Hey I find a great way to get hits is to youtube / blog a good video tutorial. So far I've just been using powerpoint and studio cam for the visual, and audacity for the audio, and mixing it all together with Windows move marker. The results are VERY boring visually, to say the list, and are very frustrating (once I had to do that same project 8 times because of technical mishaps!) So, is there any good (preferably free) video editing / creation software that you can recommend and is suitable for a not too technically gifted fellow? Cheers! Nathan |

You have the right tools already, just need to add some salt and pepper to those video tutorials - 1- Write your script first, and make it sound natural, not like you are reading or shouting. 2- Add some effects to your presentation because in power point you can really make things come to life. (Try the free videos on power point at Lynda.com) 3- Use some other content to add impact or humor to your content. |

Majority of free screen recorders (including Web-based and must installed) offer little video editing features. If you want to make and edit tutorial video, try those shareware.

I didn’t publish video tutorials in any online help project yet, but I prepared some for my blog and I worked similarly. Though I’m not to happy with Camtasia here; being used to more complex video applications like Ulead Mediastudio, I find it lacking in handling and options. Cutting pieces out is not optimally solved IMHO. On a side note, I’m currently doing a project with SAP tutorials, and there the users record their processes and transactions with SnagIt, basically making their own tutorials but not for publication, only for us to transfer it to “paper”. It works wonderfully and everyone’s pleased by the solution so far! |

Kevin Riley is putting on a viedo production workshop, and I know he is offering different free sources that work well along with how to create and use videos. You can check it out here if you are interested: Video Production Lab Private Workshop on The Warrior Forum | |

I agree with Marty S, "You have the right tools already, just need to add some salt and pepper to those video tutorials". Even if you have expensive tools, if you don't have the creativity (I don't mean you YOU), you ain't gonna get very far.
