A problem when using article submission programs is that the directories don't all use the same category listing.

There is also some questionable value in using the drip feed method of submitting articles in that the directories themselves do not approve your submissions at the same time. Their administrators can take weeks or even months before they get around to examining and approving your article.

Because of this, there seems to be little value in this sort of submission unless you have a lot of articles that you want to submit at the same time.

However, a key problem with automatic submission is that categories are not standardized and submission may not be to the most appropriate category, leading the directory to reject it. Those giving approval may receive hundreds of submissions a day and not have time to place your article in a better category. Rejecting it saves their time but costs you a good placement. Automatic submission can lead to a high level of rejection.

I've found that it isn't necessary to have hundreds of directories receiving the article. If you focus on the top 20-30 and use a program like Article Post Robot to submit to them using its manual submission (which is semi-automatic), you are able to check the individual submission and be sure that it meets the requirements of the directory for category, word length, etc. Doing it this way takes about an hour to submit to 30 good directories but I am rarely rejected.
