Can Anyone Recommend Good Free E-Book Creation Software?

I have all the content for an e-book and wanted to find a good free, or possibly very cheap, software to create the e-book, any recommendations?

I don't know if "good" and "free" go together very well. I've noticed that in this business there are many many tools for our use. Some of them are free but have limited capability. As long as a "paid" version doesn't break your bank you are usually better off getting the full version. Think of it as an investment in your business.

I agree Open Office can be used to create the ebook and save it in the popular format.

You can create the software in any office program (Word or Open Office) and then use Cute PDF to convert it to a PDF format - CutePDF - Create PDF for free, Free PDF Utilities, Save PDF Forms, Edit PDF easily.

In days of old people would create .exe ebooks with specific software but that means Mac users cant open them... and basically why limit your end user. Plus because of the proliferation of viruses and trojans many people are afraid to open an exe file that they dont know everything about.

Stick with the free Cute PDF convertor and you wont go wrong.

as rightly pointed out...good & free doesnt go hand in hand... but to to match your requirement of just to create an e book.. there are so many availabe online.. i think open office is a good take..
I disagree with this when it comes to turning your ebooks into PDFs.

Open Office is more than enough to create ebooks. I have the paid version of Microsoft Office and apart from it looking nicer and having a better grammar checker... Open Office is just as good.

Are you talking about the actual content?

    Or an e-cover?

I use eCover software pro for ecovers.

If that is all you need, send me your pre-made images that you want used for the e-cover.

I'll create some ecovers from your images for you, free of charge.

I will need the image that you want used for the front of the cover, an image for the Spine, an image for the top and an image for the CD.

Or, if you want I can use the same image for all of them. Might look a little weird that way though, but it's better than no ecover at all I suppose.

    Just let me know!
