Default What is your preference: aWeber or GetResponse?

Just about to sign up for an autoresponder and wondering if anyone feels that one of these two is better then the other...

Thanks!

I think aweber has a few more features and almost everyone I receive mail from ( 100's ) is using aweber including myself.

Have you taken a look at iContact? I really like their community feature and it gets indexed by Google rather quickly. They're also releasing an API I'm going to look at - though aWeber's API offering is a bit more mature.
Best of luck,

I have heard that GetResponse is better. Here are two indications of that:

1) I heard that GetResponse has a very good deliverability rate. Better then all other autoresponders
2) I also heard most top marketers use GetResponse. This might be a good indication is the best. But again, many top marketers use more then 1 autoresponder...

Do a 'search' for Aweber + GetResponse debates and fun arguments

Hi Roxanne,

A recent thread with ID 134355 had some negative comments about aweber from jeff-em. His words struck me as truer than the hundreds of one-liner, starry-eyed declarations of aweber allegiance, which smell of Stockholm Syndrome. I've pasted his comments below, in case you have difficulty finding it.

Cheers,

Steve

jeff-em said:

I came across your post while doing a search for forum discussions among AWeber, iContact, GetResponse, MailChimp, ConstantContact, and etc.

I used to be a pure web developer/designer as a freelancer. But since joining a QA/QC inspection equipment manufacturer, I have taken on the role of a Web Marketer and SEO Specialist.

It has been 12 months since we started using AWeber as our e-marketing solution. Being in a traditional industry, such as manufacturing, AWeber's policies have been very, very annoying. We have butted heads time and time again over the double opt-in requirement, the deliverability and other unfriendly factors.

It shouldn't be this unpleasant. Seriously, AWeber has made my job extremely frustrating and stressful. Outside of AWeber, my bosses love the new dimension that I bring to the company in terms of eCommerce, Social Media and etc.

We are currently considering alternatives, because it is really not feasible anymore to use AWeber. The management team at AWeber has gotten their ego inflated too far, mostly through bloggers and e-book sellers. The same was the case with Dreamhost, a rapidly successful webhost. When they start making life difficult for the customers, their demise will be just as instant as their rise to the top. Dreamhost and AWeber will be history when more and more people realize how unreliable, annoying and "un-customer-friendly" they are.

I use getresponse, I signed up with it for a full year.

And now I kind of regreting it, cause I'm not so satisfied with it.

The only reason I signed up with Getresponse was their price, which is cheaper than Aweber.
But Aweber has more options when it comes to customizing your webforms, and a much friendly user interface.

As soon as my 1 year memberships is over, I'm switching to Aweber.

I have been with IContact for almost 2 years and I am thinking of switching to AWeber or GetResponse. IContact's list management capabilities are very limited!

What are your deliverability rates for AWeber and GetResponse? Do either of these 2 companies allow list upload without double opt-in confirmation? My list are all direct subscribers meaning they subscribed to my list directly and are not purchased from a 3rd party. I don't want to switch email companies and have my subscribers re-opt in again.

I really like GetResponse. Their API is much better than aweber so you can do more customization. They allow for single opt in which allows me to do some very cool things like send an email to the customer as they are moving through the funnel (see Talk Show Tips for an example) and then refer to the email they have already recieved as a value add during the second step of the conversion process.

The thing I like best about GetResponse is that I can add customers to a "purcahsed" list automatically through my DL Guard interface. That makes sense to the customer.

It's not automatic with aweber since the customer has to double-opt in. I think that's confusing... when they purcahse a product they should not get another email from aweber that says - do you want to join this list? I know why aweber does it, but the customer doesn't.

Hi RevSharNow,

Does GetResponse allow me to upload my list of subscribers when I first use their service "without" emailing my list to confirm subscription? AWeber requires double opt-in so I don't think I want to use them.

My vote a Weber. I was pleasantly surprise. I had a a Weber account in the olden days.
And it could had been a little user-friendly. However, now I 'm salivating about how easy and user-friendly it is.

We are using Aweber some years already and we are still satisfied

I don't like 100% integration with other systems by mail parsers, but after you get working first mail parser and understand how it is working, it starts to be easy to use this newsletter.

Hey, this is my first post. I joined and paid a few days ago. I figured that membership here should be a priority particularly because of threads like this, and came across this thread while Googling. I don't want to hijack the thread, but I also don't se the point of starting a new one for basically the same topic. I'm starting my first set of newsletters for 3 different sites and I'm leaning towards Mailchimp because of its wordpress plugins and google analytics integration. I'd like to know if others have used aweber, getresponse, mailchimp, or constantcontact to manage multiple lists and if anyone has had any issues with the mailchimp plugins for wordpress. I'd also like to know if anyone would see an issue with having the same newsletter/list for two sites.
Thanks!

Honestly, Aweber and Getresponse shouldn't be your choices. Aweber is too pricey, and Getresponse has been horrible in performance and customer service since their switch over earlier this year.

Go with something like ProSender ProSender which is a private label of Aweber so it works the same but is significantly cheaper or

Imnica Mail, which is owned by a warrior here. New kid on teh block but the price is right and the customer service is great, I have been using them and the service is great also. Imnica Mail

Best Regards,

The way I choose is by features not price.

Aweber has good features... they do allow certain members scripts to sign in directly without double option.

Getresponse has added survey features and has ability to use your own domain and additional custom web pages as awell as thankyou and confirmed email page.

I have had experienced occasional hiccups - long delays with confirmation email with all both Aweber and Getresponse - the key is how fast is their ability to recover.

You may want to check out constant contact - a 60-day trial offer without CC.

The feature I would like to see is rotating & split-testing of thankyou/confirmed pages as well as sign forms, so it more integrated.
Maybe google could do this since they they do everything nowadays.

Just want to second Imnica Mail, you owe it to yourself to check them out. They even have a better deal going right now than what I signed up with.

I'm very happy with my price and the new pricing is even better. Great service.
