I've resigned as a moderator

I've given in my resignation as a forum moderator.

I'd always taken the view that the moderators here should explain their actions. Like everybody else, I've had posts and threads removed without knowing why. So, when possible, I've tried to explain to people, either in the thread or by PM, why there was a problem with their post. I feel that you should treat Warriors like adults.

Only, not all people reacted as adults. I've had a continual stream of PMs full of childish comments and insults. Here's an example:

"I'm curious as to how you are able to moderate the thread on xxx's product with your own personal bias? Isn't the moderators role to uphold the rules of the forum for the good of everyone and not just his own opinions."

I already have two full-time jobs, writing and IM, and I don't need this sort of aggravation so I'm stopping moderating with immediate effect.

My advice to future moderators here is 'do not explain, stay in the background.'

I am sad to see you go.

Hopefully you will still be floating around the warrior forum. I always felt that you where straight forward and tried to give honest explanations and tried to explain things without being biased.

Good luck. Take a break for a while. You look like you live in a nice part of the UK, enjoy it.

Hopefullly still see you around - but as just another average joe maybe.

Well sad to see you stop moderating though I've heard many people saying they find moderators to be bias (This is not my view as I've never experienced it till now).

I am nuetral though I do think you must not stop moderating.

Also, if you've stopped it your self, I will be glad to be a moderator here so that I could learn how to moderate a forum better. I will learn the rules better as well than anyone else will.

I know that "we are all moderators" but wasn't aware you had to tender a resignation. sometimes I'll mod, such as when I see blatant spamvertising but mostly I just come here to talk and learn. And Pearson you're right it is thankless. And, no Andrei, you shouldn't be a jerk about this. Pearson was doing what he thought best to keep the forum of quality.

Pearson wasn't a moderator in the same way that you and I are. He was a real moderator, for the Product Review section.

Pearson, I'm sorry to see you resign although I can understand. I get enough people arguing over an infraction that I can just imagine how bad it gets as a full moderator.

I think the mods do an awesome job here and it's too bad that not all members know how to act like adults.

@pearsonbrown - for what it's worth...I feel you've done a tremendous job...and you and I had a run in or two! BUT...I feel like you were always fair and you actually helped me, I think...to understand and interact better on this forum.

I also know it's a THANKLESS job for sure.

Anyway...I'm CERTAIN you will be missed...and this is a loss for the forum as far as I'm concerned

Thanks for the kind words.

The hardest job here is to decide what is 'fair comment' and what is 'bashing'. It touches me a lot that a couple of people who I have ruled against on occasions have posted to this thread. I may sometimes have been wrong but I was never biased.

Anyway I still have my moderator powers so I rule that this thread is not a 'product review' and so close it.
