Default Which is better and easier to use HostGator or Homestead.com?

I know nothing about Web design and HTML and hosting. Which one would be easier for someone like me?

Thanks,

if your a beginner to web design, wordpress would be the best to use. There are lots of tutorials available online. You can also try to use Blogger of google for simple blogs as well. Wix.com also offers user friendly template for web design for newbies.

Goodluck!

Hi Webmaster,
Is Wordpress hard to learn opposed to say Homestead which is point and click? Also is you use Wordpress to create a site do you have to pay for hosting? Excuse the stupid questions I'm new at this.

Thanks,

You'll require hosting either way. Hostgator technical support is second to none.

Cheers

Hi

We've all been where you are now - confused! But despair not because you've come to the right place to ask your questions. There are so many experts in various fields here that you will be snowed under with good advice but here are a few simple pointers.

Whatever you do, NEVER start with a program where you become totally dependent for your web creation, web hosting, domain purchasing etc, etc, etc on one provider. In other words don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Homestead may be easy to begin with but if you value independence and flexibility, then this may not be right for you.

WordPress blogs are easy and free to create using an inbuilt tool within the cPanel of your host account: Fantastico Deluxe.

You will need the following:

A domain name (you could use GoDaddy)

An host account (bluehost.com or hostmonster or hostgator all of which are great). Just make sure that the program you choose has cPanel and Fantastico Deluxe. Most host providers will also have easy web creation tools available to you (free) if you wish to create websites (not blogs).

If you don't know how to do anything like pointing your domain name from GoDaddy to your host server or uploading (referred to as ftp) a file to your host account, then simply Google "Videos" then when you go to YouTube.com or any other video site, search something like "how do I do point my domain to my host's NS (name server)?" or "how to ftp a file to my host server?" and you'll find many video demos for them.

There are several excellent tutorial sites (some are totally free) where you can learn to do whatever it is that you cannot do. Google search "how to create a website" and you'll see several sites appear.

Don't buy any product without doing a search for "web host reviews" or "domain name provider reviews" or "web editor reviews" and so on. Most of them will be affiliate sites promoting the products but among these, a number will provide you with detailed information on which you can base your decisions.

Good Luck!
