Default What do you use to send autoresponders?

I recently moved to 1ShoppingCart for my complete eCommerce and mailing list management.

But I'm kind of taken aback by just discovering today that there is no tracking available for my autoresponders. I can add custom links in my auto-responders that I can track, but there is no way to track open rate or anything else for any of my autoresponder emails.

I called support today, and they said that reporting is available for broadcast emails, but not autoresponders.

Is this kind of ridiculous? Or is this the norm?

Anyone have any feedback on this?

What are you using for your autoresponders? Is it for some reason not a big deal to be able to track autoresponders? Am I overthinking this? I would like to be able to see the open rate of my emails, how many got clicked on (without having to set up different links for every one), and if any prompted unsubscribes. Am I asking too much?

Does anyone use 1ShoppingCart, and a separate package for email marketing?

Do you recommend a separate package for everything? 1ShoppingCart came highly recommended to me from a couple of different sources but I'm wondering now if I made the right decision...

Thanks for any advice or clarity!
Elliott

Hi Elliott,
I have been using Aweber for a few months and find it very user friendly. They have tracking devices and you can find out the people who opened your emails and the ones that did not, so you can send them another email.

Actually 1shopping cart has another drawback to be aware of compared to aweber or icontact. They only have about a 50% deliverable rate compared to 90-97% with the other two. What are you doing that requires 1shopping cart other than autoresponders?

Hi

I use Aweber and so far it has been good.It is very easy to use and the tracking is good too. You can import your own leads but they have to confirm before they get e-mails from aweber.

It is reliable in that the e-mails are sent as opposed to some autoreponders that do not send e-mails when they are supposed to. However, your success depends on a lot of testing and trial and error plays a part to.If this one does not work ,try getresponse.

I just signed on with iContact. Purely because it's cheap, and I don't need a lot of fancy stuff. So far, so good.

Waitaminute......how recently did you test this and where exactly are you getting that 50% rate? In all my testing I've never had that low of a delivery rate with 1SC. It's actually a lot closer to Aweber's than that.

I've switched to aWeber, and so far it's pretty cool, EXCEPT for one big thing.

It takes a while to send the confirmation email when someone subscribers compared to 1ShoppingCart.

With 1ShoppingCart, when someone subscribed, they got the opt-in email immediately. Then when they clicked the opt-in link, they got the follow-up email immediately.

With my aWeber opt in form, it takes a minute or more to send the opt-in email, then it takes up to 2 minutes to send the follow up email. This is kind of a big deal. Is this normal? What's up with this?

I could see this having a big negative impact on opt-ins since a minute is just long enough that they might move to something else and forget to opt in...

We have never had that low of delivery rates in the 3 years that I have been with the company. I have however seen merchants with that low delivery rates due to the marketing they are sending. As of this very moment our delivery rate for unconfirmed email is 95% and for confirmed email it is 98%.

It seems to me that the main drawback with using 1shoppingcart for email autoresponders is that the reporting is really limited...or actually mostly non-existant, and the message editor is a pretty clunky interface. Also, there is no ability to control when your autoresponders get sent. If you want to track links in your emails, you have to set up every link individually which can be a big pain in the butt. I guess overall, 1ShoppingCarts autoresponder functionality is really really archaic compared to what else is out there....now that I have experienced both.

Though in all fairness, 1ShoppingCart is a shopping cart, and not an auto-responder software. aWeber does just email marketing so I guess what they offer is bound to be a lot better.

At the same time though, 1ShoppingCart does market themselves as an email marketing solution (now that I'm looking at their homepage).

Hmmmm....

Anyway, I'm glad I decided to make the investment in aWeber over using 1ShoppingCart's email functionality. It's a little extra money, but it's like a whole new world in terms of what it can do, and what value I know that will give my business.
