I am thinking of using Hostgator and i need at least a gig of ftp for my clients to upload files. I notice even with Hostgators Hatchling deal they say it has unlimited disk space. Is this really true? Are there any hidden catches? Files types? File sizes? Thanks |

A Gig of space per client or for all clients? I know HostGator will slap you if you are using their webspace for hosting warez or using as a fileback-up service, so there are some limitations and I suspect that that Gig is gonna push you there. You also have to worry about Bandwidth, which is also "unlimited" but in reality there are limits. If you need this much space I would not risk using a small "unlimited" account |

hi no i meant all my clients not 1 gig per month. They will be using an ftp to upload me files. I am a working with small video files to edit for them Nothing illegal. I suppose if i had 10 people uploading 1 gig files then i send them back to them (hypothetical numbers here) i would have used 20 gig bandwidth right? How much can you get away with on webgator?

I would contact HostGator directly, get ahold of an account manager and explain to them what you want to do. It is always best to get information from the horse's (err gator's) mouth.

you can easily contact them on their live support. Just make sure you abide by their rules.

just had an online chat and they claim that it is unlimited. I quoted a more realistic 10 gig and they said it would be no where near taxing their server. Anyone else any experience of this?
