I know it's a long shot but...

I am looking for a hosting company with servers in the UK, but significantly, have similar features to hosts such as hostgator. Specifically:

-I quite like the cpanel setup
- I also am a fan of having something the same or similar to fantastico, where I can easily install wordpress and other scripts with a few simple clicks etc.

I used to hosting with justhosts (I think) or one of the bigger UK ones, and it was a VERY involved process to get wordpress setup on their hosting (even when we were uploading wordpress to our own hosting!) and they charged us around £60 just to be allowed to use Wordpress on the server.

Clearly, this kind of service isn't really desirable.

But I would quite like the servers to be in the UK to improve UK search engine results.

I remember a test that 30DC+ did on this using Australian domains/hosting. It did make a difference sometimes but only of a place or so. If you've got a site on page 7, it's not going to shoot up to page 1 because of this.

Going back several years, I used to use UK hosting but it was expensive. Since I switched to Hostgator, I've never thought of moving back.

Thank you very much for that review. That was exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for, and confirmed some of my thoughts on the matter.

I use BetterWebSpace - they're a UK company, but not sure if their servers are in the UK.

If you want to boost your UK rankings here's a little tip...

Put your UK address at the bottom of each webpage. Try it and see

Hey buddy,

Try Heart Internet. They got a reseller program with unlimited bandwidth and space for £30/ month.

I use UK Web Hosting, Website Hosting, Web Hosting UK, Web Hosting for my UK hosting. They have very similar features as hostgator e.g WHM/Cpanel with all usual addons such as Fantastico.

Their technical support is excellent as well, they always sort out any technical problems very quickly.

I can say that Zen (Web Hosting | Zen Web Hosting | Linux, Windows, cPanel, Helm, Sitebuilder, MS SQL, PHP, .NET) are one of the best hosts I've used and give them 100% recommendation.

Their customer support is amazing, at least in my past experiences.

While they ain't the cheapest around you're not tied into any long term contracts, (which is the sign of a good host imo) and they've built up a very strong reputation over the years.

Thanks for the input everyone. It seems like our American cousins have out done us again in the services industry, but there seems to be one or two alternatives in the UK worth taking a look at.

hey, i use Web Hosting UK - Domain Names - Cheap UK Web Hosting Services, their servers are in the UK and have cpanel and fantastico, i'm paying around £35 for the year which isn't too bad, check it out!

If you are running scripts on your sites then you may want to watch out for memory allocation on shared hosting. Its not something that gets a prominent mention in their advertising but can sometimes be restrictive for certain types of sites. Its a good idea to clarify exactly whats allowed before you sign up with them!

Having good experience with EuKhost.com (UK server)= so have reseller account
Had bad experience with Nativespace.com (UK server) - canceled it
Tshost.com (UK) - so far good - very cheap
