I am looking for member site software for a consulting company. We are not in the business of selling internet 'info products'. Our website is Wolf Management Consultants Inc. A Comprehensive Consulting, Coaching and Training Firm We are looking into setting up a membership site for our clients. They would have access to papers, training materials (including videos), consulting services, discussions forums, teleseminars (active and archived), business and personal coaching, etc. What package would best accomodate our needs? Thanks, Jim |

JMccarthy1948 - I would imagine most membership site scripts would do this. I know lfm would for sure. Lately I have been playing with wordpress plugins to create membership sites and it works really well. I am starting to become a bigger wp fan all of the time.

I own a developer copy of Wishlist but I was really disappointed at the lack of focus on the design of a great site ... most of the effort goes into the installation of the software. Unfortunately Wishlist are not prepared to sell training on how to get the best out of their product...the training is closed until an undisclosed date which is of course no use to me! As I need it now. I also discovered they have a number of plugins they provide to their insider members but if you purchase that membership you cannot buy past bonuses, which kind of seems weird. So Im dropping them and Im looking for another solution. To be fair to Wishlist they are great at sales but not selling your customers essential training on how to get the best out of the product that does not sound very good marketing to me. I have some training that I want o put in a a members area so I can sell the courses . i.e. a 6 week course, 3 month course...etc. I was hoping that there would be an out of the xbox solution that I could adapt as I can't believe Im the only person that needs this...I notice some provide a demo..but when you buy the software you have to figure out for your self how to make that work. Bit like buying a kit car! I want to buy a car with options to change some stuff. Any recommendations..only from people that have spent money and are not an affiliate or from a plugin provider. I was considering a hosted training solution anyone tried one of those? |

I am just getting started setting up a site with DAP but so far I am very impressed with the customer service, the amount of features and how easily and powerfully it seems to integrate with wordpress and vbulletin. The documentation is also very good. Not only does it easily do the things I was hoping for that I thought might be tricky (giving certain privileges to certain members, integrating with autoresponder etc) - many of the features in this program are giving me ideas I hadn't even thought of. I have not used others so I cannot compare it side by side but I am impressed. |

I've been using amember (previously tried Wishlist and didn't like it at all, buggy and wasn't powerful enough to do what I wanted). What I mostly needed was: drip content on wordpress + integration with vbulletin + customization of pages as I saw fit (not just in wordpress). So amember ended up being the best solution for me. It is powerful but also has a lot of plugins and addons that end up doing what I needed it to do. It's definitely not perfect and there are things that annoy me about it (the backend could be better for searching and managing users). But customer support has been one of the best and they always answer my questions and provide custom scripts that fix my needs. At the end of the day it depends on what you want your membership site to do. Sometimes what you think is "easy" may end up being more complicated than you first thought.. like how I felt about the drip content and a number of other things. I still come up with things I want my membership site to do that would still require custom coding from PHP programmers.. but oh well :P I guess I just like more control over my sites. |

I have been using Amember for years. The one thing that bugs me about it is that you have to keep paying an annual subscription to receive maintenance upgrades. If it were for new features, fair enough. But the upgrades are to correct security flaws in the original product. Having said that, I wouldn't use anything else. Pearson |

I have a blog post with an affiliate link in it. I thought I would break the rules here and link to the blog post. What could possibly go wrong?
