Hi all, I bought DL Guard about 2 years ago... can't remember exactly how it works (meaning where to create the DLG folder on my domain, whether it can be on several domains or only one...where to put the products, etc) so I've been researching this today and can't find a step by step tutorial. I know there is support for those who have an active license, but mine has expired and I don't have the cash at the moment to renew it. So I've also been looking at a product called Digital Product Delivery which looks easy enough to use and there are some videos describing how to use it which is extremely helpful. I've never heard anyone talk about it in here though so I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this? Thanks in advance! |

DL Guard is a one-time purchase as far as I'm aware. And there are plenty of help files and even a forum that Sam answers questions all the time.

I have both, but I found DPD easier to use plus I liked the idea that everything is stored over at DPD and not on my server so I don't have to worry about something happening to all my files on my server. The other thing, I think is that with DPD your buyer gets sent an email ... I don't think DLGuard did this or if it did I probably couldn't figure it out! Anyway, that was important to me because for some reason my buyers seem to always miss the redirect download page and boy do they get mad when they can't download their stuff right away! The emails helped get rid of a lot of angry support emails (and chargebacks) Of course, the big difference is that you pay each month for DPD and DLG is just a one time charge. Lee |

I wouldn't want to do without DLGuard. It doesn't expire, so not sure why you think it does expire. You can upgrade for a fee, but it's not necessary. You are allowed to install it on two domains if I remember the instructions right. But you can add unlimited products on an install. It does not need to be installed where the product resides.

DLGuard is tied to your url. So you have to install it on the domain name that you bought it for. You can change it, but you must contact Sam from the DLG website to do it.

"At the end of the year a DLGuard member can choose to renew their upgrade and support status, which means they'll receive all upgrades and customer support for another full year. Renewing upgrades and support is NOT required, and DLGuard will NOT be disabled if a member chooses not to renew. Having purchased DLGuard, a member retains the right to use DLGuard for life. The upgrades and support simply gives you access to changes made to DLGuard, as well as customer and technical support." I interpret that to mean that the customer and technical support is good for a year. Yes there is a forum but because my tech support license is expired, I don't think I can post in it. If I'm misinterpreting something please let me know!! Thanks everyone for your input! | |

Sam is such a nice friendly helpful guy. You should contact him directly, not post in this forum. Pearson |

Hi EquestrianGal, I didn't realise this thread was going on, otherwise I would have posted sooner! The DLGuard forum is free - you can post in there and I keep up to date with all the questions, and I'll answer what I can. The only time you'd need to renew your support is if I need to login to your site to check things out, or something similar. If I can answer it in the forum for free, I'll definately do so. It sounds like your questions are probably pretty general, so the forum should be fine. So feel free to post and I'll do what I can to help! cheers Sam |
