Which one is better Wordpress or Wix?

Hi everyone, i have been using wix for a while and its been quite good to me, had no real issues with it.

I have been told by lots of people i should switch over to Wordpress as the SEO is better for ranking...is this true?

I wanted to start a website promoting Music Artist (Videos) is it best i go for a Blog style website to give it a different look or do i stick to a normal video layout website?

I feel wordpress has huge potential but it looks very limited. I have gone through most of the interface and you can barely do anything to your website but change fonts, logo, background and thats it. The themes are nowhere near as good as Wix Free themes. I was told Wordpress is free also but how can it be when you need to sign up to a monthly hosting.

can anyone help with which idea i should go for..?

Thanks

this section of the forum is for members to communicate suggestions and ideas to make the forum better, not for people to ask for suggestions on products.

please post this in either "Internet Product Reviews" or "Website Design"

Wix pretty much sucks for SEO. So badly that they have been having a contest this year to improve that perception. They are failing at it pretty badly.

If you want to switch to Wordpress, you will need a website hosting account.

All of that being said, if I were you I probably would just forget about SEO anyhow. Unless you have a very specialized niche, you are never going to rank against all the big sites in the music industry. You are better off going through social media to try to get attention.

That is ridiculous. Wix is dogshit.

Wordpress has thousands of themes you can use and tons of plugins that add all kinds of functionality to it. Wordpress can do far more than just blogging. Hell, most of the sites I make with Wordpress don't even have a blog on them.

sounds great. I guess i will have to learn more on wordpress and get to grips with the tools. What about a service website promoting videos is this possible on wordpress? as the website wont be a blog. Thank you for the advice.

*facepalm*....Wordpress is far more customizable...look at how many free and premium themes and plugins there are. Don't like any, you can code your own. Wix is also NOT YOURS. Your Wordpress site is. SEO? Wordpress all the way.

Can't comment on Wix but I've always liked Wordpress. I've heard really good things about Squarespace as well if that one ever goes into the running for ya

I haven't had much experience with Wix but a lot with WP so I recommend WP but choose the (dot) org, NOT (dot) com where you have no control.

However, if you're not serious about what you're doing, then you can use Wix or the free WordPress options.

I have developed some sites in wix, squarespace, built my own using bootstrap and used wordpress extensively. If you are concerned about ranking or competing in the internet space - all things being equal, word press or custom built will win every time - by a large margin. Also wix loading issues can be a concern - you cant optimize their hosting environment. There are pros and cons to any platform.

Wordpress is the best and you may have quality Wordpress services from hostwinds.com and hostround.com.
Prices are low and support is skillful and knowledgeable.

Wordpress is not the best, but way better than WIX definitely.
If you go for Wordpress look out for good hosting. I had all of my Wordpress pages hacked multiple times, and it was definitely bad hosting security. Since switching over to a local company here in Austria I have had no issues.
Wordpress will get hacked, so when you make the switch, start implementig all kinds of firewalls and security plug-ins straight away

As said by most users here....WordPress is far better in SEO than WIx. Even I had my website in Wix but ultimately switched over to WordPress due to ranking issues.
    You can trust WordPress blind-foldedly.

Wordpress provide more customization, providing thousands of themes. As in SEO point of view Wordpress is far better than any other.
A little bit of research at Google will provide you posts telling why Wordpress is best of all in SEO point of view.

  • Honestly, I prefer Wix. It's much easier to use and you can do great customization with it. They have some great themes on Wix. I always found Wordpress very complicated to use and with all the plugins, etc. Wix is better!!

    definitely Wordpress.
Wix is only easier to use, but it's really good for design stuffs
I agree that Wordpress is so complicated but it is the best with SEO. And if you deeply explore it, Wordpress will be a higher level than Wix.
