I would have to agree with Internet Marketing IQ. Plantronics DSP 400 USB headset provides high quality sound for something affordable.

Camtasia has trouble with some built-in sound cards. The solution is the use a USB mic, instead of one that plugs into the "mic" jack on your computer. |

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good USB stand-alone microphone (i.e. not one that is part of a headset)? This would be for use with a video in which you are filming a narrator and you don't want him/her to be wearing a headset. I have heard good things about the Logitech 981-000246 Desktop Microphone, anyone else have any experience with it? I have also read that the BlueMic Snowball USB microphone is very good, however its about 4 times the price of the Logitech. Thanks for any advice Bill |

I don't know about standalone mics, but I am very happy with my Microsoft headset. It cost about $25 on Amazon and the sound quality and recording quality are both excellent. I have never been happier with a mic, and it's the second best pair of headphones I've ever had for listening to music. The only one better was by Bose.

If you want to window shop, they usually have decent prices at BSW. If you want a USB stand-alone instead of a headset, how about this Behringer? Decent mic, and some decent "pack-ins". | |

You can have a $5000 Senheisher condenser mic, but if you're recording directly into a computer through the average consumer sound card, you're going to get total trash audio from the impedence hum and other noise. Even with USB mics, you stand a big chance of getting crap bleeding over into the audio. It's advisable to record directly into a digital recorder, or invest in a decent soundcard. Otherwise, get a cheap mic and save the money. |

Agreed. Don't go all out on a mic if your sound card isn't uhh....sound. I've used headset for under $20 with no issues recording videos.

I use the AT2020 USB Mic by Audio Technica. It has great sound at a low price. It's a stand alone mic with a built in sound card. I got it at Amazon for under $100. You can hear it by watching the video in my sig below.

okay okay, hey guys, these headsets and stuff are all good, but throw them away .Because they are nothing compared to the CAD u37. Check it out, i think it is only available in america. Buy CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone | Condenser Microphones | USB Microphones | Musician's Friend comes with a little stand, usb microphone. You can put it inforn of you. No software required. Listen guys I make music and record my guitar and vocals very often and do entire songs, this only costs around 50$ okay, and it is FAR better then anything else in that price range. Believe me the quality is outstanding for that price. And it is made for recording, it is a condenser microphone. So if you can afford it, go for it. Ah and don't buy it on this site above, it is more expensive there. theres a deal aroun 50$ on the internet :P |
