I have been having more trouble lately with Namecheap than all the other ISP's I work with combined, even including Godaddy.

A few days ago, one of my primary email addresses stopped working. Meaning no incoming email. I've had that particular email address working steadily for over a year.

I get on a tech support live chat with Namecheap who tells me a dozen different things, ending with sending me 'new' instructions on the servers I have to use in my mail client.

In other words, the changed mail servers, didn't tell anyone using those particular machines, and simply said "here's the settings". Never would acknowledge they did anything.

In fact, every problem I have with them, they have been unwilling to acknowledge anything, even when it's indisputably on their end.

Just a few minutes ago, I get this email:

Dear Customer,

Due to the recent issue with server1.namecheaphosting.com we kindly ask you to re-upload your index (.htm, html, php etc) page for your account as it has been corrupted.

We once again sincerely apologize for all the troubles and inconveniences this has caused you and assure you that we are and will be doing our best to prevent such incidents in future. We would also like to thank you for your patience and understanding while we resolved the issue.

Please do not hesitate to contact our Hosting Technical support if you need any assistance with the issue.

Sincerely yours,
NameCheap Hosting Support Team

I log onto their forum and loads of really scary posts - at least if you're doing anything beyone domain name registration with them.

Anyone else using them for mail hosting or VPS?

Also, if anyone can PM me Richard Kirkendall's email address, I'd appreciate it.

Mark

My two sites are hosted with namecheap, and they are working fine. About a month ago I had issue with both of these sites as they weren't being visible on net for 24 hours but upon contacting their tech support they gave me their new name servers, and the issue then resolved. Since then everything working fine.

I think it's generally a good idea to separate domain registration from hosting.

I use Namecheap for my domain registrations. They're great at that part of it.

For hosting I use Kiosk (soon to be GVO). They're equally great for hosting.

I use Godaddy for domains and Hostgator for hosting. They're the best and they have 24/7 support.

        JazzOscar,

I use GVO for hosting too, so far, excellent service. I few burps once in a great while, but other than that, I would strongly recommend them.

Thanks for sharing your experience too.

Namecheap for domains, HastyHost for hosting. Never an issue with them and they are FAST and responsive. And have one of the cheapest reseller packages around.

I'm not even going to use my affiliate link for this, because I really do believe in the company and I have been thrilled with the service.

Best web-host I have ever had in all of the years I have been doing web design or have my own sites. Fast customer support, easy navigation, and so far I have had no downtime.

I used namecheap once for registering a domain... i got disappointed in them because they changed some stuff on their server and i had a lot of issues with my domain on other hosting accounts.

Now I use GoDaddy... they are cool for domain registration )
