkhost [https://www.hawkhost.com/] which I have found to be quite good. Their customer support team is very prompt. Of course the last time I needed to use their support was over a year ago.

Hostgator is part of EIG too. You better find other alternatives. Basically, EIG providers don't provide great customer service. I would recommend you to find other alternative. I personally have good experience with asphostportal. Their price quite higher but they offer reliable service

Host gator was slow and terrible for wordless. I moved all my sites to inmotion hosting which was lightning fast compared to host gator.

Also, their customer service helped me through the entire merging of sites.

I've used hostgator for years. I think I've only ever contacted their support once and that wasn't recently. Service wise though while they aren't the cheapest they are reliable

Yea I have noticed some defficiencies over the past several months since their change but I have remained with them just because of the hassles associated with moving everything to another host

Some hosting companies offer to move your site as part of your hosting package - WebHostingHub.com is where I switched almost a year ago from HG and they moved three of my sites as part of the package - no hassle, whatsoever.
