Blogger Is A Joke Fair Warning Do Not Use Blogger Go With Wordpress! Blog zapped another horror story page rank 2 blog. 600,000 Alexa rating climbing the rankings, 100's of horrors of back breaking work down the toilet 104 posts. Good thing I prepared for this I did import my blogger blog to Wordpress last week all but a couple posts. I do have my own domain and Hosting so I will bounce back with a little elbow grease. Blogger cannot keep a good man down! So if your a newbie reading this you would be retarded to start a blogger blog. If this blog is gonna be one of your money makers, and you will spending a considerable amount of time with it do yourself a favor and go with Wordpress! You have been warned! |

This is definitely common the last week or so. I've been told by several people that they are having several of their blogger blogs deleted and locked each day - even ones with nothing but original content.

God forbid if someone is trying to make a living we dont care - We are big bad Google as long as we have our billions its all good. Its ok for them to make money every which way they can they even have their own affiliate program for the love of god. But its not ok for you.... But when you want to make money god forbid we let you. We want it all!!!!!! Why? Because we are big bad Google, we can!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol what a joke and thanks everyone for the heads up.... I will be alright I have a lot of work to do but at least I was prepared. I hope Facebook takes all their advertising dollars and makes Adwords extinct like the dinosaurs.... Well for blogging Wordpress is really the best so far. You can manage everything easily with their user friendly admin interphase plus there are thousands of plug ins available to make everything easy for you. Meaning you don't need a webmaster since wordpress can do everything for you.

I have 34 Blogger blogs, some years old. Some days old. Why have I never had a blog shut down yet? Could it maybe have something to do with what some people are doing with their blogs? Just sayin. |

I agree never put all your egs in one basket, relying on a third party such as google blogger is risky. Knowing their reputation for slapping people. Wordpress on ya own hosting is the way to go guys! |

Lost 4 original content in the last week. Google is amazing. On one hand I believe they are feeling all good about themselves "cleaning up content on the internet" and on the other hand making a fortune on our backs. Sad, wish them all the best. And Steve, hate that holyier then tho thing...........teach.......give out your extensive knowledge....we all know your successful......we appreciate that, but, some folks do the best they can and yes need to learn more. Just sayin |

I would really urge everyone reading this to just pay $10 bucks + hosting to host their site on their own domain. Trying to build a business relying on another company is a HUGE mistake. Better to get control over your real estate so you can decide what happens to it and aren't at the mercy of anyone else. Blogger and other web properties can help drive traffic, but I would never base my business around them. |

? I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary .... All on the up and up with all unique blog posts. It was just monetized like I said.... And I do have 7 more blogs which do have affiliate links which they have not touched as of yet. But if the blog is getting a decent amount of traffic they will zap ya in my opinion.

Google goes through spurts like this of randomly deleting perfectly legitimate blogs sometimes, but most of the time it's because of something on the blog that the Big G didn't like. For instance they are cracking down more and more on the MFA blogger blogs. Anyone who puts these up still should expect them to be here today - gone tomorrow.

I stated a fact. I have 34 blogs, Adsense, affiliate stuff, Amazon, etc, and have yet to have one shut down. I'm simply suggesting that maybe it's something that the blog owner is doing that's causing the problem. Hey, it's no skin off my nose. I have no stock in Google, nor any love for them, but let's not go bashing things just because a few people have had their sites yanked out from under them. There is a reason why these things happen and without having all the facts, everybody here is just guessing.

Has anyone used weebly? I want to start several info blogs on various topics involving products. They let you direct your own domain name to there "free" hosting. Was curious to know if anyone had any problems with them just deleting blogs and sites at random? I currently use Yahoo hosting for one of my websites and it is a bit high in price, however, I am guaranteed that my website will still be live during the busy holiday season and some of these cheaper hosting sites (like hostmonster) have told me that unfortunately when my traffic spikes in November and December they wouldn't be able to host me... |

I also find it laughable that you think Google doesn't have the right to make as much money as they possibly can from their own website. Don't you do the same?

I have a few blogger blogs myself - However! Any sites that I really care about, or plan to monetise are under my own domain names on my own hosting account. As has been said on this forum countless times: don't let someone else have control over your business! If you are running a business, there are a few essentials you need to have total control of. Your virtual real estate is of prime importance! Don't give control to any free option. For $10 a month, you can have a decent hosting account. (HostGator is my recommendation) A domain can be had for less than a buck. If your business is not worth that much, is it really a business? |

| I tried a few sites on Weebly (pro version) because they have a handy drag and drop site builder. I gave it up because they had too much down time and were unreliable in their loading speed. If they've addressed those issues (mine were over a year ago), it's not a bad set-up. |

I do agree that it's Google business and if you want to play in their sandbox you need to play by their rules. That said I prefer to self-host. Hosting is dirt cheap. Setting up your own Wordpress niche micro-site with cPanel takes about 47 seconds. And that way I don't have to worry about it. But I still have to play by big G's rules because they can de-index your self-hosted site as well so no way getting around that. Build your sites for people not SE's and you should be fine.

I already have my own domain, and hosting through Hostgator. I had it for years I have numerous ones. This post was intended as a warning for new Bloggers to do it right and go the self hosting Wordpress route. Everythings already transferred over just need to revamp my Wordpress blog a little. Noone should have to play by anyones rules but their own thats why this is a democracy. When I started the blog I wasnt aware that they were deleting them for whatever reasons. But like I said at least I was prepared. I just do not want to see this happen to any one else who is not prepared!

There is always a reason why these blogs get yanked, and eventually all the facts are brought to surface. "making money online" is a big red flag and most of these border on NON- legitimate material. Hence all the new FTC rules that are now in place. If you are "teaching" people how to make money online, chance are either in your own content or to one of the links you pointed to had some income claims that didn't jive with and hence Google deleted it. The FTC won't come after the individual using free blogs yet as they usually have no money, but if they target Google, well, they have lots of money. Threfore they need to protect themselves. People use to also say Google would delete their blogs and ban their adsense accounts because of things like duplicate content. But that is not the case either. So, having original content is not the issue and doesn't make a site "legitimate". They only want useful (and law abiding) content for their readers. So, if all the facts are on the table, I think the light would clearly shine through. Another factor could be people "flagging" your site. If you don't hide the top blogger bar it allows the competition to easily flag your sites until one day it just disappears.

DON'T GO WITH WORDPRESS.COM It's AGAINST WORDPRESS.COM TOS TO PROMOTE AFFILIATE PROGRAMS. Get a hosting and download wordpress from wordpress.org if you will be doing affiliate marketing. |

Get your own hosting, get your own domain and then don't look back? Why rent a house when you can rather buy your own? Something like $10 a month is really worth it, especially if you are working 4+ hours a day on the blog, backlinks etc. |

This isn't a new phenomenon. At least once a year there are loads of reports of "my blogger blog is gone". Yet after a short period of time the advice is still "use blogger" when someone wants to get started without spending a cent on domains or hosting. It's not bad advice but if you use free blogs you need frequent back up or at the least keep copies of everything on the blog - and use the free blogs to promote hosted sites/blogs. As tools, free blogs are great but don't substitute those for money sites because they aren't stable and you don't control what happens to them. I expect new regulations are one reason but also I've seen a resurgence of the "get adsense by using blogger" - and I know there are some who are offering to "sell" adsense accounts and are using blogger to do that. When google cracks down they may use certain terms to choose the blogs to shut down and if you used those specific terms you may be a casualty. Quote:

If you've been flooding your blogs with content ... well, that could set up warning flags. I could set up a blog and flood it with 100 posts pretty quick. Would it be spammy in Google's eyes? Yeah, maybe. Google looks at growth patterns I'll bet. |

Here is a part of Google's terms of service for deleting blogs/accounts: Quote:
There is also another section about being compliant with all applicable laws. So if you have affiliate links and talk about making money, I would guess you need an income disclaimer and an affiliate link disclaimer per the FTC guidelines. You had those on your site too, right?

When a company gives you a free platform to voice your opinion and clearly states that in doing so you are agreeing to their terms of service, then they have every right to cut you off and delete your account without warning if you violate those terms. Now just because other people are violating the TOS and haven't been deleted it doesn't make it ok for you to. Sooner or later they will probably be shut down as well. Let me quote from the blogger TOS. "Spam: Spam takes several forms in Blogger, all of which can result in deletion of your account or blog. Some examples include creating blogs designed to drive traffic to your site or to move it up in search listings and posting comments on other people's blogs just to promote your site or product." I think it is a given that people who create blogs for the sole purpose of advertising a product or service by driving traffic to another site may possibly be violating this rule. just sayin.

Yes I have to agree with the 2nd paragraph of this quote (bgmcaw), there is always someone who will be the weakest link in the chain, just when you think things are going great. Things change everyday and the business world is no different. You need to diversify and stay one step ahead. About the subject we are talking about in this thread, you need as many hosting solutions as you can afford. You need to use a variety of SEO tactics over several search engines. I agree with all the others who use wordpress.org. ![]() Quote:

I was doing some blog commenting yesterday following a do-follow blog list and I noticed about 10 blogs on that list that were Blogger blogs had also been deleted. Seems like Blogger is cleaning out their closet. These were work from home, and Internet marketing blogs, so I think they are targeting these types of blogs more so! |

I agree. Blogger blogs should be for info and adsense only. Not selling or linking to money sites. Hobby blogs are probably the best use here |
