I too am interested in the Phantom. To anyone that has installed and used, I have a question, if you would be so kind.

If PLC in installed on your primary domain that already has a Wordpress Blog installed, does this present any problems with installation or creating links? For other cloakers, this presents a problem and a sub-domain must be created to remedy. Thanks again.

Hi,

I've installed PLC on my site that has a Wordpress blog installed in root. I needed to follow three steps to make it work. PLC also delivers an root_wordpress_fix and instructions how to edit the files.

These steps are only necessary if your WP blog is installed at root level. If your blog is in a folder ie. yourdomain.com/blog the normal install procedure will be enough.

Does it cost money?
If you don't want to do .php/.htaccess/host redirects and you are using WordPress, then I can recommend the Pretty Link plugin (free version).

Why pay for something when you can do it for free? Just create a new
file in Cpanel. Then go to redirects in cpanel and place your link under
the file name and you'll have a cloaked link. There's no need to buy softwares
and do silly php stuff.

Jane, thanks for the reply. I agree but some people are terrified of even basic coding and prefer the safety blanket of software. I need one that my students can use.

Can anyone tell me if its actually any good?

I have it installed and have used it since launch day...

And YES - there are other ways of doing the cloaking etc.
In fact I even give a link cloaker as one of the freebies I offer to my own list, one I've used myself for a long time....

However, what I love about PLC is the extra stuff it does AND how quickly and easily it sets everything up!

Again all the extras are available with other software, and I'm told much of it is available free here and there....

BUT
For someone like me who struggles with techy stuff at the best of time - I love this because it's all together in one application that I find simple to enter and add a link, and then decide if I want to add a light box over it and a viral add bar above it etc. by just ticking a box and hitting create...

Simplicity and practicality is where I believe it's worth the cash...

And being able to set up multiple links to the same page with slightly different names - so that I can track the exact numbers of clicks from each advertising medium I'm using.... Well tracking has always been one of my main weaknesses...

So my conclusion would be to say that I know people who wouldn't need this as they are technically able to set everything it does up for themselves...

But for me - having it all in one place and made simple to understand and operate is well worth the cash!
(And yes - I'm promoting it on my blog - WITH a link I set up in PLC...lol, and separate links on twitter, in emails to my own list and another in safelist emails ... so I have full knowledge of where the traffic is coming from and how effective my ads are)

I like it very much

Randy

Thanks for that answer, Randy. Like you, I am a non techie, and links hijacking worries me alot.
When you speak to super geeks, they will tell you why waste money, but unfortunately we are not endowed with their skill level, so the next best thing is to get ready made stuff.
It's a relief to know I have not spent my money carelessly

Commission hijacking should be your least worry. If someone with a clickbank account goes to buy something and they get to the order page and see it's a clickbank product they'll just take the commission anyway by simply going back, delete cookies if needed and voila.

You want your links to look pretty, and for the visitors that are not tech savvy, you don't want to send out a red flag. Some people may not want you to have the sales just because that's how people can be. Others however feel safer buying online when they deal directly with a reputable company.

I purchased PLC because of the feature that I can add my own offers and optin forms on top of the affiliate offer. So if you don't get the sale then hopefully you will get at least an optin.

I am using Phantom Link Cloaker 2.0 and I love it for its ease of set up and some of the extra features.

I've written a detailed review and for anyone who is thinking of getting it, my super bonus package will help make your purchase decision easier.

Just check out my signature. Thanks.
